Finnegan Posted 8 October 2011 Posted 8 October 2011 You should be forced to have Bobby Gould as a manager for inflicting him on us.
Webbo Posted 8 October 2011 Posted 8 October 2011 Tactically he wouldn't have to be anything special, that side is over rated at the top end of the game. Most importantly he would need to be able to handle and motivate big name players.
Corky Posted 8 October 2011 Posted 8 October 2011 You should be forced to have Bobby Gould as a manager for inflicting him on us. What did he do wrong?
Vacamion Posted 8 October 2011 Posted 8 October 2011 We stop trying to pretend that we can be like Brazil and Holland and play to our strengths. That's why the next manager has to be Vinnie Jones and the team has to have more of a workmanlike character: Starting XI: GK: P Kenny Defenders: J Woodgate, R Shawcross, P Konchesky, T Hibbert Midfield: J Barton, K Nolan, L Cattermole, J Milner Up Front: K Davies, W Rooney Right, I'm off to watch Mean Machine, followed by Mike Bassett: England Manager

Mack Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Can I add to this thread that anyone who makes disparaging comments yets lives here in England for me is a ****. If you dont like us or it here piss off somewhere else!
Izzet is God Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Its bound to be someone the FA feel won't be too outspoken and give us a negative image...so as much as I'd want Mourinho he won't get it. I think Redknapp is a sure thing with the fact that everyone seems to be calling for an Englishman and the media are only increasing the hype that foriegn managers can't impose their game on the international level. Plus he said he'd have it and I can't think of anyone apart from Hodgson who the FA would prefer

I'd have thought the name might have suggested that..

We'll see if he's still a "sure thing" after that ends.
Vacamion Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Ermm, Paddy Kenny's Irish and has won caps for them. I'd have thought the name might have suggested that.. OK, acknowledged. Was trying to put a bad lad in there. On reflection, should be Andy Carroll up front...

Guest Bilo Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Whoever it is, it'll be like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. We're years away from being contenders in my opinion, 2016 at the very earliest before we can go to a tournament with any realistic chance of making the business end.
accessory Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Maybe things will improve once the Chelsea mafia of Terry, Lampard and Cole step down. None of them exactly covered themselves in glory in Montenegro.
Izzet is God Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Really? Terry Venables was forced out for far less.. Yeah...I just can't see them refusing him IMO with all the media hype. England just frustrate me as the FA always insist on having a say and the team is always the old guard. I'd love to see some major change and a whole new set-up with the national side but I get the feeling that'll never happen....Pearce even gets frustrated when U-21's get called up, surely that's the whole point???
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 No question imo. Harry Redknapp. Wise head, and a great motivator.
Ambitious Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Its absolutely doing my nut in that people are crying out for an English Manager. People seem to have forgotten what happened the last time the English Footballing public were demanding an English Man to be in charge of the national team, I'll remind you all. After Euro 2004, everyone was pissed off that we didn't get any further than the Quarter Finals, so they were calling for Sven's head, claiming he wasn't passionate enough etc and that we need an English Man in charge. Come the start of 2006, The F.A. and Sven gave into the media and the public and announced that Sven would leave after the World Cup. The World Cup in 2006 finished, Sven left, and Steve McClaren an English Man replaced him, everyone was happy, they got what they wanted. Over a year later we fail to qualify for a major tournament for the first time in 14 years, then it's "McClaren's rubbish, no English Manager is good enough to manage England, we need a foreigner" , now everyone wants an English man again. The truth is there is no current English manager that is good enough to achieve what we want to achieve. Mourinho or Guardiola would be perfect, they are probably the only 2 Manager's at this moment in time that could win us a major trophy.
Ambitious Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Dan Petrescu for me. He'll most likely get the Romania job, I think their current boss will get the chop after failing to qualify for Euro 2012.
