Am I the only person who feels a bit sorry for Weale?

He's had some cracking games for us where he's looked unbeatable, however he's also made basic errors which have proved costly.

I've seen far worse keepers, but we have a better number one now.

This is the same Chris Weale who kept about 20 clean sheets in his first season, and had two storming games against Man City.

Still, haters gotta hate..

his positioning when ever a cross comes in is terrible he's ahead of the front post, he needs to be more central allowing greater range, but if he hasn't learnt this by his age he never will

He just seems to catch himself in no mans land all too often. I like Weale, he's done well for us and wouldn't slag him off too badly for his mistakes. Keepers mistakes are blown 50 times bigger because of the massive affect a single mistake can have. An outfielder player mis controlling a ball would usually just lose possession or give away a throw in or something, keepers can give away goals. Look at St Ledger for example, much more slagging received because a mistake led directly to a goal.

To answer the question "Do I feel sorry for Weale?"

I felt sorry for Ricardo when we had clever morons chanting Weale's name at him from the Kop, so that would mean I am a soft git and I would surely feel sorry for Weale. But I don't. So that says it all really.

It's ironic how those who incessantly berate Weale's foul-ups are quite happy to turn any number of blind eyes to those committed by his manager.

This!!

Ah so weale gets a verbal kicking when the real villain of the piece on Saturday Scmichael gets no reprimand ? . Yes Weal drops clangers that's down to his ability but what excuse does Scmichael have ? his childish temperament cost us the game NOT weale.

a) 16 clean sheets (including the Macclesfield League Cup game).

b) Maybe, just maybe the defense played a certain part in keeping those 16 clean sheets

c) "Two storming games" against Manchester City? Tevez' goal at the Walkers... Weale didn't look too good in the near corner.

d) Derby County away 2009/2010

I didn't see Sven costing us the three points away at the City Ground on Saturday.

Weale isn't good enough. To mess up once against a local rival is unfortunate, twice unforgivable but three times in consecutive seasons?

He can't cope with pressure or crosses and if anyone shoots from outside the area you can pretty much guarantee it's going in or he's going to push it straight back out to an on rushing forward. Guess who conceded two long range goals tonight?

A section of our fans hounded out a goalkeeper with 80 international caps in favour of Chris Weale.

Don't really feel sorry for him as such. We've bought in a much better keeper in Kasper and Weale had tailed off massively after his first season with us in which I absolutely loved him. Also it's not like he gets abuse, considering all the mistakes he has made he still doesn't get booed and the WEALE WEALE chant even came out when he was warming up before kick off at Forest. Ricardo though I 100% felt sorry for.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I don't feel massively comfortable with him between the sticks, and am a lot happier with Schmeichel, but all our fans seem to hate the guy with a passion, which I feel is a little unfair

Maybe it's because he's made a couple of colossal mistakes against bitter rivals that the vitriol stems from, BUT it wasn't THAT long ago we were all chanting that he was "England's Number One", and I remember thinking, in the season that Kermorgant destroyed for us, that he was the best keeper we'd had in ages.

I am sure you are not the only one to feel sorry for him but he will get little sympathy off me. He is paid to do a job to the best of his ability which for the past season and a bit he has not performed to the best of his ability save for one or two games.

I stuck up for him just after he joined but nice guy or not can not save a shot more than 20 yards out. Infact I would say he is worse now then when we first signed him.

Perhaps he has an eyesight problem because he was so far away from the ball put in on Saturday it was pathetic. Didn't even spill it, just got no where near it. Proper schoolboy error and I no longer have any confidence in him to do a half decent job even as a back up.

I'm mixed he's done some good stuff for us but also some silly stuff which has cost us..

I think he's a good goalie but perhaps just short of the mark of the quality we need to achieve promotion, certainly in the premiership we'd be worried..

I like the Kasper appt, and happy we have Weale on the bench.

I think Weale is a confidence keeper and going through a bad patch. TBH I'd get rid now, his confidence will not improve as a sub a la Forest. Time to get somebody hungry in as number two, Smith may be that man, I've not seen enough of him to be sure.

I totally agree

Weale, Hobbs, waghorn....

I don't think it's so much about being 'confidence players' more it's about their relationship with Sven. Or so I would guess anyway... These are players that must have known right from the off that they weren't fancied by him.. That they would only be squad players under his helm.

It's no coincidence, for me anyway, that Hobbs (player of the season), waggy (expensive young starlet) and weale (who had some exceptional games under NP) were either

gonna fight to show the new manager just how good they were, or were gonna 'have the hump', lose confidence and either leave or underperform.

Brings me back to the point I made right at the outset that certain players play well for certain managers.

Hobbs, waggy, Weale are not simply bad players. They have simply not had it in them to rise to the challenge of a changing club with higher aspirations than previously and a different managerial set up.

That's what I think anyway.. All three, under our previous boss, could perform extremely well.

Now they cannot..or could not. No coincidence

Are you ****ing kidding me?

Hobbs was a regular starter until about February where he'd made himself a complete donkey in the Centre of defence.

And Waghorn was given plenty of chances up to January where, he too did not do enough to prove himself.

I'm sick and tired of reading that it was all Sven's fault that these players didn't show their worth to the team, when the actual fact is that if the players had performed better they would still be here.

Just seen an interview after the Bury game with Chris Weale on FP and he seems a nice lad and committed to the club. He gets my support although I was yelling "Weale, what are you doing?" on Saturday for their second...

You are missing the point.. Under NP these players had become effectively first teamers and knew they would be playing every week

Under Sven, I can only assume that they knew they were being watched and that he had ideas in mind for others to come in to replace them.. Mee, bruma, bamba, yakkety,

Some players can handle this, some can't

This is not to blame Sven! I think it's good that he has looked to strengthen the squad.. But I maintain that dips in form of these players is no coincidence..

They remain good players, but not for Sven..
