Steve Claridge and Robbie Savage, Leicester legends but the worse pundits on TV/radio?

Seems to bring in the dosh for him though.

I think he may get a cult following on there, similar to John Sergeant or And Widdecombe... lol

For those dissing him and Claridge as pundits though, there are plenty of worse ones out there, as ITV remind us on a regular basis.

I do not mind them to be honest, i can disagree with what they say and Claridge can bbe overly negative at time's and sounds like he is on a major downer but is still better than Andy Townsend any day of the week :giggle:

claridge is terrible but the worst by far is andy townsend is truly terrible and also gary neville is pretty poor

Spot fvcking on about Townsend - I'm sure he is a nice bloke and good to old women and young children but when he talks about football, I have to question whether he really did have a professional career.

A case for alien abduction in my books - "he know nothing".

Neville - he's just a mono-toned manc.

Decent punditry is not something that our generation is blessed with.

I'd disagree with the whole topic title, foe me to be a Leicester Legend they need to conduct themselves with a little dignity, who can forget Savage Kissing the Birmingham badge on his return to Leicester or Claridge who has nothing good to say about us and openly admits he's sour about his time at Leicester cause MON dropped him for Ian Marshall... Complete pair of cnuts!

Love Savage. Not too fussed by Clarifge, just because he played for us doesn't mean he's got any right to be biased towards us.

Claridge has opinion, where we might not like it most of the time, that's football for you.

Only Leicester fans could think a Derby loving tosser who loved winding up our own fans every time since he left us could be a legend whereas a man who won us two of the greatest games in our history and took us to places like Madrid could be a bellend.

I despair sometimes.

I think he's the best pundit around.

:o

I think this is the first time I've agreed with you, although Clarence Seedorf at the WC came across as a very good pundit as well.

Agree with this. I'm not a fan of Claridge as a pundit, but he was always respectful of us as a player, as shown with his muted celebration after scoring for Millwall.

I will never dis Claridge the player, he scored two of the most important goals for us of the past two decade's.

It is just as a pundit he is quite negative, quite strange really, positive player, negative sounding pundit.

Maybe he misses playing the game :dunno: or perhap's he is being clever and knows that being negative get's you talked about.

Or maybe Claridge is right about us?

He criticises Sven's tactics, playing people out of position, which most of us on here have. He has criticised the transfer prices, notably Mills' at £5m, again lots of us have and have made the comparison with selling Hobbs for like 800k.

Just speaks his mind, after Portsmouth he says he looks out for our results first, so he does want us to succeed, he just criticises when things deserve to be criticised. Like we all do.

Big deal.

I've noticed that as well...he is in general very negative. Perhaps he tries to go for the constructive criticism approach. I don't really think he's the best pundit but he's not that bad...just speaks his mind.

As for Savage, he just does what he's always done...wind people up. He makes some absolutely ridiculous comments but I personally think he just goes for the extreme in wind up and giggles about it later.

He's never the worst pundit either though. Townsend easily beats both he's shocking and Garth Crooks is just laughable.

Savage is terrible, how he got the 606 gig on 5Live I'll never know. You can be controversial and knowledgable, the likes of Rodney Marsh, Alan Young etc prove that.

Claridge is a strange one. Maybe he wants to appear impartial or like a Devils advocate but he rarely gives us praise, especially since Sven came through. He's a bit like Lawrenson too, totally different on the radio to when he's on TV. He's quite jovial and laid back on The Monday Night Club but on TFLS he's defensive and stony faced.

I think events have largely vindicated him, much as folk may refuse to admit it.

Compare and contrast Claridge with Alan Young, both as a player and a pundit.

Absolutely.

You will have trouble getting anyone on here to admit it, but Claridge has been spot on about us and SGE for the last 12 months. Very very accurate.

Claridge was right about us unfortunately but he is still a very negative sounding pundit, contrasting with chocolaty hyper Savage.

I have to say it, tin hat on but stan collymore is the best. Some great banter on talksport and well thought out opinions for an ex player. Better than cottee, claridge, savage or smith.
