cambridgefox Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 I was thinking today about starting a similar topic when I was reminded of a game we played - cricket but with dice. We used to list two sides and one person would bat whilst the other bowled. To score runs you rolled the dice 1 to 4 & 6 if you rolled a 5 you were out, the other dice was then rolled to determine how you were out as in 1 = Bowled, 2 = Caught etc if you rolled a 5 it was classed as a no ball and you carried on. We used to keep a proper score card with the player batting changing on odd numbers in fact it was all done and recorded in the most exacting detail and could last for hours but then we had none of electronic gadgets you get these days and TV was considered a luxury. The hide and seek game we called it Pod. Owzat,my older brother has still got it,simple game but hours of fun.Good shout davieG.
Webbo Posted 9 September 2011 Author Posted 9 September 2011 Did anyone one else play French cricket? You used to have to stand on the same spot with a cricket bat. The others had to hit you below the knee to get you out or catch you when you bat the ball away.
cambridgefox Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 Grass treatment! not a game but a form of torture.Happened and dished out to all at my primary school.pinned down then long blades of grass in the nostrils.
Donut Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 oh great question Football Related Cuppy singles & doubles Cuppy Peno's Heads & Volleys (special 5 pointer in heads and volleys if every person was involved in the move before the last player headed or volleyed in!) Wallie (Continuously kicking the ball at a small target until someone missed) Non Football Related Hedge Jumping/Garden Hopping Swing Wanging (ridiculous........kick your trainers off over the crossbar on the swings over the road....usually after drinking rank white lightning cider) Bulldog Backyard Wrestling (bit sad) Anyone used to go to ''football in the parks''??? that was awesome! we were Brazil one year!!!!!!!
Donut Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 Blind swearing was a good one at school get however many mates (5 is good) to draw lots to get the running order..... then you have to take it in turns to blind swear (close your eyes in class and flick the v's towards the front of the class for a couple of seconds)........the loser is the one the teacher catches. and goes mental to. Used to love cuppy peno's in goal, especially with a brand new pair of sondico's. Pogs got banned from my school. They were causing fights, and stealing, no joke
Rincewind Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 Cant remember many games if any. Was never really a sociable kid bit of a loner. Wasnt all bad just nothing exceptional. Used to go school do my work come home and go bed when I was told. Stayed in at night often playing card or board games with the family. Never thought about beer until It was legal for me to taste it. As for girls I always got the ogre at end of term dances. So no nooky there.
acooling08 Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 Loved curby! Wall-ie - Kicking a ball against a target until someone missed and was out. Cops and Robbers - Split a big group into 2. The robbers went and ran/hid and the cops had to catch them. When a cop got you, you couldn't struggle and were taken back to the 'jail'. If all the robbers were caught, the cops won. A caught robber could be freed by being tigged by another robber. If 1 robber or more was still free by the end of lunch time (school) or tea time (park after school) then the robbers won.
Rincewind Posted 9 September 2011 Posted 9 September 2011 The cricket sounds familiar. Shall have to revive it the next time we have a clan gathering. But I believe there may have been board game manufacturers that profited on the idea.
Brown Fox Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Cuppies (Road to Wembley) and RedArse are the 2 most incredible games to have entered my life. I'm 18 and still play both regularly!
Raw Dykes Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 A friend of mine who went to school in Brum says when he played Heads & Volleys as a kid, the person with the lowest score had to face the "Wall of Death". All the other players formed two rows from the wall, and the loser would have to try and run between the two rows to touch the wall, while everyone else just beat the shit out of them.
ScouseFox Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 French cricket was boss. And obviously knockouts, heads'n'vs, raw arse we call it though.
Bugg Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Heads and Vs followed by tan arse for the loser and British Bulldog.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Wall-y? As in, kicking a ball against a certain spot on a wall. Whoever misses is out and so on.
AyewJoking Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Wasnt so much of a game as the others but garden-hopping was great fun. We'd have a quick simple route we'd take when bored or a larger, more difficult route working our way around the block. Sometimes we'd just get into someones garden and see how far we could go.
LukeyZade Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Throwing arrows* A garden cane, split at the top with playing card flights (like darts). A notch 1/4 of the way up the cane, piece of string with a knot, wrapped once around and down the knot. run and release... *Anyone know this ? Used to get 200 yard throws.. Yep i made my own wen i was 15. Im 23now . But never measured distance
Rincewind Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 I made my own bow and arrow. never killed anyone with it though.

Garden hopping was amazing, love the bastards that tried to catch you out with motion sensitive lights. Felt like Solid Snake garden hopping as a yoot.
boring_jester Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Me and my mates were influenced by jackass and CKY and did a lot of hedge jumping, gardin hopping and trollys down hill. we still play 5 a side and double cuppies.
Narborough_fox Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Red Arse, Walley, Manhunt just the normal.
purpleronnie Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Red Arse, Walley, Manhunt just the normal. Mind boggles.
Narborough_fox Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Mind boggles. You never heard of Red Arse?
Brown Fox Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 me neither. Basically it's heads and volleys except everyone has 10 lives. First person to lose 10 lives (let 10 goals in) stood against a wall whilst everyone else took turns to smash the ball at the recipients arse. Hence 'redarse'
