Both performances were shit for a team thats had £10M spent on it and thinks it can win automatice promotion. Don't be daft we did well at Cov and Forest was quality just unlucky at the end. If we played like we did at Forest against Barnsley, Reading we would of won.

If not why dis Sven allow certain players to go on holiday instead of working with them. And I think the biggest question is Derby's Brian shackle looks twice the player Matt mills is, I've given Matt Mills 5 games now and he is not worth 50p let alone £5 million.. We need justify our favourites price tag and soon!

He's not worth 5m probably 3m and thats being generous. The one thing that's gets me is he doesn't seem to be doing the captains thing he seem quite therefore I would like to see Kasper/Wellens with it. Even if they haven't gelled yet they should be doing well in there own performance which he's not!

I agree with you that they are not poor players apart from Mills, But if he isn't is it the captaincy that has blundered him? I think the problem can be resurrected by signing two decent wingers to provide cover for Paintsil and Konchesky! because at the moment we are being exposed horribly down the wings, and any team with half decent winger will exploit that. plus Beckford needs quality service and even in his first game he looked frustrated at his lack of service. These problems need to be resurrected soon otherwise we will get caught in the trap of continuous bad form!

Said this yesterday... We can't just go on keeping on signing more and more players in the chance it might come right! For those of you still interested, my take on the game viewed from the East stand. If I am going to have to pay £30+ for a ticket, then at least I want a decent seat! So, to the game.....

Reasonably happy with the personell despite the exclusion of King, I don't like him in the forward role anyway.

Started brightly enough but Barnsley were soon making the pace, simply by being harder working and better organised. Strangely we were playing 4-3-3 with Vassell and Gallagher in the wide positions, leaving Beckford virtually single handed down the middle. Our three midfield players were neither playing him in nor getting up to support, a few long balls were all Beckford had to chase and he looked pretty frustrated as the half wore on.

Even in defence our midfield was woeful, no one appearing to have any idea of their responsibilities with the result that Barnsley were dominant and picking the right side of our defence apart. Recent improvements in Mills's play seems to have disappeared and Pantsil just looked weary, arduous international duty maybe? The goal, when it came was no surprise, the dominant Gray won another header and the ball looped off the crossbar for Butterfield to score with ease.

City tried to up the tempo but to little effect, Beckford looked fragile and frustrated and Gallagher picked up a nasty looking injury, frankly, with Gallagher pretty much a passenger city were holding on for half time.

Change at the start of the second half, King for the broken Gallagher and guess what, a good pass into the channel from Mills, Beckford makes space and drives in a cross that King puts in from three yards, a very nice goal, completely out of nowhere.

I was expecting City to take control but it didn't happen, Barnsley stepped back up and for half an hour or so it was pretty even, City having more of the possession than first half with Barnsley, on the whole, looking more dangerous. Around the hour mark City looked to be gaining the ascendency but again it didn't really last, the game swinging end to end with both teams looking better going forward.

In the last quarter Barnsley stepped up another gear and began to dominate, we looked on our last legs and our defenders were continuously and hopelessly exposed. Konchesky had to go off, replaced by Peltier but nothing much changed and suddenly Barnsley were flooding forward and it was only excellent work by Schmeichel that saved the day.

Following a rather nasty tackle on Vassell there was a bit of a fracas resulting in several yellow cards, some pretty soft to me, then both sides, to their credit, went for the winner. Dyer came on and gave us a bit of a lift and as a result we pressured hard in the last few minutes for the winner but it was not to be.

So, to be be blunt, we were poor, all that talent going to waste because, simply, as a team we have no idea what we are trying to do, our shape, setup and tactics are just wrong, there is no defensive discipline and coverage of our back 4 is non existent, no wonder they have 'the yipps'.

Claridge annoys a lot of people on the show because he says the truth and that's sometime what people don't want to here. Cant fault him for ignoring us were nothing special.

A rough guess? I would say no one......

That is very much the point, we have quality players throughout, one or two of whom have had poor starts, but with the players at our disposal we really should be doing better....

There is no shape or purpose to our play, good players simply not knowing what is expected of them, often out of position and somewhat bemused by the chaos around them.

At no point this season have we looked solid and well organised, what decent play we have managed has come from isolated moments of good play from individual players, yesterdays goal being a case in point. Our only sustained periods of decent play, first half in both cases, came against Forest and Southampton and were the result of tremendously energetic performances from Danns and Fernandez with support from Nugent in the first case.

That was it, good players imposing themselves on a game to great effect, but as they ran out of energy our whole effort simply flagged, absolutely nothing to back them up.

The fact that we have, on occasions produced some decent play is down to the quality of our players, nothing else. The 'time to gel' nonsense is just that, there is absolutely no shape to our play for them to gel into.....

The answer is the same one that I have been calling for since our play fell apart in March and April, a proper first team coach. Some people are at last beginning to question the coaching, but it has taken an awfully long time for the penny to drop.

No, it got merged with about a dozen others actually. Keeping the place tidy seems to keep the place popular, not having every Tom, Dick and Harry starting a thread to air their own opinion when other threads exist they could easily have used is deemed the best for the forum.

If we're still mediocre shite in 9/10 games and we're still looking a side that can't defend, evidently not sure what they're doing and we're still hearing how we're becoming "better and better" then for me he's got to go, as that just means we're shite and not even improving.
