Wellens

I do like the argument of "knowing little about football" because they have a different opinion.

Yeah well you know little about arguing, so shut up! La la la la la la la I can't hear you!

Wellens was poor today and has been most of the season.

How about slagging off Fernandes for a change - the game passed him by?

You're right about that. I still don't know what he's for. Or what the hell Dyer has done that's so wrong. No he's not the world's best winger but he's is always a threat and that threat means he has to be dealt with which means space for others.

After one bad game everyone wants him out, he has a good one everyone loves him get over yourselfs and accept that players will have bad games and he can be benched to make him realise what kind of performances he needs to put in to maintain his place. Your pathetic give him a break, its understandable asking for him to be benched but for him to move to ' oldham, because its about his level' is a joke !

I didn't at any point insinuate that he is a Premier League player however such cantankerous comments as 'Oldham is his level' are just provocative and unnecessary.

It always annoys me when fans get frustrated at players who sit deep in midfield and look to play the simple ball. I appreciate that clearly it is just two different footballing philosophies and others would prefer more dynamism.

But, I feel that for the type of player Wellens is there is not many better outside of the Premier League.

I felt that against Southampton for example he dictated the play especially in the first half and 'in my footballing opinion' you need a midfielder who does that.

EDIT: I also retract my statement about you knowing nothing about football. It's just frustration at such (unnecessarily) strong criticism of a player who I believe is a good player.

I wish he bloody would play the simple ball!

Can't remember him every being anything other than shite or as good as the rest of the team. He's never stood out, I hope he's dropped, Johnson has a stormer and gets back to complete fitness and we never go back.

Don't know why youi think you got the right to slag our players off as you obviously don't travel from Scoueland to the King Power very often, and if you do have you got a white stick?

He was poor at Barnsley too.

It's all academic anyway, he won't be dropped. Sven rates him.

Both Wellens and Konchesky threatened to give away a goal trying to dribble near the halfway line. Many managers insist that no-one takes people on in the back two thirds of the field. It's a coaching basic really but we're more likely to do our dribbling in the back two thirds and not take anyone on at the front. Weird!

He's been crying out to be dropped for a long time, even the game where he's been good he tries to over-do things and wastes possession.

Once Johnson comes in, Richie will throw his toys out the pram and it'll be bye-bye Richie :chant: :chant: :chant:

that's not what we get frustrated about by Wellens - I'd rather he stay back because he can't shoot for toffee.

What frustrates me is his inability to move things on quickly (several times last Saturday Beckford and Vassell were turning the Brighton defence but Wellens refused to just ping the ball over the top for them.) and his insistence on playing some ****ing spectacular ball rather than the better option (witness the corner earlier - just ****ing whip it in)

That strike against Southampton was awful... [sorry that is being inappropriately confrontational]

There is times you wish he would move the ball on quicker. He is not the perfect player. But I certainly wouldn't call him an embarrassment to the club, but we can agree to disagree on that one.

I personally feel the midfield is slightly unbalanced with too many central players and that it was being by-passed a little too often in the second half today.

Wellens is one of our best players.... In a straight 4-4-2 with two pacy wingers to slide the ball through to

Wellens, like many, is a victim of Svens naff tactics

Who's next to blame? Beckford (although that's started already! lol), King? Vassell...

How's about looking closer to home perhaps?

Or are they all shite?

Well what with this being my fourth season ticket, I have been to pretty much every game Wellens has played at the King Power, and pretty much every time he's been gash.

You're opinion is different to mine :o And yours is wrong.

Or slag Vassel off, apart from his header at the end he was useless

Again, for all that he played quite well against Brighton it is hard to know what he is. He's not a striker cos he doesn't score ofen enough and to put him there instead of Schlupp is a joke because Schlupp will score more goals in a couple of months than Vassell will score in a season.

But Vassell's not really a winger either. He doesn't consistently beat people nor deliver pinpoint crosses with any regularity. But with the shirt he's wearing he needs to represent 15 goals a season and he doesn't, not even close.

Schlupp can get into double figures, even as a novice and this really is something we need to look at - getting enough goals and pace in the sid e when we break. Nugent will make a difference but even with three specialist quality strikers we need the supply from out wide and from central midfield.

King is obviously worth 12-14 goals but we can't keep playing Abe, Fernandes and Wellens in the one team.

lol

so because people don't rate a certain player it makes them a keyboard warrior, sensational logic :crylaugh:

More to do with the comments about him being an embarrassment to the club rather than the opinion of the player.

I would like him to say that to Bobby Davro's face!

Yes he scored a good goal, but come on, you're not gonna sit there and refuse to admit that 9 times out of 10 when he shoots the ball drags way wide and poses more of a threat to the corner flag than the net.

I don't think he's taken a shot more than 10 times in his career so i really couldn't comment on whether he misses the target "9 times out of 10"

:P

Ok then, 2 times out of 3 - much closer?

It's not hard to know what Vassell is at all. As a central striker he does everything well, but does not have that clinical touch in front of goal, as a wide player he is completely ineffective.

If he is to play, it has to be part of a central 2. Nugent will be back in as soon as fit I imagine,

He was shit today. But then again, who in the midfield was actually any good?

Wellens is consistently in the team, which means he's amazing if we win, and completely to blame if we lose. I really don't see why people on here can't see the wood for the trees - when you crowbar Abe, Fernandes, Wellens and King into a slow midfield four with no pace on either flank, what the hell do you expect?

In any case, people are just going to have to deal with him being in the team. And as for Johnson replacing him...well, he may do in time but he looks way off it and about 2 stone overweight, so it will be a while before he's in contention.
