Bilbo Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Wow. I 've just been reading the post Cardiff match comments and I'm amazed by the overwhelming negativity from some people on there. 0-0 away from home against one of the top six sides and possible promotion contenders is a good result. We're now 8 games into the season and there are so many positives which people seem to have overlooked. 1) 5 game unbeaten run. 2) The only team to have beaten two of the most in form teams Brighton and Southampton. 3) Haven't lost away from home yet. 4) Our defence looks stronger every game we play with Sol Bamba and Peltier looking like two of the best defenders we have had in a long while. 5) We arguably have the best goalkeeper in the league. All this coming from a team that has only been playing together for a couple of months. It seems a lot of people still hold the belief that for some unknown reason we should be walking one of the toughest leagues to succeed in. I'm not saying that there aren't areas we need to improve on but one thing I will say is that at the minute we should all be pretty pleased with the start to the season.
Webbo Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 We could have won, maybe should have won so a draw is nothing to be delighted about, having said that it's not a terrible result either.
Corky Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I think it's frustration. Aspects of our game were good, others weren't so good.
cc_star Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I'd have taken a point & would have relished a clean sheet, but given the circumstances I'm a tad disappointed. There was no way of expecting Cardiff to be so poor in the 1st half & we just did nothing, Cardiff must have had a bollicking at half time & upped their game it was only the fact that they were down to 3rd choice forward after 2 freaky 1st half injuries who himself had to play injured that stopped them capitalising on it, then because if their subs & effectively playing with 10men we got back into it & again did nothing. Vassell's botched header which bounced up onto the bar papered over a few cracks. Hopefully Nuge is back soon as we need some effort being put in upfront There was positives though so I'm not depressed over the result but we're going to have to be 10 times better on Wed & next Sat because nit many teams will drop off us like Cardiff did
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 0-0 away against any of the top 10 sides in this division is not a bad result however if we were in anything but 2nd gear today we would and should of won
Fox92 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 A draw away at Cardiff is a good result. A draw away at Middlesbrough would be a good result. However, they won't be seen as good results if we don't beat Derby on Saturday.

JadeFalcon Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 only problem i saw with the game today was the lack of willingness to shoot from range. other than that there are idiots on the board who will never be pleased with anything they see
Fox92 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 only problem i saw with the game today was the lack of willingness to shoot from range. Agree. I wished we shot from long range more. Did anyone here Sven? Stringer asked him about shooting from a distance, and Sven said something like "if we shoot, we give the ball back to the opposition team who could then score. When they haven't got the ball ,they can't score" So does that mean, we're always going to try and walk it in?
davieG Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I'm not happy we've got another post match topic.
jonthefox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Im happy. A point away from home is great if you ask me.
SuperScout Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 We should be winning games like today's, end of. Sven either sorts it out or the Raksriaksorns and Whelan will get rid and quite rightly so.

I'm not saying that there aren't areas we need to improve on but one thing I will say is that at the minute we should all be pretty pleased with the start to the season. Interesting.... I've been genuinely surprised and, I guess, a little impressed by how EASILY PLEASED some of our fans are. I genuinely thought that the standard of football we would be playing this season would be actually a lot better than what we've seen. Given the money spent, the pre-season and all that etc etc...... I no way thought we'd be losing at home to Brizzle and to Reading - both very average teams this season. Even today, IMO Cardiff were there for the taking - they had made three subs by half time and looked completely knackered second half and we still couldnt break them down. Quality players, such as Danns and Mills have not 'hit the ground running' as I fully expected them to AND we are out of the league cup in a season when, given the squad Sven had assembled, I thought we might actually progress further. Finally, in Wellens and Beckford, I never imagined I'd see the pair of them play so badly in a game as they did today. Maybe I'm deluded and expecting too much.. however, given the fact that we have Sven as the manager and have spent shit loads, I think I have a right to feel we should be playing better than we are. A draw at Borough and a win against the Sheep Shaggers and I'll be feeling happier. I don't care about any backlash I may get for saying this... tis what I think
SuperScout Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I hope you're joking Does this look like a smile?? >>>
jamesmilner Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 great result if we can work on it , just need to get a run going now .
Charl91 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 What annoys me is people saying it's alright to draw away. That would be fine if our away form wasn't better then our home one. If we're not winning most of our home games, then we shouldn't settle for a draw away. Similarly, we shouldn't be happy with a draw against the top 8 teams or so if we're also not going beat the mid-lower teams. The points have to come from somewhere.
bettso Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 great result if we can work on it , just need to get a run going now . We're 5 league games unbeaten

Can't go back in time and rectify those defeats mate. Bottom line is we're doin well at the minute and bar a poor ref at forest and Daz's inability to head the ball, we'd be 4 points better off. Small margins but ones that over the season will even out onto the other teams giving us more points. It's quite unbelievable that after a draw away from home against a team who always seem to get the better of us, people are unhappy. Our back 5 looked every inch a promotion capable back line and once Nugent gets up front with Beckford the goals will start to flow. In short..........COME ON CITEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JadeFalcon Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 look how many times we tried to walk it in today and how quickly they surrounded us when we did, giving us no chance, they took the ball off us and were back down our end, need to be suprising the opposing keeper more by random strikes. i do see svens point about shooting from range, but that is where the rest of the team come in to stop them

Sven either sorts it out or the Raksriaksorns and Whelan will get rid and quite rightly so. Why should we be winning games like these? Also it's not Svens fault we couldn't finish, especially Vassell chance at the very end!

King shot a couple of times from the edge of the area, Konchesky twatted a couple and when Johnson came on, he was ready to smack it a couple of times but just didnt have the room. We tried to walk it in at times but we play a varied game so that's what you get. I've no idea what the **** Sven meant by his answer but it certainly sounded to me like a, 'I really dont want to be interviewed today' response. Why should we be winning games like these? Also it's not Svens fault we couldn't finish, especially Vassell chance at the very end! Some people think we should actually win EVERY game.
SuperScout Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Why should we be winning games like these? Also it's not Svens fault we couldn't finish, especially Vassell chance at the very end! Right OK? it wasn't Sven's fault we couldn't finish? who was it who brought those players in?
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Right OK? it wasn't Sven's fault we couldn't finish? who was it who brought those players in? we had many chances today but couldn't finish, Vassell should of scored at the end and Beckford didn't look like he cared. A draw against Cardiff is a good result, don't know why you don't think it is.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Some people think we should actually win EVERY game. I know, 1 point is better than 0 points, Cardiff are a good team but everyone thinks that cause we have spent money they expect us to win every game
