stifler Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 every game, i think the ground is about full, (bar 3 - 4k). but am i the only one that thinks every game the official attendance falls short, i mean, 22 thousand yesterday.. really?
bluesbrothers Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 22k plus, with a naff Derby contingent, rip off ticket prices and the Sky cameras present? I think it's a great showing.
ajthefox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 It did look fuller than 22k yesterday I thought the same
FuriousFox46 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 In fairness it was Saturday night on Telly and 22,000 is a great turnout. I don't think we give our fans enough credit, over 20,000 is excellent with the Tigers on our doorstep.
acooling08 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I love the description of the topic! i dont think he is has as bad as everyone makes out
Madrid_Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Why would people fork out £30 when you can watch it from the comfort of your own living room / pub? Match tickets are too pricey
davieG Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 every game, i think the ground is about full, (bar 3 - 4k). but am i the only one that thinks every game the official attendance falls short, i mean, 22 thousand yesterday.. really? I always think the opposite, barely 20k yesterday I thought many of the regulars ST holders) around me didn't turn up. I believe they are counted as being there.
absolutelegend Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Why would people fork out £30 when you can watch it from the comfort of your own living room / pub? I'd have paid a lot more than that to be at the game yesterday. When it's good its great value entertainment. However, the 30'odd quid hurts a bit more when we lose and play poorly (Reading, Bristol City anyone?) My answer to this is simple, get a season ticket and forget about the cost a bit. I know I want to be at the games whether they win or not so for me it makes sense. However, totally understand those who stay away when it's a Sky game sometimes - especially those with families etc. to pay for
Guest DavidJCW Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Looked a little empty yes, but as people have said... ticket prices being what they are, it being a Saturday evening AND being on Sky, the attendance wasn't half bad really! And to be fair, they're the lucky ones for getting to see such a solid and gratifying win over the Derby scum.
stillwater Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 It's already been said but 22k turn out is not bad with it being a late kick off and being on Sky. Ticket prices are going up, got a couple of extra tickets for friends to sit/stand in the east stand, £36 a ticket. Was it worth it?? Of course it was to see us stuff the sheep shaggers My only fear is what will the prices go up to next year when we are in the Prem???
BlueSi13 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I echo what many people have said on here. Saturday night, live on sky, poor showing from the away contingent and we were never going to get near 30,000. But the biggest issue is and will always be ticket pricing. £20 for the cheapest adult ticket is a farce, as all those empty seats is just wasted income. Cut the ticket prices in half and those seats will be filled, those fans will then buy merchandise, food and drinks and add to the atmosphere at the ground. The club will earn more in the long run guaranteed. For the life of me i don't know why club owners don't understand this.

While I do agree with this, I'm relatively sure I've read somewhere that the projected income from more fans as a result of cutting ticket prices wouldn't actually cover the amount lost from the cut in prices.
Tommeh Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 An attendance only Leeds and West Ham in this league and just over half the premiership would better in the circumstances, and that can be said for most our away showings too. Not half bad.
stifler Posted 2 October 2011 Author Posted 2 October 2011 I love the description of the topic! im not quite sure how that happened, im sure i didnt put anything
Dan Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I'm glad in a way the attendance was awful - It will hopefully force them to lower the price for TV games. I cannot believe the amount of games these days that are £30 AND on Sky. It's a joke. If they remain £30, then expect that kind of embarrassing figure to go down even further.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I think the price played a big part. Derby games are always worth being there even when there's TV there, but add on extras then
jonthefox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Attendance was shit FOR US!!! Given the circumstances i thought it was very good.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 The West Stand appeared to have huge empty spaces yesterday, and at anywhere between £38 and £40 for B2 and B1 this is hardly surprising. The cheapest matchday ticket yesterday was £25, which is far too high for a game that was on Sky. The club really should think about re-introducing the Pie and a Pint offer for live games and Tuesday night matches, the attendances were really boosted last season when they did this. 28,000 for Bristol City on a Friday night being a prime example.
Kitchandro Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Ticket prices are way OTT. I would let the Derby fans off for this reason as well, but they travel poorly everwhere so they still deserve stick.

Kitchandro Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 What have the Leicestershire Tigers got to do with anything? We have a successful Rugby club and an underachieving Football club. There are actually quite a lot of people who like Rugby and not football because of this. It's not an excuse for poor attendances though, much the same as Notts County aren't an excuse for Forest. The only excuses are ticket prices and what league you are in really.
