There will be squad additions!

Not sure of any details, but that's the talk.

Bert, you're one smooth operator!

Let the speculation begin...

We seem to be settled in terms of goalkeepers, defense looks steady now, so I assume it must be either midfield (likely some wingers) or attack (less likely) that needs reinforcements.

Who's this Gary hopper being talked about? Surely there'd have to be some outgoings too then?

Gary Hooper from Celtic? Has his name come up again?

You've seen the mercury boards as well this morning then.

"Sven to bolster squad".

This was being reported yesterday

Sven-Goran Eriksson is not looking to add any loan signings to his Leicester squad as he is happy with the current atmosphere at the club.

The City manager brought in 12 new players over the summer and is pleased with the group he has assembled at the King Power Stadium.

However, the Swede did suggest that midfielder Franck Moussa could temporarily leave to gain some first-team football.

"There is nothing going on at this moment in terms of players coming in. I think this squad is good enough, as long as we keep producing results like we have recently," Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury. "I don't think we should disturb the atmosphere in the squad by bringing in more players. They would have to be very, very good players, and that is not in the frame at the moment.

"Also, no-one will leave at the moment. Steve Howard wants to stay and he was important when he came on against Derby last time. I hope he stays.

"Moussa might go out in the future on loan for a month to get some games, but you never know. Against Derby, Moussa was in the squad but he might not be this week if everyone is available. Things can change."

My guess was that it was the usual Mercury spin, and that it could relate to the squad for the weekend with players coming back from injury.

We'll see at 10am.

I think it's inevitable that we'll make more signings this season at some point, it's not as if we're walking away with the league and if talent becomes available then Svennis will go grabbing.

Leicester City are planning to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, football director Andrew Neville has revealed.

Neville said they had already begun to discuss which areas of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad would need strengthening to maintain their push for promotion.

Neville is expecting business to be done, although nowhere near as much as in the summer when 12 new players were signed.

"We have already started to look at the squad and see what we need," he said.

"The squad is quite big now and, particularly with the five substitutes, there are more people not involved in the 16 on match-days.

"We are looking at where we may need to strengthen, but I don't expect January to be quite as manic as July and August."

Only loan deals can be completed until January 1, and Eriksson has already stated he is not looking to bring in any new players until the new year, although Neville said they did think they would have to recruit after City's indifferent start to the campaign.

However, that has changed as City's new recruits are now finding their feet, and Neville believes they are handling the expectation of being promotion favourites better than before.

"There were some concerns after the first few games that we weren't going in the direction we wanted to go," he said.

"I think the last four games in particular we have shown signs of improvement.

"We are still behind where we want to be but, if the players maintain the standards they have shown in the last few games, we can start to progress up the league and be competitive at the top of the table.

"There has been a lot of expectation and that weighed heavily on us in the first few weeks.

"Maybe it was a factor in our early results, but hopefully everyone is coming to terms with that expectation and realise we have got high standards.

"They only have to look around the training ground to see the standards we have set. The only way to be successful is to maintain those standards."

Sorry I was talking about Gary hooper. (autocorrect)

Do we need a new striker? Don't think that can be answered til we've seen more of beckford. We're pretty reliant on nugent at the mo, which is dangerous. I like dyer, perhaps we're looking at a right sided winger?

All speculation I know, but can't see many more players coming in without current players getting hacked off. (could see wellens n gally getting restless if they don't break back in)

End of waghorn too I guess. Not that that's suprising.

Schlupp has broken through so really no need for a striker. We are yet to see what Beckford can do. Perhaps we will get Tunchev back and we may not be able to hold onto

Sean St Ledger. I think that we may see another defender. It could be a versatile cover type player. Perhaps cover for goalkeeper. Then there's always the possibility if a top player were available we would get him in any position.

This will be about getting quality players at the right price for our first season back in the Prem. Also if Sven is totally confident in Michael Johnson he will want to sign him from Man City before others realise we have got a potential superstar. If Johnson is going to be as good as he was before his injuries over the last couple of years, he could still be a future England prospect. He would cost less in three months time than he would at the end of the season when he may be back to peak form.

Discarded bargains from quality European sides and exciting youngsters can sometimes be available in January. Sven may think he can get the players he needs at a better price in January than he could when we are promoted.

Also, we would have them for our push to promotion anyway.

I think telling people we may bolster our squad is really a message to the players that their position is not garanteed therefore keeping them on their toes

I think your right to a point. But as i have said in other threads they will tinker with the squad.

Some they have bought in may not look so good in a better squad as they did at previous clubs.

And much as i hate to say this Maynard.

If he still has not resigned brizzel will cave in they have no choice.

And we know Sven wanted him. 2mill we will take him i think
