Babylon Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Really does show how poor the business we have done is when that's the side after 15 odd million spent. That said, pleased for Big Steve, he deserves his start, go get em boys! The club have said we spent nowhere near that, and most of it was spent on the defence.
marbelladave Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Starting team just looks wrong to me........ I know I have the serious hump with City at the moment but with that lineup I really cannot see how that midfield can function, Wellens and King as the central pairing always get overun, whether they play side by side or one up and one back doesn't seen to matter. Neither Danns nor Gallagher are natural wide men so I can see trouble coming down the flanks if they play narrow but if they stay wide we will get blown away through the middle....... I know that is pessimistic, real doom and gloom, but that is how I see things at the moment, sorry. Still I've given my thoughts up front (rather than after the event as usual......), hope I am wrong so you can all have a go at me......
Fox92 Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I would have dropped Bamba not St. Ledger. Not a fan of Gallagher but hopefully he will do something decent as he played for Blackburn. Abe's protection will be missed in my opinion, I always felt the Wellens -- King combination is not that strong. I would always play Howard from the bench but I am glad he has the chance to start.
Petchy Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Maybe he fell down the stairs? That was the reason behind Rab Douglas' 'injury', and we never saw him again. Sabotage anyone?
Wink Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 positive line up... looks like were gonna give it a good go and attacking options on the bench!!! still wondering whats happened to fernandes though...???
Wink Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 also glad beckford is on the bench, maybe give him a kick up the arse and show he needs to work hard to get in the team! heres hoping howard and nugent have a stormer to prove a point to him!

Probably would have kept Howard as an impact sub but very pleased he's involved as he makes a huge difference.
Libertine Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 The club have said we spent nowhere near that, and most of it was spent on the defence. Exactly. And most of them have been at least decent so far. Beckford is the only one who has disappointed so far out of the signings with fees. Pretty sure it's 4-3-3 anyway people. Danns - Wellens - King.
psychonaut Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Johnson should be playing instead of Wellens. He shouldve been dropped off the cliff after Millwall.

I'm feeling the same, Wellens/King combo just not strong enough which will result in Danns playing more defensive role and Gallagher, well he'll be his usual hit or miss only time will tell. but then with Howard and Nugent up front we'll probably go direct which Stowell seems keen on.
Ric Flair Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Points to prove tonight in Danns and Beckford. Howard also must show he's more than a comedy character. Frightening that Johnson and Fernandes are out of favor given how poor we've been of late. I still don't see why Wellens is in our team, I hope Johnson and Beckford make impacts if called upon because we've signed them for such qualities. 2-1 City
