dave the caveman Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 No we should get on his back more. Apparently he can handle the pressure, so...
Jon25747 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Anyone that stops to eyeball the fans when he gets subbed off does not deserve my support

Moreton Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 pressure is felt by the weak the weak should have stayed at leeds.
wurmer Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Can't remember - did he leave on good terms with the Leed fans??
The Doctor Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 In the same way Mubarak left on good terms with the majority of Egyptians. He started pimping himself out to all and sundry to get a bumper move when the end of his contract was coming up at Leeds.
cc_star Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Can we just lay off him abit he hasnt been here long i know hes been utter shit in the games that he has played but is getting on his back really gonna help him ? Is there any need to create a new thread, there's already 1 or 2 active Beckford ones Don't think anyone's on his back, other than regarding his perceived attitude, Rather than Beckford himself, people are more disappointed that he was an automatic choice no matter how bad he played whereas other players give us better options weren't even on the bench as a result.
nuttytimmy Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 He's been dire so far, with a lack of professionalism as much as anything. He needs to be left out and earn his place back in the first XI.
lestajigs Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Anyone that stops to eyeball the fans when he gets subbed off does not deserve my support Why when did he do that??
Finnegan Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Leicester City fans in excessive abuse of slightly under-performing player shocker.
dan77 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I don't see why everyone is slagging him off! He's not being played and used the way he should be! We all know he's not messi or ronaldo he isn't going to pick the ball up on the half way line and beat every man and smash it into the back of the net! The more chances he gets the more goals he will score! Look at Dzeko for Man City now he's settled in he is unstoppable! Just the same old typical Leicester fans that are moaning about him, just because we payed over a certain price he should be winning the league for us single handedly.... Perhaps would be better to criticise the way the manager is using him and hopefully the new manager who ever it is will figure this out and getting him firing! Every Leicester fan jumping on his back is going to get him nowhere, let's motivate him rather than slagging him off.....

ARM1968 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Yes we should lay off himm he's quality and will eventually perform.

His attitude is not the fault of any manager and he shouldn't need motivating to give of his best. He's at a new club, on a nice new contract, he should be raring to go. Already there's every indication that the team performs better without him and I know which is most important.

You sir are the typical Leicester fan I just mentioned.... He's not being played in the right way and until that happens he will look mediocre, it may look like he isn't trying but he is just frustrated he wants to score goals and win games, if you don't think that every professional footballer wants to win games the you have no clue....

He's had **** all decent service, we've been largely crap. Yes he's not Mr. Energy, he's no Paul Dickov and yes Leicester fans like a player who'll bust a gut but that wasn't Yakubu and it isn't Beckford either. We knew this about him when we signed him; we knew he was sulky, we knew he was petulant and prone to laziness. We also know he had the same attitude at Leeds and was, sadly, still lethal there. I'm sure we'd love to sign a prolific goalscorer that's also hardworking, likeable, enthusiastic, young, talented and plays with a bit of flair - but then we're Leicester City, not Man City. We operate within our means and that means signings like Beckford. Love to know who else most of those giving him a rough time would have signed instead. Schlupp has a lot of promise, I hope he's got a big future here, I hope whoever we get as a manager keeps him in the senior squad and keeps giving him chances off the bench. But he's immensely raw and is, quite obviously, not a match winner at this level yet. Beckford, with a swift boot up the backside and the right service, could be.

Salieri Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Well said. Can't believe how many people have written him off already.
Kitchandro Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 He's had poor service and may well come good, but his attitude is not acceptable. Effort is the least we should be expecting of our players and the abuse he's getting is completely fair. I do not agree that if someone has talent or scores goals then it's OK for them not to try. That is not what this club is about. The only way you can defend not trying is if 1) you are injured or mentally unstable 2) you are so good you don't need to try. Look at Nugent, he hasn't had more service than Beckford, but has 5 goals and has stood out as one of our best players. This is down to his own hard work. People talk about hard work as if it's just another attribute, and that if you don't have it it's OK if you can score goals. It's not, it's the most important thing to have when you step over the white line. It is essential in the championship. He's 27, he's got no excuse for behaving so immaturely and being so disrespectful to the fans and his teammates.
Finnegan Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 But Beckford isn't Nugent. We knew this when we bought him, as did Everton; even Leeds probably did. He's got a bit of edge, he's got a bit of swagger, he is a bit of an arsehole - but he's also very talented. Believe me, if we could clone Nugent and have two of him I'd be the first to suggest his doppelgänger be preferred to poor Jermaine. But when you look at the resources we have available to us, what do we have as an alternative at present? Steve "Passion is my substitute for any kind of ability or athleticism" Howard? Schlupp? It'd take some complete window-licker to pick either over an in-form Beckford. Clearly he isn't firing and, as a result, he's been dropped. But if we can nurture him in to best then who in this league has a front two better than he and Nugent?
