Nigel Pearson

Hey Guys,

Obviously been keeping a close eye on the issue of Nigel Pearson, staying or going for the last few days. Looks like he is on his way now. From what i have seen he would be a good manager at any club in the division. As soon as he came here he got the defence sorted and built a solid and reliable back five. Granted at the moment we dont score more goals, but i would take 1-0 every week( Generally 1 goal is the most we can hope for at the minute). He has a way about his football, generally at home we play entertaining football and create a lot of chances but away from home contain and frustrate the opposition and try and nick a goal on the break.

Since he has been he, unlike other managers that have been and gone he has a good eye for good young signings. Chester, Brady, Stewart and Evans have been excellent for us and will continue to improve. He seems to bring players in to build a team, unlike Sven who has brought very talented players but seemed unable to get them to play consistantly as a solid team unit. On the issue of players that Pearson managed before and brought with him, Hobbs started slowy, but now looks like a excellent defender and leader. Fryatt, who a lot on here seem to think has had his best days has done OK for us. Gets in a lot of brilliant positions but just seems to have lost that killer instinct. Still a 1 in 3 goals to game record, so even with the missed oppotunitys a good record and i think once he starts scoring he wont stop.

I expect NP to be Leicester manager by the end of the week. I would have loved him to stay as he was building a young and very talented side, who maybe not this season but definatley next would have been a good shout for promotion. I think now a new manager coming in to Hull will want to build his own side and i wouldnt be suprised if Pearson bidded for several of our players in January (Rosenior, Chester and Stewart being the main targets) leaving us back at square one again.

At the end of the day i dont think Pearson would have gone back for a slight increase on his wage so the package he is being offered must be very inviting. Like all things in the football world, money talks and loyatly is second.

Good luck for the rest of the season and if we could have 6 points for your boys that would be excellent.

Stuart (Unhappy Tiger).

Cheers, appreciate that.

Pearson is a sound manager and I'll be delighted if we can get him back. I gather Hull hasn't been the easiest place to work due to budgets and cutting the wage bill, but he's made you a solid team.

Very good read, well written. I'm one of the ones who would love for him to return, I miss the Pearson days when there was more of a sense of togetherness. We were always going to lose this after the summer we had, and I hope Nigel will be able to bring it back. We've got far better players than we had last time around, just hope that he'll be able to make their talent shine through. First things first, a winger or two on loan.

I can't see him going back for too many players though, especially Rosenior given that we already have Peltier and Pantsil at RB.

Of course he's not actually here yet, but my hopes are up already and don't look like going down any time soon

It's alright, Thracian, we're here for you mate.

In relation to your right backs, obviously i havent seen them but not seen a better one at this level than Rosenior. On paper you have one of the top squads in the league alongside West Ham and NP is probably the man to get the most out of them. Maybe going back with that calibre of players it gives you a good chance of promotion as long has he can get the best out of the high earning pre Maradona's!

Like you say hes not there yet, but once you request permission to speak to another club theres not going back.

Your talking to people who have seen more of his management than you have here! lol

Interesting, if he does leave it's a shame (for you) he joined at a time when you were reducing your wage bill rather than doing a West Ham & retaining players to bounce back up, although by all accounts a certain amount of rebuilding was needed anyway.

Although not my first choice initially I'd more than welcome him back... A few on here have bought the false promise that bigger names alone will get us up, whereas Pearson understands you get nowhere without the team performing as one.

We were stupid to 'force' him out in the first place, it remains to be seen if he can build the collection of individuals here into a team, I just hope the owners are happy with an upward curve rather than the eternal 1 step forward 1 step sideways & 1 step backwards we've done under Sven for the past year, I fear though the fact they want promotion yesterday could lead to an unhappy return.

But whatever happens I feel confident our team will be stronger overall even a few under achievers noses are put out of joint along the way.

He does have a good record with younger players & we had some great loan deals under him of Cleverley, Spearing & Hobbs etc.

We have a very strong squad for about 8 or 9 positions now, much stronger on paper than when he left so I'd love to see what he could do over the next season & a half if he's given that long, & it is that pressure that I think would be the only reason for him not coming.

Granted.

Just my opinion on whats going on.

Fair play, was a good read to be fair.

Now back to the banter...

Fryatt and Hobbs must be crying into their porridge this morning! :scarf::cool:

Like a lot of people on here, I think there are a few names out there i'd rather see than Pearson. Feels like were going back in time than going forward. However, I dont see the justification in such negativity towards him. He's the only manager we've had to get us into the play offs in a while and did it with a very average team. I wouldnt be as excited as I was when I heard Sven was joining, but look how that turned out. If he can sort our team out then i'm all for it. My only problem is that we have a problem with scoring goals, and NP is hardly renowned for getting a lot of goals out of teams.

Now I am getting very worried. The very thought of him returning makes me feel

Get a grip.

There are far worse choices out there.

Perhaps this is the final straw mate? Why don't you tottle off elsewhere? Nice one, off you go.

The same Rosenior that broke Greg Cunninghams leg last season with a horror tackle

Why the absolute fvck do people not want him, I actually cannot understand it.

We did nothing but over-achieve, with a young squad that was getting better. As someone who's 18 years old (and was in fairness too young to really remember the MON days) I haven't felt nearly as much pride in being an LCFC fan as under our era under Pearson.

Absolutely amazes me people don't want him, who do they want? Dave Jones? lol

There are, but dear me, DANGEROUS TIGER doesn't half go over the top.

I'm with you.

Imagine dicking a league, taking youngsters on loan, getting them to play above themselves, together with pride.

The thought of it  Oh my god, I'd rather support Forest.

Jones > Pearson.

He's achieved far more in his career than Pearson ever will. Without the smear campaign, Jones would still be a Premier manager.

I think Pearsons way is to get the defense working as a unit try not to concede rather than think you will score 1 more than the opposition. Which isnt always the best to watch but is very effective. Like you guys said he did very well to get in the playoffs with average side. I think if you havent got as strong a all round side, its better to concentrate on getting the orgainsation right and adding the right quality player to that unit as you go. Rather than buying several players all at once and getting them to blend as a unit.

Had Pearson been kept on at the time when Sousa was appointed i feel you may have been a Premiership team by now or at least in the top 3 at this moment in time. He would have brought the right TYPE of player to be effective in a team unit.

Its not the fact i dont want pearson back its the fact that this smacks of desperation and to be honest a waste of nearly 2 years ,

as in why did the thais let pearson go in the 1st place? why was he not a good manager then and now all of sudden he is now?

I would be surprised if he told hull i want to go bk ! but hey money talks
