I was debating whether or not to share this story (which does, eventually, pertain to the legal status of cannabis), but hey, the anonymity of the internet is a wonderful thing.

 

 

First of all, I used to be a regular weed smoker.  Pretty much every weekend and a few times during the week.  I like to think I know what I'm doing around weed and I have never had a bad experience, even when I was dabbling in super strength "cheese weed" and the like.  I restrict myself to the odd cookie since I stopped smoking tobacco.

 

Last night I was walking home from my works Xmas do late on, around midnight, I was about half a mile from home and passing through a slightly rough bit of Glasgow (I know, I know, har har    ).  I was a bit drunk, but not terribly so.

 

I walked past two lads having "a wee shmoke" and caught a whiff of what I thought was a skunky smell.  Being a bit drunk and lairy, I accosted the smokers with "Eh up?  THAT Smells a bit nawty, fellahs!".  The lads having a smoke turned out to be 17 years old and from Latvia.  They were all giggly we got talking and they offered me a smoke of what they were smoking.

 

Now I should be old enought to have known better, but with my beer soaked brain, I thought "Ah, what the hell..." and, probably in an effort to re-live old glories, had several large drags on the joint.

 

Big mistake.

 

It's wasn't just Cannabis - I had taken a few big tokes on a "Jeffrey".  Thanks, Latvians...

 

Fvck knows what the joint was adulterated with, but by the time I got home, I was tripping balls.  No sleep for me as I spent several hours seeing magic lights and shapes and reality folding in on itself.  I lay giggling as I was fascinated by the detail of my bedside wall .  Anyone who has smoked weed (even the superskunky stuff) will tell you that those aren't the effects of cannabis. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced. 

 

Eventually, in the small hours, it wore off. 

 

I had to get to work this first thing this morning for an important meeting and I looked rough.  People who had seen me leave the pub at about 11:00pm, at which stage I was still perfectly well, asked me if I had gone on to a club until the early hours or something.  I had eyes like sheep's cvnts.  I regret that I contributed only intermittently to the meeting.

 

The moral of the story?

 

Well it SHOULD be that one shouldn't accept a smoke from Latvian teenagers in the street you have only just met, but for me, the REAL moral of the story is that if weed was legal, I could buy it from Tesco safe in the knowledge that I am going to get a mild buzz, rather than "opening the doors of perception". 

 

I don't blame myself for last night's debacle.  I blame this country's continued prohibition of the sale and use of cannabis.

 

 

Free the weed.

Oh it's a disgrace don't get me wrong. I hate how people, not just people who drink far too much, put so much unneeded pressure on our emergency services.

People need to drink responsibly/learn to handle it, or don't drink at all. I go out and drink obviously, I've been in states before and don't some stupid things but I'd never get in a state where I need to go to hospital.

Try having people smoke it inside (illegal), making it impossible for you to actually do your job then having them act like you owe them something with some stuck up attitude. There's even dealers walking around and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it, it takes the piss.
