You cant seriously believe that putting the sale of class A drugs in the hands of private companies is a good idea. Putting it in the hands of companies that are solely driven by profit would only see an increase the number of addicts.

I can see the adverts now on the bill boards at footy grounds. 'When your strikers won't shoot don't worry, shoot up after the match with Browns pick me up. Premium grade heroin for the gentleman.'

If some one is willing to pay for any medical care they require due to damages to their body and are held accountable for any thing they do under the influence the same as alcohol I see no problem.

in response to the highlighted statement I've not said once in this thread that everyone should start taking drugs. If Heroin was made legal everyone wouldn't rush to the chemists to shoot up, because they are aware of the consequences. I personally believe it would be foolish to start taking heroin but it is not the place of a group of moralists to decide what people can do to their own bodies.

Agree with you, never legalise it but I think the idea of the addict going to the government to get Heroin rather than a dealer should be looked at. Strict regulations and guidelines and a potential way to try and get people to stop.

I was debating whether or not to share this story (which does, eventually, pertain to the legal status of cannabis), but hey, the anonymity of the internet is a wonderful thing.

 

 

First of all, I used to be a regular weed smoker.  Pretty much every weekend and a few times during the week.  I like to think I know what I'm doing around weed and I have never had a bad experience, even when I was dabbling in super strength "cheese weed" and the like.  I restrict myself to the odd cookie since I stopped smoking tobacco.

 

Last night I was walking home from my works Xmas do late on, around midnight, I was about half a mile from home and passing through a slightly rough bit of Glasgow (I know, I know, har har    ).  I was a bit drunk, but not terribly so.

 

I walked past two lads having "a wee shmoke" and caught a whiff of what I thought was a skunky smell.  Being a bit drunk and lairy, I accosted the smokers with "Eh up?  THAT Smells a bit nawty, fellahs!".  The lads having a smoke turned out to be 17 years old and from Latvia.  They were all giggly we got talking and they offered me a smoke of what they were smoking.

 

Now I should be old enought to have known better, but with my beer soaked brain, I thought "Ah, what the hell..." and, probably in an effort to re-live old glories, had several large drags on the joint.

 

Big mistake.

 

It's wasn't just Cannabis - I had taken a few big tokes on a "Jeffrey".  Thanks, Latvians...

 

Fvck knows what the joint was adulterated with, but by the time I got home, I was tripping balls.  No sleep for me as I spent several hours seeing magic lights and shapes and reality folding in on itself.  I lay giggling as I was fascinated by the detail of my bedside wall .  Anyone who has smoked weed (even the superskunky stuff) will tell you that those aren't the effects of cannabis. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced. 

 

Eventually, in the small hours, it wore off. 

 

I had to get to work this first thing this morning for an important meeting and I looked rough.  People who had seen me leave the pub at about 11:00pm, at which stage I was still perfectly well, asked me if I had gone on to a club until the early hours or something.  I had eyes like sheep's cvnts.  I regret that I contributed only intermittently to the meeting.

 

The moral of the story?

 

Well it SHOULD be that one shouldn't accept a smoke from Latvian teenagers in the street you have only just met, but for me, the REAL moral of the story is that if weed was legal, I could buy it from Tesco safe in the knowledge that I am going to get a mild buzz, rather than "opening the doors of perception". 

 

I don't blame myself for last night's debacle.  I blame this country's continued prohibition of the sale and use of cannabis.

I*ve experienced the effects you described on several southern African weeds (Malawi, in particular) and a couple in Central America too.

It wasn't a whitey.  I was tripping.  Proper Aldous Huxley, at right angles to reality, not on this astral plane sort of stuff.

 

I've smoked stuff in the Carribean that left me unable to feel my hands and feet and yet was utterly pleasurable.  Almost made me believe in a Deity (the Deity was Jah).  Well, for about 5 miniutes, anyway.

 

This was nothing like that.  I'm fairly sure I took on board something unexpected in addition to the 'bis.

 

If what I smoked last night was "proper Sothern African weed", I'm starting to have doubts that "proper South African weed" should be freed.
