Around people who smoke it every day, and those people who do are all *****, and I mean proper arseholes. Personally would never touch it as I really don't see why you'd need or want to, nor do I understand how it is 'cool' or fashionable.

Do you drink alcohol? Have you never seen a drunken 'arsehole'?

The whole hemp plant should be legal. It can produce basically everything society needs so I've heard. Someone told me you can make car bodies out of the pisser and it can be turned into some material that is stronger than steel.

If we started lots of hemp farms we could kick start mass production, which is seriously lacking, in this country again.

That said, I'm not up for legalising all street drugs. I've seen the effects of many of them and they're very destructive. While certain agencies make billions from trafficking though, the drama will continue.

Although they are of the same family, the plants which contain the psychoactive compounds (thc) are unsuitable as producers of hemp, whilst those that are contain no useful amount of thc.

If you wish to become a drug addict, I recommend you begin with cannabis.

Stupid comment.

If you want to become a drug addict begin with alcohol - a substance that actually impairs decision making.

This.

Alcohol is almost universally the first drug people try; if there is a 'gateway' drug, then it's alcohol, not marajuana.

People who smoke it every day and probably going to be, the same as people that drink alcohol every day. It doesn't mean that everyone who does is like that.

Do you drink? If you drink then you can surely understand why anyone does any drugs.

I don't think even this is true; the kind of people who sit around wasted all day would do so regardless of their drug of choice. Their drug use is incidental.

I smoke weed every evening, and have done so for 30+ years. The same is true of 90% of my friends. All of us have careers; all of us have our own home; all of us have normal, stable families. Just normal people, living normal lives.

Interestingly, none of us drink alcohol.

At all, or just in mild or moderate numbers?

Interesting. A group friends that are tee-total? Have you all got kids?

Yeah, like I said, completely normal, unremarkable people.

I'll add that the occupations of the group include two nurses, three social workers, a firefighter, a barrister, two teachers, and a clinical psychologist.

Stupid comment. So you are saying that cannabis doesn't impair decision making? For Christ's sake get half a brain.

Not being critical btw, just curious, as i know people who don't drink, as they have never drank before, or others who don't trust themselves, but not known a group where all don't. Given most of professions I can understand why.

I myself have cut back considerably, as I used to put some away back in the day, but I can do without it, it is nice to loosen up a little once and while (and by that don't mean smashed).

We all have different reasons for not drinking, but personally I find alcohol a vastly over-rated drug. I work hard, and I'm a hands-on parent - weed is my way of de-stressing at the end of a day. Edited by Buce

I feel genuinely sorry for you. You must have a really unhappy life to feel so bitter and agitated by how others choose to live their lives.

I harm no-one, and I live a productive life. What does it matter to you how I choose to chill?

Pretty much a public sector gang there,as a self employed person it's nice to know where my hard earned tax is going.I'll work a few more hours this week if you want so you can all light an extra one up.
