sphericalfox Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 So I was wondering the other day that with virtually every LCFC player who roams the Twittersphere, claims to be heading down Nandos for their loverly chicken nom noms, but with the advocation of PR gurus, I wondered do the actual players eat in Nandos, or say they eat in Nandos. Can anyone confirm, I don't search their photos for traces of Piri-piri sauce on the faces of the player? It just seems like a very conveinant advertising mechanism. The lads mention Nando's at every opportunity and they either don't pay or get sponsorship. But that's my negative cynicism, maybe Nando's is truly delicious and the perfect antidote to a hard days training.
StanSP Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 I found out the other day that Nandos do a 'black card' thing where you get discount off meals if you promote them. Usually only given out to celebrities or high-profile people. I think, though. I could be totally wrong and just fed a load of bull-shit.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 Two points I'd like to make, taking both sides. It's not unknown for restaurants to give people like sports and movie stars concessions to eat at their places. Having the stars in draws in extra punters. If you're earning £10,000+ a week... why would you eat at Nandos?

Kent Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 Wasn't there a photo floating around of Waggy picking one up once? Wouldn't surprise me if they did use them.
Guest MattP Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 Must be some sort of PR thing, I'm not a millionaire but if I'm in town to eat ill go somewhere far more upmarket than Nandos.

Guest MattP Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 Nandos over everything. Some of those lovely restaurants in the High Cross and you would choose Nandos? The same people who eat in Nandos are the same sort of people who go to Maryland chicken.
Samilktray Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 I'd choose Nandos over uncooked fish, quit your bitching.

Imagine their fitness levels if they ate at The Real China, Mem Saab and Handmade Burger Co every other night!!! BBQ'd chicken, rice and salad will be the sort of things they're allowed to eat. Your last comment is misguided, Maryland is utter shite, but Nando's isn't bad at all.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 They get a black card which entitles them to free meals...

You also left out 1573, best place I've been to in Leicester, though I agree Mem Saab is good....
Langston Posted 25 November 2011 Posted 25 November 2011 London Road is home to the best food in Leicester.

FoxesAreBlue Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 This could all be a load of bull, but someone once told me that when player (of any club) plays in a game that's live on tv, at the end of the match if they drank lucozade and showed the bottle label on the telly as they walked off the pitch then they got a cash bonus, which most clubs used to contribute to end of season shindigs or team bonding trips etc - not too sure how true it is but is possible. Maybe the nandos thig is similar
Saxondale Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I don't understand the whole Nando's thing. It is literally just chicken and Encona sauce - but 5 times the price.
Christoph Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I don't understand the whole Nando's thing. It is literally just chicken and Encona sauce - but 5 times the price. I always think this. It's litterlay a posh peri-peri chicken or bbq base. Its way overpriced considering its just chicken and chips. Your essentially paying to sit in a nice big room really. La Tasca > Nandos
Bob Farley Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 if i was earning as much as they do i would eat Nandos all the time!
Saxondale Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 if i was earning as much as they do i would eat Nandos all the time! If I was on their money, I'd eat at somewhere far more interesting than Nando's.
Bryn Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I think Nandos do give out black cards, I've heard that too. It's fair enough, good publicity to have stars in the place. I think Nandos is popular with sportspeople in general because it's fast food that's relatively undamaging to someone watching their health. Lots of protein and some relatively unfatty accompaniments,

If you're earning £10,000+ a week... why would you eat at Nandos? Same reason that they fly on low-cost airlines - they don't want to pay stupid prices for more elegant food or £3000 for a first class plane ticket when the alternative gets you there for £300.
Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 if i was earning as much as they do i would eat Nandos all the time! Why not treat yourself and go the plant once in a while for steak night....
Rincewind Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I had a mixed grill in the Wetherspoons in Workington on Friday. Wasnt bad.
