StanSP Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I don't think footballers care about the price. If they like the food there, let them eat there. What's the problem? It's their money they are spending, not yours.
????? Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Nando's UK is endorsed by many celebrities in exchange for a 'Black Card' which offers them free Nando's for up to five people at any one time.
Dr The Singh Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Nando's UK is endorsed by many celebrities in exchange for a 'Black Card' which offers them free Nando's for up to five people at any one time. Look, foood or eating out should have nothing to do wealth, whatever the brand if you like it, then why not!!!
Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Look, foood or eating out should have nothing to do wealth, whatever the brand if you like it, then why not!!! If Roger Federer started endorsing Maryland chicken I'd be ashamed of him. It's a good deal for Nandos though, its cheap shit being shovelled out and loads of free press from minor celebs/2nd tier footballers etc

I think we as a public should be sensible to make our own decisions, but I agree with u and the respect aspect though!
Rincewind Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 If anyone dont like them spending their money at Nandos they should offer their own discounts and pay the celebs more for paying for their crap food. You don't know what they eat at Nandos they may just have the salad or soup then go to the better place after without the media following.
KFS Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Got chatting to a couple of Port Vale players outside the Gillingham Nandos a couple weeks back. They were staying at the local Encore hotel before their game on the weekend. It's purely down to their diet and the fact that the food is organic. Nandos has a contemporary image that appeals to footballers too. It's like a healthier option to fast food at 3x the price. But they're all on mega bucks so who cares!
coale39 Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Two points I'd like to make, taking both sides. It's not unknown for restaurants to give people like sports and movie stars concessions to eat at their places. Having the stars in draws in extra punters. If you're earning £10,000+ a week... why would you eat at Nandos? I didn't realize most footballers had a silver spoon upbringing.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I love the bloody place, I'd literally kill for one of the cards - who do you think we would miss more, Danns or Gallagher? I say Danns.....
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 NANDOS! Total crap. I got my money back the only time I went there in High Wycombe. Suicide on a plate!
Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 NANDOS! Total crap. I got my money back the only time I went there in High Wycombe. Suicide on a plate! I went once on a lunch break on a recommendation, it was cheap but awful to be quite frank, never again. I wouldn't take a black card if you gave me it for free.
John Matrix Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 If I was on their money, I'd eat at somewhere far more interesting than Nando's. you're making the mistake of thinking footballers have class
AmericanScott Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Chicken is a rich source of protein which is essential to any athletes diet. And who can say no to a bit of wild herb sauce? Has anyone tasted that shit? It's like God jizzed in a bottle.
Filberts Treat Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 NANDOS! Total crap. I got my money back the only time I went there in High Wycombe. Suicide on a plate! The first time i went I didnt like it. The trick is to try all the sauces and get a favourite. It's all about the sauce. I adore the place!!!!!! And who gives one where they eat and how much it is. It's not your stomach or wallet.

If you're earning £10,000+ a week... why would you eat at Nandos? They like the taste? Its actually very healthy for you... grilled chicken is an excellent meat for someone wanting to look after their body. look at the sides too... rice.. corn... bowl of nuts... good healthy stuff. AND it all tastes nice.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Can't see someone like Oakley eating there, I imagine him being into fine dining (not taking the pish). I'm not a regular, but I've never seen any players in there. I sat next to Kingy in Wagamamas once though.
Reynard Bleu Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 I like fine dining too, but not everyday. Sometimes I just fancy a Nando's chicken, m'mmm. Sometimes I just fancy chump of lamb in a rosemary and masala jus? Youdon't always want fancy food sometmies youjust fancy some tea.
Saxondale Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 you're making the mistake of thinking footballers have class I was never under that impression!
danny. Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 some bizarre thoughts in this thread: - Nandos is like Maryland chicken, Maryland costs like £1 for greasy fried chicken burger, nandos is about £10 for the same thing and it tastes 100x better and isn't bad for you - Having one bad experience in one Nando's in the country makes all Nando's around the world awful. Seriously? - Rich people only eat at fine restaurants, so even though these guys need to be extremely physically fit they are going to have a 5 course high fat meal with foie gras and caviar every time they eat. How would they stay fit and healthy doing that? Nandos is great post-workout/training food, mainly protein with carbs too and very low in fat if you avoid stuff like the mashed potato there. I often eat there after a long run, it's perfect post-exercise eat-out food.
SystonFox Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 only read the first two posts so here goes yes black cards are real and only given to the highest "a" grade celeb, namely Example , Tulisa Cuountstavrosalovolooooose, James Bond and Jimmy Page. i saw Konch, Wellens and Matt Mills in highcross nandos the day before the real madrid friendly. Konch got hot peri peri on his ripped jeans
Finnegan Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 To be fair, Nandos has got nothing on Maryland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3dWZAeu_gA
Guest Bilo Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 It's fast food but healthy, hardly going to give a footballer's nutritionist nightmares is it? I actually enjoy a nice Nandos on occasion, though it is rather overpriced.
