Leicester plan ANOTHER signing spree

Johnson and Fernandes were only loan players anyway and judging by what I saw of them playing I can't see Pearson trying to make either of them a permanent signing they are just not his sort of players. It will be very interesting though to see who pearson goes for as he has never before had the kind of money the owners will give him for signings, and if we keep up this kind of form under him they will fall over themselves to give him what he wants . Happy days. :trumpet: :trumpet: :trumpet: :trumpet:

I trust NP's judgment to bring the right players in if Johnson and Fernandes want out then we may bring in another CM ( playmaker), Priority is two wingers, and a target man. Some players are bound to leave in the transfer window: Oakley, Ball,

Two wingers and maybe a striker (not essential) will do nicely. Don't want to unsettle the squad too much as I think NP has already shown he can get more out of the players already here than Sven ever did. Not sure what he's like on a regular basis but Zaha from palace had a cracking game last night

Very good palyer, but i think he's PL bound

I think we will attempt these despite the outgoings would like us to attempt Koren!!

No!

He's like 32 and isn't even that good.

And he rejected us for Dull City last year, fook him.

This is just poor journalism, those quotes are from the press conference and the intentions of Johnson and Fernandes have little foundation, especially when Fernandes has played the other night.

I'd love Zaha to come to us but as GLC said I think he's PL bound also

Maybe he would see us as a team destined for the premier league though. Maybe not but don't think it's too unrealistic. By the looks of him he gives 100%, he had nothing left at the end of the united game but still managed to hold the ball up for his team. NP would love him

I think if Johnson wants to return home it's due to constantly being overlooked not due to Sven leaving; he's here to get his career back on track not for one individual. He has bags of ability, just been out so long so has struggled under the weight of expectation. Think he could bring us something new, just my opinion however.

Johnson - Is clearly a very good footballer but desperately needs regular football, which he isn't going to get with us. He'd be better of with a champ team with a smaller squad. Shame though because if he gets match fit he will be class.

Fenandes - Personally I think he is a bit overrated and appear to be a bit light weight for this division. In terms of fringe players Abe and Danns come ahead of him for me.

Agree completely with this

I don't give a toss about any individual. Pearson needs to finish January with a squad of players who want to wear the shirt and who have the ability and atitude to deserve it.

I've nothing to say about Fernandes and Johnson because they've both done so little here I doubt I'd recognise them in the street let alone remember anything they've done for the club on match days.

My guess is that both wil be fast forgotten. But, as in the search for the Holy Grail I just hope Pearson "chooses wisely" in spending the Thais' money. It is so easy to go wrong when you've money to spend in abundance - yet the reality is that every new signing needs to give us something on top of what we already have.

Thankfully Pearson should know where our shortcomings lie and which areas of the team need strengthening most.

Even though we're sixth in the table most fans would surely agree that we've not done our spending justtice so far.

But I'll be amazed if we don't become a truly formidable outfit in the New Year.

Six-one in three games is the sort of reading I enjoy - it's so Southampton-like.

Happy Days!.

Really? Fernandes was our best player for the first few games IMO.

Never rated Johnson either. But yes, both can do one if they don't want to play for the club.

I'm a bit unsure regarding NP having money to spend and whether he'd get it right. He does brilliant working on a budget, but I wouldn't be so sure with plenty of cash to spare

Peter taylors record with no money was great the gills and the under 21's.

So I can see what you are saying.

But I do think NP is a different type of manager and yes time will only prove this.

The other point people keep making is certain players are not NP's type of player.

How do we know this NP has picked a certain type of player for us and ULL that have all been the same type.

But he's not had money till now so we may see a whole different type of player now.

He's a MoN type manager that will play to the strenghts of what he's got and can afford.

I would think this is the strongest squad he's had minus two class winger's.

Keeper best he's had but no back up.

Back four probably the best.

Centre mid I would think the best he's had,

Wide men we all know the answer to that.

Striker's Nuge and Beck's need service thats all that lack's I feel.

Howard getting on but can do the job in this division need to replace if we go up.

Schlupp has promise. If we are not gonna play him get him out on loan.

Waggy IMO found his level struggles a bit so sell him on get in another class striker.

I'd say two wingers and maybe a new full back in January.

We will probably huff and puff for a striker, too. But that seems less likely with the names banded about and Waghorn coming back (I assume).

Pearson can't attract the names that Sven could, and for that we thank him!

We don't want players with huge wage demands who attract shirt printing money but provide little on the pitch, let Nigel buy the right players for the right positions and we won't go far wrong!

Foxes never quit, that is all.

like who ???

Prime example - Ricardo.

Couldn't catch a cold and Sven only bought him in because of his name, he only joined because Sven was manager. :dunno:

Leicester plan ANOTHER signing spree

Published 22:30 30/11/11

Nigel Pearson has been promised wads of cash for the New Year as ambitious Leicester prepare for another mega spending spree.

New boss Pearson will be assured of substantial funds next month to build a squad capable of reaching the Premier League.

Pearson's predecessor, Sven Goran Eriksson, forked out £12million on players in the summer, and chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn has promised to keep coughing up the dough.

"The ambition is still the same. We want promotion," he said. "I will support him [Pearson] in every way we can to get us there.

"He must see how the players are and the squad we have now. Then we will talk to him later on and discuss more about the future.

"I have always said I will choose the manager who can take the team to the Premier League and I believe he can do that."

Pearson, who managed Leicester from 2008-2010, has guided the Foxes to seven points from his first three games since returning to the club following a spell in charge at Hull.

As the Foxes prepare to spend, two players are set to leave after the sacking of Eriksson last month.

Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson is keen to terminate a loan agreement which runs until the end of the season, while fellow midfielder Gelson Fernandes wants to return to French side Saint-Etienne.

Johnson has only made three Championship starts for the club, while Fernandes has not started a single match since Eriksson was axed.

Dont mind them two leaving, Pearson with financial backing can recruit much better than Sven IMO

Rubbish journalism - the first part is from the press conference when Pearson signed and the second is just a re-hash of the news that Fernandes has spat his dummy out and Johnson is still fat.

Michael Johnson... see ya!

Has looked disinterested, overweight and distinctly average since he has been here. I was quite excited about him when we signed him until I saw him at Rotherham where even considering that he was lacking match fitness he looked no better than any other player on the park. I don't see why there's the assumption that he can get back to what he was simply with a bit of fitness.

I quite liked Murray from Palace when he played us. Looked like a younger, quicker Howard. Let's just see what happens in Jan though...

He only moved to Palace in the summer - I doubt he'd want to move on so quickly and, I'm not certain of the exact rulings, but he could be ineligible for another permanent transfer with the whole 2 clubs in one year thing - I don't know whether it's season or calender year.
