Because Gradel scored goals right? Not like his record for us was 2 goals in 36 games. rolleyes.gif

To absolutely anyone who watched Gradel come through the levels at Leicester it was obvious he could score goals at any level. during one long spell he scored at least one goal every game for half a season.

When he went on loan to Bournemouth he scored goals and was a massive favourite. When he went to Leeds whe scored 26 goals in 84 games - an excellent rate for any winger let alone a youngster still gaining experience.

It was only Pearson who failed to get him scoring - when he bothered to use him at all which didn't help. But as Big Al rightly says, he's gone. What matters is getting goals and assists from the next guy.

The idea of signing a winger who doesn't get goals is bizarre. However you look at it a team needs 80-odd goals a season to be competitive. You'll not get those just from two centre-forwards.

Would it be fair to say that you don't like Thrac very much?

Ouch, I can feel the sting of Thracian's post as the lack of goals this lad has scored is drilled in to us with venom.

He may be quick as an enema but six goals in 158 appearances is Wellensian. Gradel scored three times that just in his last Championship season - not in the entire period since the 2006/2007 campaign!

And as for Humphreys' two goals in 74 games for Shrewsbury, you could have backed one of the programme sellers to manage that! I accept that CH is quick from what people say but is he allergic to penalty areas or something?

We had another Scottish-based winger when Levein was here and he was so bad I've honestly forgotten his name. In fact I've often wondered if Levein forgot his name too and signed the wrong bloke.

Humphrey must have talent to attract so many scouts but in a way that worries me more than if he was hopeless.

No-one expected Frank Large to score cos he looked so cumbersome, but he did. This bloke sounds as if he should score hat-tricks every week but once every half a season seems more likely!

Sure, just what we need!

Why does every player have to score double figure goals for us to be top 2 material? Creating a goal is as good as scoring. We have players who can finish, we need a few to create.

Try telling this to Thracian

Players that don't score 15+ a season are crap, unless they're from the youth team, then they can be beyond terrible and still be the best player in the league - FACT (according to Thracian.)

Max Gradel is more afraid of crosses than Jesus.

Gradel's crossing for Leeds last season was nothing short of remarkable given how consistently poor he was at deliveries for us. Perhaps the same will happen to Humphrey with goals if he signs for us, although with that record at the level he's played i'd rather steer clear.

Lets sell Kasper, he don't score any goals, oh i forgot we have strikers to do that not goalies or wingers derr

I bring it up because whoever finally replaces him needs to score goals. Even Gallagher scores some goals - and far more than Humphreys - but our need is for wingers who score goals AND make goals.

Yet from what I've seen from the the visionaries who've managed Leicester City for 10 years they either don't want wingers at all or they don't want them to risk giving the ball away by taking people on.

SURELY the role of a winger is firstly to supply the strikers goal scoring chances, if they can also score a few good, but if they cant that is what we pay strikers to do.

True but you also have defenders that score from set pieces and attacking cental midfielders, not every good player scores goals

Thracian, wherethefoxhat and colcityfan are the three muppeteers. They demonstrate this with almost every view they publish.

They could even be the same person, frightening!

You're starting to sound very Pananoid Artur Askey!!

Well, actually, the further I read into it, the more I think he's probably a talent being wasted.

Pearson gets the best out of most players but wingers has particularly been a weakness for me, see Gradel.

Who knows, it's just a rumour anyway.

He scored more goals cos he was played through the middle at Leeds and wasn't anywhere near the byline having to do that pesky crossing wingers have to do. Which he is clown shoes at.

Perhaps the reason Humphrey isn't playing great is BECAUSE he has two players on him at all times.

Race between Murphy and Humphrey then and Humphrey is a few yards behind Murphy?

Humphrey is a player we need, no matter how shite he is he takes two players from the opponents out. Sadly our rather static midfield can't always be arsed to find that space

This sums it up.

Opposing teams need to put two players on him because of his speed, but we fail to capitalise on the space that gives us. Our midfield are too slow in getting forward to exploit the gap.
