davieG Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 The government has doubled the budget for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies to more than £80m after David Cameron saw the plans.The prime minister gave the go-ahead for an increase of £41m above the £40m already budgeted for the opening and closing nights' shows. The extra money comes from within the £9.3bn Olympic public funding package. The venue security allocation has also risen by £271m to £553m after the number of security guards was revised. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport said it now estimated 23,700 security staff would be required at Olympic and Paralympic venues next summer, more than double the original estimate of 10,000 An athlete from south-east London is seeking a sponsorship deal for the 2012 Olympics via online auction site eBay. James Ellington, 26, from Lewisham will advertise on the site with a reserve of £30,000 for which he will wear a sponsor's branded kit at training in the run-up to next year's Games. The sprinter lost out on sponsors through four years of injury problems. He said he had managed to qualify for the Games despite no lottery support, kit deal, or any kind of endorsements. 'Hard graft'He said: "I'm peaking when it really matters, finishing my best-ever season and smashing my own personal bests just before the 2012 Games.

London leads the world in Graphic design and art, with thousands of talented student designers living in the city, and yet they pay some big brand company hundreds of thousands to come up with that shit. They could have held a competition with the art & design uni's and got a much better logo for free.

The number or year 2012 does not have a dot so the only thing that makes sense is it really does represent something else.... 2012 is the year that Israel takes over from the US as the global boss. Not China, Russia, India, Turkey or Germany whose economies are all stronger, but Israel. Israel, by proxy, has already destroyed the dollar and is in the process of leading the US into more wars that will finish it off. Would they do it through a major world event like the Olympics? Or would they instead do it completely under the radar, with all people being completely unaware until the jobs done?

She unveiled a mock-up of a new stamp to be printed celebrating everyTeam GB gold medal win at the Olympics. The stamps will feature a photograph of the athlete or team in action - but only if they win gold. "I think it is just the most amazing thing. I think it's something the athletes won't quite believe when they see their faces on them," said Gunnell. Royal Mail staff will work around the clock to get the stamps into 500 UK Post Offices by lunchtime the following day after a win. "It's something to be very proud of," Gunnell added. "I really believe that what the Royal Mail has done is create a situation where people will think, 'I want to remember these Olympics - what's the best way?' "This is something that will really capture everybody's imagination."
