Jace Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Well is this a possibility now, i sincerely hope not..... Oh dear, and the abuse you got for starting this thread too
Stevosevic Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Pretty sure after the next 4 games we will be right amongst it near the relegation zone.
funkyrobot Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Here's a quiz for you.. 1) Which manager had the biggest summer transfer budget in the division? 2) Which manager gave Wellens, King and Gallagher long-term contracts thus putting them out of the price range of the rest of the league? 3) Which manager spent £4m+ on a defender who has no first touch or indeed any basic technical abilities? 4) Which manager spent nearly £3m on a panic buy with attitude problems who has no aerial presence whatsoever? 5) Which manager let one of our best defenders of recent years go to promotion rivals, for a fraction of his true value? There's a common theme which should be easy to spot.. Don't bother trying, seenitall is suffering from acute Sven blindness.
Thracian Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I thought we'd got too many points already to be concerned but I'm no longer convinced we're a better team than any of the sides below us right the way down to the bottom two. And, with another squad rebuild on the cards and our fans baying for everbody's blood i can see us becoming a laughing stock if we're not careful. All the players on the way out will be getting phone calls from people wanting to know what's wrong with the club and none of the replies will help us sign anyone worth having. Furthermore we've paid the most outrageous wages to people who just don't merit it. It seems we're not much better than the people who paid the bankers bonuses when it comes to giving people something for nothing...and I honestly wonder if that is reflected in some of the couldn't care less performances we're getting on the park right now. Overall though the simple fact is that the bubble has burst. All the boasting about us doing this and doing that has come to nothing, the opposition are loving putting one over on us and we've got precious little ammunition to argue with because so many players already know they're not wanted. There were times even this season when I thought two or three players - a striker, winger and all-action midfielder were all we needed to have the basis of a decent team to at least build on. Now we suddenly need another total rebuild. You couldn't make it up.

Guest Col city fan Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I'm sitting here in the lovely sunshine overlooking the sea thinking to myself what the fook is happening to the team. Yesterday at three o clock I felt a little twinge of sadness at not being at the game and shouting them on. However, it sounds like we were pretty fookin awful so I'm not really bothered I missed it. Make no bones about it... This team seems to be playing everywhere bit as badly as we did under Ian Holloway. That season was full of 'we are too good to go down'... Right up until the final few weeks when the realisation suddenly kicked in that, in fact, we weren't. As I said that season too, don't be fooled at our league position, instead look at two more important things: 1. How we are actually playing.. Which, all season, has been pretty dreadful 2. Who we have left to play Unless something changes, some little spark of form from a couple of players, to turn this around, then we are very very much on a slippery slope. I posted last week that I did not think we would beat Barnsley, not because they are a strong side... They blatantly aren't.. But because we look an utter shambles at present. The next two league games will be no easier at all. Who do I blame for this mess? That's a tough one... Partly Sven I think, for buying names rather than thinking about who to slot in and where, partly Pearson for his strange team selections. I personally don't blame the owners as I think they themselves recognised that Sven wasn't up to the task. Partly myself, I guess, because I thought that Pearson would turn things around in a jiffy..... Anyway, I think we actually could be in trouble.. This squad LOOKS like it needs a massive overhaul. It would appear that we need to be looking at avoiding relegation rather than mounting a push for the play offs.. Who would have thought that at the start of the season??? Anyway, back to boozing....
Guy Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 When this thread was started last month it was scoffed at in the main, now it could even become a stark reality. Everyone remembers what happened in 2008 of course with our "too good to do down" tag we had at that time, having poached Holloway from Plymouth that season in an arguably similar way to what we have with Pearson this season. All bears similar hallmarks to four years ago so far, with occasional flashes of brilliance this season (the same as it did under Holloway (1.4 win v WBA away, 4.0 v Norwich) but then some panicky and exceedingly poor performances in Holloway's time here too) - ditto re our current day inconsistency under Pearson second time round. You can't help but start to look over your shoulder in such a situation.
Dan Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I simply refuse to laugh relegation off. Literally every single thing that could have bitten us on the arse this year has done, I can't think of a single thing that hasn't and it riles me, and I feel laughing this off would too. I do think we'll be alright but we'll finish closer to it than promotion.
Cropwellfox Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 We have to be thankful for a piss poor Coventry and Forest so far, and the fact that millwall (who made us look stupid) are in complete free fall ...
Jace Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 TBH I think relegation would actually help sort us out at least the team could learn how to win again, did wonders for us last time and our momentum took us into the playoffs the following year same as Newcastle when they were relegated. I do not want relegation btw I am a plastic fan who cannot wait that long and wants promotion now
Dan Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Going down again would be disastrous. We'd go into admin. Seriously, relegation will finish us off.

Jace Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Relegation is totally unthinkable it must not happen at all costs, the financial implications could wreck this club big time 30,000 a week players in league one Yeah financially was a disaster last time despite our comfortable league title didn't Milan make a 14million loss that season? Our wage budget must of been much smaller then too
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Are we good enough to avoid it this season? Might just have enough points in the bag thanks to Sven... ;0( No, it wont be that bad, but we will be a laughing stock, come the end of the season. Our supporters deserve better, apart from those who wanted the Chocolate Messiah back!
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Lets face it on current form we are relegation fodder
Guy Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Despite spelling out my concerns in posts on here earlier today, I also don't genuinely think we will be relegated as we already have 35 points. Unless we hit total freefall (always a remote possibility I suppose but unlikely to happen under Pearson) then I think we have a good enough cushion against any threat of relegation already - even if it just involves nicking odd wins here and there (like at Palace recently) and drawing a few - a dreary prospect I know but that's all I can see happening for the rest of this wasted season now.Whereas in 2008 we definitely weren't too good to go down, I think this season we definitely are too good for a trip back to League One when least expected. Compared to the likes of Forest, Millwall and Bristol City we are ten points better off for starters (and five wins and a draw better off than doomed looking Cov.). That is a lot of points in such a tight division. Lest we forget, our points tally is only one worse off than at this stage last season when we were at the start of embarking on our excellent run under Sven, that was until the wheels then fell off after our away defeat at bogey side Cardiff in late Feb. As someone else said, it is strange at how our situations one year apart are virtually identical on paper yet things couldn't be any more far removed when doing an A/B comparison between the two seasons at this stage with all the nbegative vibe and expectation weighing heavily on all concerned at the moment.....and we're still due a third round replay in the FA Cup too, just like a year ago v Man. City - albeit against Florist!! I think we've accumulated enough points already to ensure another season in the Championship - although the reality is that we should be aiming so much higher than that with the players we have and the money that's been spent. The play offs and/or promotion is out of the picture now though and this season can safely be written off as another mid-slightly upper finish in the league, much like last season's finale. If that does happen and the Thais let Pearson remain here over the summer and into next season, then will be the one to properly judge him.
Jace Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 We won't go down we are Leicester we are massive Millwall, Bristol City and Doncaster will go down we are better than all of them...
cc_star Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Lets face it on current form we are relegation fodder No we're not, we're 17th on form since NP joined us, nowhere near good enough (freakin obviously), but if you're going to make a point, at least make a correct one Just 1pt worse off than long-time leaders Southampton & 2pts off resurgent Middlesborough over the same time period Yes, we're bad... but it's a million miles away from the disaster you'd think it was by reading the morons on here
Guy Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Agreed Jace Hobbs, although I'm surprised you haven't included Cov. in the relegation frame. I know they used to be the houdini side in the 80s in Division One as it was then but I can't see them escaping the drop this season - though stranger things have happened. It would be funny to see them and Forest both go.....
Nickfosse Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 No, it wont be that bad, but we will be a laughing stock, come the end of the season. Our supporters deserve better, apart from those who wanted the Chocolate Messiah back! Apart from the 2 years when Pearson was last here, we have been a laughing stock since Milan took over so we should be well used to it
Kitchandro Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 We'll never agree chaps, even if Nige takes us down it will be Sven's fault - bet you would rather that than get into the play offs with Sven and have to eat your words - we'll never know now - all we know is that since he went things have got worse and we are further adrift - one good win away from the play offs and 2 from automatic with Sven and 13 from automatic with Nige - Oh Dear, when will you admit you have got it wrong boys, Top should have gone and Sven should have stayed but no, we drew the short straw and our old average manager back and a man child to run the club - you obviously don't remember any of the managers we had between Taylor and Nige as most of them couldn't cut it (including Holloway and Sousa and Basset and Levein and Kelly and Allen). You talk out your arse and as with Weale gate, you get what you wish for and it doesn't work out and you can't handle it - sad sad sad And if Sven had stayed and we were in a similar position (likely) it would have been the fans and Wellens' fault. We shouldn't have appointed Sven at all. Or Sousa. THOSE were our mistakes
