Aleksz Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Just got this today, never played a football manager game before, so any tips for a beginner? Take your time i guess, if you rush pre-season, your ****ed. Just think before you make decisions also, the game is as relaistic as they come so make well thought out decisions i guess.. EDIT: my god that was poor advice.
General Smuts Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Tim Vickery wrote a lengthy piece on a player I've seen mentioned in this thread http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2011/11/promising_peruvian_striker_and.html Andy Polo - may have to try and grab him myself now.... Told everyone I could predict the future.

Tincy Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Just got this today, any decent facepacks knocking around?? Thanks.
Finnegan Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Just got this today, any decent facepacks knocking around?? Thanks. If you like cut-outs there's hundreds, check out sortitoutsi for a megapack that's got most of the major leagues done already. Standard facepacks are coming along much, much slower. There's a few here to choose from but not as thoroughly as last season. I've just got the latest OPZ skin which is really nice (although only in Beta at the moment) and it's got the panels that allow bigger facepacks, so I might start making Trinity style if I can be bothered, 'cos it looks fantastic but really there aren't many made at the moment. I'm hoping that now skinners are releasing skins with the large picture panels in them that people will start making the larger image facepacks 'cos at the moment the old tiny styles are way more popular, for some reason.
DB11 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 How do you have 7 subs Premier League and League Cup competitions do.
Finnegan Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I've made a Leicester facepack. You can download it by clicking Dave Nugent below. I've done the entire first team but there's a few reserves missing because, frankly, I couldn't be bothered. If you're actually using Tom Parkes or Elliot Chamberlain then, er, you're doing it wrong. I warn you, these will look naff without a skin like OPZ Beam as they're done in the Trinity style. The default skin (and a few of the early custom skins) aren't compatible with the 300 x 300 player image frames but OPZ is. If you don't like OPZ (freak) then shop around on sortitoutsi, the official forums, or FM Base (they generally all have the same skins) and see if there's anything out yet that enables larger panels.
The Doctor Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 How do you have 7 subs err, because the prem still has the 7 subs rule? Sat mid-table in the prem start of Feb - beat Man U 1-0 at home, despite being down to 10 men for the best part of an hour. 2 changes to that team and I lose at ****ing Burnley in the cup.

Finnegan Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Finding photos of Pier Larrauri was ridiculously hard. If you need any players doing in that style and don't have photoshop to do it yourself, I'm happy to knock a few up if you find some JPEGs you want. I'm not doing entire packs, though, I really can't be bothered. I'm desperately hoping celtfan on sortitoutsi will come back and pick it up as it's his baby.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Getting the game today, going to have agame with my mate for today and tomorrow with us being Celtic and Rangers like we did on FM 11. Hope I win the duel again after having more success!

Tom Cairney, Bertalocci (?), Lucas Anderson and Lucas Digne are the only ones I really need if you can
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 http://www.mediafire.com/?vqs6c4pri6d55g1 Digne, Berty and Cairney. Anderson you're going to need to find me a picture for that's big enough to be done - Google gave me nothing. Maybe Shen can be of help breaking the language barrier.

Ah, thought Lucas Anderson was some kind of Brazilian kid. Is he the AaB youngster? In that case it's, Lucas Andersen. Here's a pic
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Yeah that's him, he's being hyped a lot this year. Not sure, myself, looks a bit average. But hard to say. He's an ugly bugger aint he? I'll do it later, watching tv and waiting for pizza now.
Fox92 Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Billy Sharp: 22 goals in 21 games And its only December.
Narborough_fox Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Oh Finners you really are a star! You know the Ferriro you did earlier how do I get that into my game.
Brainy Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Started with Wolves. Only signed Scott Brown 2.9m from Celtic. De Vries Stearman Johnson Craddock (yes, seriously) Ward Henry Jarvis Brown O'Hara Hunt Doyle I've been put off by the amount of features added to the game since '08 so i've decided to try and take this game seriously and so far its worked. Birmingham 0-3 Wolves Wolves 2-0 Werder Bremen Wolves 2-1 Leverkusen Ross County 2-3 Wolves Wolves 2-1 Real Sociedad Wolves 2-0 WBA Arsenal 2-2 Wolves (!!!!) Leyton Orient 1-2 Wolves Wolves 2-0 Swansea Very solid at the back so far and have scored atleast 2 in every game. Standard.
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Oh Finners you really are a star! You know the Ferriro you did earlier how do I get that into my game. Lesson time. This might be a bit wordy but it's actually very, VERY simple - I'm not going to do a separate config file for every image I make so if you want me to do a few of these you're going to need to learn this! In every facepack folder there should be a config file. This is essentially a list of code that the game reads off, associating an image with a unique ID in the game. For the sakes of ease, I generally save my images with the file name that corresponds to the unique ID, hence why the file name for that Carlos Fierro image was "51013953" (if you saved it as something else, rename it that now.) Now you want to drop the image "51013953" in to one of your facepack folders, I personally use my Leicester City folder for all additional images I add for individual players that weren't in packs, so come the end of the year my Leicester Folder tends to have stacks of players in it. You could just as easily use the Youngsters folder I just gave you for the other three. Now right-click the config file in the folder you put the image in to and "Open with > Notepad." This is really simple, all you need to do is copy one of the lines that says "<record from="NUMBER" to="graphics/pictures/person/NUMBER/portrait"/>" and paste a duplicate below. You then put the number of the new file you're adding (in this instance 51013953) over the old number that you've just duplicated at both points on the line. Might sound a little bit complex reading this but once you actually open the file up and see you'll realise how spectacularly simple it actually is. PS: Remember, if you do this while the game is running you'll need to "Reload Skin" on the preferences menu for them to show.
