Bugg Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Currently sitting at First Place in January. I thought my season was heading for Disaster when Tunchev was ruled out for 6months following a damaged spine (although he ended up recovering within three months, luckily) Kasper was then ruled out for 3 months but luckily my back up goalie Stefano Kunchev showed some of the potential my scouts saw in him, keeping us top. Now in the January window I've got Jessim Mahaya and Carlos Fierro lined up for next season, although I think Mahaya will be sent on loan for a couple of seasons before he gets a crack in the first team, scouts are raving about him though. Also, Jermaine Beckford and Alberto Bueno are dominating up front for me. Whilst Johan Kamper and Gonzalo Fierro are on fire, I'd also rate Teko Modise as a great first season signing (If you don't have enough central midfielders already!)
Lamby Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Got Shrewsbury promoted from L2 via playoffs and now sitting 2nd in L1 at early November time, not doing too bad

Finnegan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Oh heh, sorry. Took me a moment to see what you'd done. You're trying to view the image through notepad, heh. That's quite neat actually. It's the file called config in the facepack folder that you need, if you open up the Youngsters folder that I sent you with Berty & co in (or the Leicester City one) it'll have a file in there that isn't an image file. It'll have text in it vaguely like this: <record> <!-- resource manager options --> <!-- dont preload anything in this folder --> <boolean id="preload" value="false"/> <!-- turn off auto mapping --> <boolean id="amap" value="false"/> <!-- logo mappings --> <!-- the following XML maps pictures inside this folder into other positions in the resource system, which allows this folder to be dropped into any place in the graphics folder and still have the game pick up the graphics files from the correct places --> <list id="maps"> <!-- Auto generated by fmXML --> <record from="43028376" to="graphics/pictures/person/43028376/portrait"/> <record from="85033423" to="graphics/pictures/person/85033423/portrait"/> <record from="28025033" to="graphics/pictures/person/28025033/portrait"/> </list> </record> The lines that I've put in bold are the lines that link a player to an image. It's one of those lines that you just need to copy and paste and then use to add in Fierro's number as per the image's file name. So for example, you'd end up with: <record> <!-- resource manager options --> <!-- dont preload anything in this folder --> <boolean id="preload" value="false"/> <!-- turn off auto mapping --> <boolean id="amap" value="false"/> <!-- logo mappings --> <!-- the following XML maps pictures inside this folder into other positions in the resource system, which allows this folder to be dropped into any place in the graphics folder and still have the game pick up the graphics files from the correct places --> <list id="maps"> <!-- Auto generated by fmXML --> <record from="43028376" to="graphics/pictures/person/43028376/portrait"/> <record from="85033423" to="graphics/pictures/person/85033423/portrait"/> <record from="28025033" to="graphics/pictures/person/28025033/portrait"/> <record from="51013953" to="graphics/pictures/person/51013953/portrait"/> </list> </record> The line in red is the line I've added, with Fierro's number, do you see?
Bugg Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Predicted injury length 6 months, actual injury length 3 weeks? Is Jesus your physio or something? Sorry I meant to put 3 months.
Finnegan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Heading to bed now, if you can't work it out I'll upload the config files separately tomorrow so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to make you feel thick, I do appreciate it's a bit eyebrow raising at first if you're not necessarily computer savvy. But I assure you, I'm no sort of coding genius and I promise it really is very simple once you realise how to do it. It's just a bit long-winded to explain. If I could physically show you, you'd pick it up in nano-seconds.

Hopefully I will pick it up soon for my sake let alone yours.
Donut Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Really enjoying the new game so far. Took over Leicester and had a bit of a clearout. Abe went out to Swansea for £1.2 million, Gallagher to West Ham in a structured deal worth £2.2 million. Kennedy has gone out on loan to Carlisle, Moreno has taken a loan move to Chesterfield. Moussa has also gone out on loan to Bristol Rovers. Sadly, Michael Johnson has also been sent back. Unfortunately broke a leg in a preseason friendly against Liverpool Reserves. Coming in was some much needed width. Matt Phillips came on a recommendation from Tord Grip for £3.5 million, and looks like good business. Peter Whittingham is playing on the left. Pulled off a bit of a coup by getting in Josh McEachran as well who has been absolutely brilliant so far. Also picked up a couple of squad players on free transfers: Stuart Parnaby has come in on a free and does a squad job, as does James Beattie (yes, dont laugh) after doing well in a pre-season trial. Theyve made Schlupp BRILLIANT as well! Early indications are it could be a good season. Ive won my first 5 league games, and have progressed to the carling cup 5th round......one of those results being a 4th round MAULING of Burton Albion 8-0, with the boy Jeffrey bagging 4 of them, all in the 2nd half. My players still arent convinced about training though. ''Workload too high'' a common complaint.
J.Lisemore Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Started a game with Bradford City, had all of £31k to spend. Current side that has just earned me promotion to League One at first attempt : - Ole Soderberg (free from Fulham) Yassin Moutaouakil (free transfer) Guy Branston Daniel Devine (free from Villa) Scott Griffiths (30k, Peterborough) Craig Fagan Gary Roberts (free from Port Vale) Ritchie Jones Josh Wright (free transfer) Kyel Reid Jamie Mole (free transfer) Doing okay in my first season in League One, 11th at the moment, 6 games played.
Finnegan Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 I really have to counter any claims that they made Schlupp "brilliant." He's pretty shit, tbh. If anyone can impress me with a screenshot of him aged 23+ with some good (unedited) stats, I'll happily bow down.
Fox92 Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 John Pantsil is doing my head in. He wants first team football but only plays the cup games because of my love for Peltier. Now he wants to leave, I offered him for free but Everton refuse to bid because of his wages - he is on 20k a week!! 325k to terminate his contract, not sure if I should pay that much. I really have to counter any claims that they made Schlupp "brilliant." He's pretty shit, tbh. If anyone can impress me with a screenshot of him aged 23+ with some good (unedited) stats, I'll happily bow down. I thought he was great when I first started, and then my opinion changed. In my first season, he scored in the first 5 games or something and then went all season without scoring. 'm trying to loan him out at the minute but no offers so far.
Finnegan Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Pantsil is pretty good in this. I played him over Peltier.
Haydos Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Ergh, don't think I can resist buying this much longer. Got several deadlines in the coming weeks but I wantsss it!
Simo86 Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Pantsil is pretty good in this. I played him over Peltier. I've done the same! I've got rid of Peltier and Signed Mario Fernandes as my RB. I've currently got Lee Hodson out on loan who will eventually replace Paintsil in the squad.
Dan Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 I actually agree entirely. But I'm happy to share any knowledge or information I have on the game if other people wish to use it. At the end of the day, different people get different enjoyment out of things in different ways. Some just simply don't like what they see is faffing around with little details like tactics or training. Some people genuinely don't like that SI add more and more features each year to make the game more complex and to slow down it's game speed. I'm the opposite, I love that stuff, I think Shen does too - we're two peas in a pod. But at the end of the day - different strokes for different folks. Aye that's fair enough, I'm personally unsure about the training, seems like every time I try and make schedules it never works so I just keep mine default and to be honest my players seem to develop enough, probably could more but I don't know, just seems a risk on something I'm not that good at. Then again I always make sure I've got top notch coaches, it's the first thing I sort out when I take over somewhere. the game speed comment, they've added things now where mine has become literally unplayable, I'm not too down though, it's a good game but I was in a superb save on 11.
shen Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Also, Jermaine Beckford and Alberto Bueno are dominating up front for me. Whilst Johan Kamper and Gonzalo Fierro are on fire, I'd also rate Teko Modise as a great first season signing (If you don't have enough central midfielders already!) What rep do you have (as a manager)? Professional, World Class? Wouldn't come to me unless I offered astronomical wages, and even then... Also, do you mean Jonas Kamper? And Modise is great, his versatility is priceless and with his passing and dribbling he's excellent in the attacking midfield positions.
Dan Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Apparently sixth isn't enough for Europe anymore!! Stupid bloody game!! It's all dependant on who wins the cups. I was in your boat, massively unlucky when I came sixth, the cups were won by Newcastle (7th) and Sunderland (8th), meaning of the top 8, only us in 6th failed to qualify. Basically, if a team in the top five wins one of the cups, then there's a free Europe space because winning a cup and coming in the top five gets you into Europe, so you'd qualify for two places so one of them goes to the next highest league team, obviously, the side in 6th. It applies again with the other cup, and once again if a top 5 side wins it (or the one in sixth provided another side in the top 5 won the other one) then the team in 7th gets a Euro Place. I was absolutely sick to see 7 of the top 8 get into Europe and me in 6th fvcking falter, what a load of shit. But that's the way it goes, came 2nd the year after so didn't need to worry but just backed that up with yet another 6th placed finish, thankfully, Arsenal in 2nd won one of the cups so I've been thrown into the Europa League 3rd qualifying round. Going to sign a big squad of youngsters for this summer seeing as I can't be arsed having my league form fvcked because of Europe, it did me last year, on the plus side I amazingly made it to the Champions League semis (beat Barca away 0-1 after a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg, best result in my FM history), only to be smashed apart by Atletico Madrid. But the thing is for a lot of these games I was playing with six subs so I know where my priorities lie. I've ended up waffling to you about my own career on 11 out of nothing.
Ozwin Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Are there any decent facepacks out yet? I like to keep them all the same style and that DF'10 one looks wicked but there's so many outdated ones with players in the wrong kits and stuff. Just feels like half a game at the minute. Some logo packs aren't working from last years either which is annoying. Edit: Found these badboys. Both torrents. Ginger_Fox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Afternoon all! Bought FM2012 last night and am very impressed! Anyone got an hot tips on signings for the new season? Could do with a MR and ML desperately but all suggestions welcome. Also - am trying a 4-1-3-2 formation at the moment with the following team... GK - Schmeichel DL - Konchesky DC - Mills DC - Tunchev/Bamba DR - Pantsil DMC - Fernandes ML - Dyer MC - Danns MR - Abe ST - Nugent ST - Beckford Have only played a couple of friendlies at the moment including a 5-1 loss to Spurs Any ideas welcome!
Brainy Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 7th with Wolves into late November. Pretty poor away record drawing 3 and losing 3 but home form is brilliant, won 5 and drawn 1 and that was 0-0 against Man City. Conceded only 2. Only defeats have came at Wigan, Chelsea and Spurs. Through to the LC QF and thats away at P'boro. Roger Johnson is a beast
Fox92 Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 I have just claimed result of the round in the FA Cup. Having just lost to Brighton (3-0) in the league, I went to Stamford Bridge and many predicted us to be thumped by Chelsea. Chelsea put out a decent side, including Lampard, Terry and Kakuta, and my side was my normal "average" Leicester side. Anyway, I ended up winning the game at Stamford Bridge, thats right; Chelsea 0-5 Leicester City. I'm still in shock. We beat Chelsea away by five clear goals, yet we fail to win at Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Reading.
Aleksz Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Defo wanna get the Trinity facepacks, then make a few packs myself, the project looks a bit bare as of now. Finners any help on installing that skin, been a long time since i installed one.

I got matt phillips in from blackpool who is versatile, the board went over my head and handled the transfer. Mark Gower was offered to me by his agent and is a good player Oxlade-Chaimberlain is available on loan, worth looking at as Arsenal only want 50% of the wage
Ginger_Fox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Oxlade-Chaimberlain is available on loan, worth looking at as Arsenal only want 50% of the wage Got the offer accepted but he didnt want to come! Stuck up b@st@rd!
Donut Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Got the offer accepted but he didnt want to come! Stuck up b@st@rd! That big money move has clearly gone to his head! I think one of the useful things about the game is the situation with agents. When they tout a player to you, you can also look at the other players that agent is managing. That can help you narrow the search for a player down. On the player search screen, where you can ''filter out unrealistic targets'' i dont find this particularly useful. Clubs generally seem happy to accept a structured deal over 3 years which seems reasonable because i look good for promotion so far.....so paying say £1.5 mil over 3 years for someone like Tshabalala who is offered around at the start of the game seems a snip. You have to compete with lower end prem clubs but i seem to be able to attract players relatively easily
