Fernandes Gone

Rediculous decision, unless Fernandes demanded a move - although had he been given the game time he wouldn't have wanted to leave. Wellens being picked ahead of him game after game deserves to be ranked alongside swapping Melrose for Tommy English in the all-time bizarre LCFC managerial decisions.

We dont rate internationals 3 international centre halves and one who has more chance of winning the lottery than getting in his national side guess who is captain and automatic choice

Just to point one thing out: When I quoted the one snippet about Fernandes' status at the club some two months ago, it didn't say more than "Fernandes unhappy after departure of Sven. Looks at joining other clubs, most probably Serie A." This coming from the Swiss version of Metro.

Make of that what you want.

Personally, I think it's a huge chance wasted. Now we're stuck with a literally immobile centre midfield. Wellens and King getting ahead of Fernandes shows how dire the situation is.

Btw, I'm not saying all of this just because I'm Swiss. ;)

There was a much longer version on the net that I read, I can't find it as it was foreign press. But it went into much more detail and he said he wanted to leave along with having a pop at the club.

Political reasons - interesting or is that lost in translation and he means to do with the change of manager?

He was here for Sven, not for the money or for the club

Shame for us

at times he looked awesome, really properly awesome

But like so many he failed to perform too & it was this failure to collectively perform that created the 'political reasons' which has resulted in him leaving.

Shame. He could have been a real dynamo for NP, but if someone doesn't want to be here they're better off not being here along with anyone else who feels the same

He looked awesome? I would say ronaldo and messi produce football that is awesome. He looked pretty average to me, and obviously NP must agree. To an extent Sven wasn't convinced by this awesomeness as well as he wasn't a regular starter for him.

Why do players not in the starting 11 suddenly become better than they actually are in peoples minds?

We had tonnes of people calling for Dyer to play or for Howard to play when Sven was here. They end up getting their chance and people then realise they aren't all that and turn on them again.

Exactly what I'd been thinking. Not playing immediately raises your standing with many on here. The best examples are Fernandes and Johnson. Over and over again we're told they are better than those playing yet when they play - they're hardly stand-out, head-and-shoulders, match-turning better. Just decent in some respects and weaker in others. The furore over the release of Fernandes is to completely misunderstand the way power in football works. A successful run in the team might make him feel better and he might have made a decent contribution. But he came here as a quick route into the Premiership with Sven, it's increasingly clear that isn't going to happen so he's taken the escape door. For NFP to play him because he's a name in Serie A (will he go straight into the first team at Udinese?) or because he's an international (so are lots of players) when he's hell bent on leaving would have sent out a pretty poor signal to the rest of the squad. GF decides what happens to GF not NFP. If GF had had a brilliant run in the team, the next question would have been why we didn't do more to hang on to him. And NFP is more interested in creating a squad than a collection of individuals.

Leicester City can confirm that an agreement has been reached for the cancellation of Gelson Fernandes' season-long loan from Saint Etienne.

The 25-year-old midfielder departs King Power Stadium having made 18 appearances for the Foxes, scoring once.

He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Football Club for success in his future career.

Johnson, Pantsil, St Ledger etc?

IF you trust in the new manager you must accept that any players who 'leave bitterly', are exactly the players who should leave...'

Let em go... Nowt lost

Exactly, lets hope we are better for it i.e morale will improve amongst the squad.

Don't think he will be the last to go bitterly either.

Johnson, Pantsil, St Ledger etc?

Hopefully it's just them & not anyone who actually plays, the actual performers

Kasper, Peltier, Nugent, Konch & Danns

All 3 should go. Still won't be surprised if Beckford is shipped out either.

He's gone Udinese apparently.

He has, loan deal.

Hope not, because we will need at least two strikers a target man, and a replacement for Beckford.

He has, loan deal.
