Bert Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Kasper 7 - Made some vital saves and kept us in it. Moore 8 - to be thrown in away from home on his championship debut, he was brilliant. Kennedy 9 - just simply a top class performance. Bamba 8 - Rock solid and a goal. Mills 8 - nothing got by him today, passing better. Tunch 6 - never seemed comfortable, stood up to everything well. Danns 8 - a goal and he provided the ball in for the second. Can't ask for much more. King 8 - A great performance. Worked hard, stuck his foot in and retained the ball well. Abe 7 - a lot of what he does will go unnoticed. Can defend and attack. Duracell bunny. Schlupp 8 - Always had the running of their back line and on another could've scored. Very tricky. Nuge 7 - Standard Nuge. Dyer 6 - provided support for Kennedy against a tricky right flank. Beckford 6 - kept doing them for pace, little support most of the time. Made himself 2 chances. Howard 0 - tosser.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Schmichael 8 - kept us in the game. Moore 8- fair play to him, got stuck in and generally dealt with Scannel well. Delivery was poor but harsh to criticise a solid debut. Mills 7 - solid at the back but wasted a lot of possession again. Bamba 8 - absolute rock at the back, put his body on the line, outburst at the end ruined a great display. Tunchev 6 - so overrated in my opinion, made a few mistakes, got twisted and turned, looked far too slow. Glad he was subbed because all there chances came from his side! Kennedy 10 - faultless performance for me. Only arrived back from Peterborough a few days ago and to come in and play with players he's never played with before full credit to him. Solid at the back, got forward well and delivered some quality set pieces / crossess. Abe 7 - ran his heart out and generally battled well, nothing spectacular but did his job well. King 6 - battled well and made a few vital clearances towards the end but invisible again for most parts of the game. Danns 8 - knew starting him would give him a boost and it paid off. Great finished, ran his heart out and battled well. Nugent 6 - another poor game from Nugent, touch was awful and didn't really create / have any chances. Schlupp 8- battled well upfront, caused Palace the most danger, deserved a goal. Subs: Dyer 5 - did nothing, didn't put a foot in or challenge, didn't drive at the Palace defence, just invisible. Beckford 6 - ran well, created a decent chance for himself, maybe should of scored. Howard - just sell this sell useless c*** hate him so much.
Walshy5 Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Couldnt make this one unfortunately. Only three away wins in the league all season and I missed this and burnley. Maybe im jinxed . Anyway was expecting to see maks of around 4 or 5 for Mills as alan young was giving him alot of stick. Also im awaiting all the Wellens haters to pass comment on the fact we won without him playing.
Mack Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Mills was caught flat footed twice and Bambara bailed him out. The starting line up shocked me today. What did Peltier do so wrong? Got to hand it to Pearson, he made brave sweeping changes and it paid off. Bamba and Howard need to stop arguing with the officials, I'd imagine Pearson will put a stop to that.

The first half had the feel of a pre-season friendly and whenCP finally woke up our defence were majestic with Zaha a tricky opponent at the best of times firmly in Tom Kennedy's pocket. I'm not sure Konch would have coped as well.

Not justifying him but Bamba was right and the linesman wrong and he was running on pure adrenaline all afternoon (see goal celebration) he just kept on and was lucky not get a red from an official who on the whole had a decent afternoon. Howard behaved like a sour old git whose career and legs have gone .np likes a big target man coming on to rough up the oppo in the last period of the game but there are probably better options available than Steve H
eastendfox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Much better, we looked like a side battling for our lives rather than a multi-million pound one, but hopefully once the effort is there the quality will follow Schmeichel 8 - looked commanding, couple of good saves Moore 7 - At fault for their goal I think, but a good debut Bamba 9 - Immense in the second half Mills 8 - Much better Tunchev 6 - Looked quality at times, rusty at others, and perhaps the cumulative effect of the injuries has cost him some pace Kennedy 9 - What a performance from a player I and many others had completely forgotten Abe 8 - Tireless King 8 - It's not happening for him going forward, but worked so hard at the back Danns 7 - Good goal, thought he was a bit too quiet at other times though Schlupp 7 - Hard working, given some games the goals will come Nugent 7 - Standard Nugent work Dyer 6 - Not great in truth, but stuck at it Beckford 5 - a couple of bursts Howard whatever Pearson 8 - He must have been as annoyed at Saturday as the rest of us, made the changes, and they worked. Playing five at the back is negative, but it was necessary from the start
Mack Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 I agree Bambara was in the right but all that abuse thrown at the officials is only heading one way. As it was he cleared the threat straight after the incident anyway. He's had a few cards for mouthing off this season and it's a shame.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Schmeichel 7 - Solid enough. Not sure if he could have done something about the goal. Moore 6 - Goal came from his poor positioning but ultimately it didn't cost us the game. Ok debut from the youngster. EDIT: Tunchev 7 - How nice it was to have a defender who didn't make me shit myself for one reason or another. I hope his substitution was not yet another injury. Mills 6 - Bailed out at least twice with Bambara and despite a couple of good passes repeatedly displayed a lack of awareness of those around him. Bamba 9 - Outstanding. Dispute with the linesman was ridiculous and could have cost us; as i've said before he must cut the dissent out. Otherwise repeatedly saved Mills' bacon, scored and made numerous brilliant clearing headers and tackles. Kennedy 8 - Very solid. Supported well in attack and dealt well with Zaha in defence. Abe 8 - Usual busybody performance. Did an excellent job of breaking up the play. King 6 - Defended manfully but offered nothing going forward. Should be commended for playing with a heavy cold. Damns 7 - Good goal and got stuck in. Failed to move the ball much quicker than Wellens which I found disappointing. Schlupp 7 - An intermittent threat but a threat nonetheless. Nugent 5 - Poor today by his standards. Subs: Dyer 4 - Poor. Repeatedly failed to show for the ball in decent positions and when he did it was squandered. Beckford 5 - Better movement but so fvcking lazy it's unreal. Howard 2 - idiot. Pearson 5 - got a feeling he got lucky today. I think he was hoping to highlight the imbalance of our squad but we won.

Playing five at the back is negative, but it was necessary from the start Some could argue it's more flexible and going forward it is positive. In a 442, when attacking often 1 Full back attacks and the other holds back and sort of creates 3 at the back. Only 1 player then joins the attack. With todays formation it can allow both Full backs to provide width and join the attack as there is still the 3 at the back. It also means these Full backs playing out wide have more targets in the centre of the park meaning our play isn't broken up as easily and more players can join the attack. Granted it does get as many players back as possible but going forward, if you have the athleticism in the team, it can be great for unlocking teams.
cc_star Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Pearson 8 - He must have been as annoyed at Saturday as the rest of us, made the changes, and they worked. Playing five at the back is negative, but it was necessary from the start It's not negative, having 3 at the back allows the 2 wing backs to push on, something which really could benefit Peltier IMO, attacking formation whilst having extra cover at the back Not sure why it's out of favour, I suppose trends change though, a year or two ago 4-5-1 was all the rage, not it's 4-3-3... 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 is very flexible and as we don't have quality wide men, could suit us until we do. Howard: -1 - how much longer until people realise he is a bag of shite. Everyone knows what he is surely? Today, was perfect for Howard to come on though, Nuge wasn't holding the ball up to well allowing our midfield to get on the front-foot, meaning we were backs to the wall. All Howard had to do was receive the ball, hold it up, allow Danns, King or Abe to join him & then get some posession going in their half. Good move by NP, let down horribly by Howard, it was an absolute disgrace. I hope the club takes action in addition to any ban that is heading his way.
ScouseFox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 What did Howard do to get sent off? Went out with about 15 left and haven't heard anything since. Someone fill me in, ta.

OzFox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Kasper 7 - Couple of good stops today Moore 7 - Not bad for a debut. Looks very well built for an 18 year old Kennedy 8 - Top drawer. Tackled well, intelligent passes and even whipped in a decent corner. Interesting to see him mouthing off at Mills towards the end. Bamba 7 - +1 for the goal, -1 for the tantrum. Mills 6 - Defended well, but can't pass for nuts. Tunch 5 - Barely noticed him, but then he was just a silhouette in the far corner Danns 7 - Nice finish for the first goal, and nice cross for the second King 6 - More involved today. At last. Abe 7 - Another tidy performance. Reads the game well and composed on the ball. Not the same player on the right hand side though. Schlupp 6 - Works hard but doesn't have the best touch and knocked off the ball easily Nugent 6 Dyer 6 Beckford 7 - Lively. Has a burst of speed to get past defenders that Schlupp doesn't have, and had a couple of chances as a result Howard 3 - Bit daft really
cairnsy Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Not radio ratings I hope. watched the Game on stream except for the last 20 minutes so i cant comment personally on beckford and howard's performances hence the "sounded" for beckford Everyone knows what he is surely? Good move by NP, let down horribly by Howard, it was an absolute disgrace. I hope the club takes action in addition to any ban that is heading his way. He's past it completly. I would be happy if he acted as a proper target man and actually did hold up the ball well. But he hardly wins any headers. The only one i could think of that was decent was the flick on to beckford. he does not chase down defenders even when he comes on for 20 mins. To top it off what he did was disgraceful, should not be mouthing off to officials like that especially as someone who is as "experienced" as he is
