Adster Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Really happy with that That'd be a good signing for most championship sides I'd say. But now, hands off Marshall!
EcclesallOwl Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 That'd be a good signing for most championship sides I'd say. But now, hands off Marshall! Don't worry. We won't be able to compete with you for Marshall. He's yours.
Ric Flair Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Really happy with that Big move for Bostock. He's failed to live up to his potential so far and was fairly crap at Hull last season after a 35 yard wonder strike on his debut. I reckon he'll be lethal at League One level though, as will Koumas. You boys should have a right crack at promotion now.
Proud_Fox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 It looks like a 2 horse race for Marshall and its between us and staying at Stoke
jock2612 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 We REALLY need this guy. With Gally as width Pelts keeps getting caught to far forward and is the unable to get back in position,it happened on Sat in the first half and against Barnsley for both goals.Mills has to cover which causes problems in the middle.
Proud_Fox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I think we need 2 more wingers. Marshall and one more as there in no direct competition for Lloyd Dyer and if he does suffer from a loss of form or injury there is no back up unless we play someone out of position. Neil Danns has already shown he isnt a winger and shouldnt be played there

Proud_Fox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Kennedy can play left wing. Yes but his natural position is left back. How many teams get promoted with a defender playing on the wing
TrentFox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Kennedy can play left wing. I think that's a good shout, especially away from home so NP can keep his 442 with a slightly more 'robust' feel to it. Not got LD's pace, but better crosser of the ball.

jock2612 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 The right wing MUST be the priority Gally should be used as an impact sub and someone who can offer cover across the font line

Tend to agree with you - and the idea of Bamba sitting in the middle of Danns and Drinkwater is intriguing as a way to accomodate Morgan's imminent signing (?) but I just don't think NP is going to budge on 442. A bit like Rhys Williams did for Boro' against Sunderland yesterday, perhaps. Suspect that NP isn't going to experiment, though ... and he's possibly right, unfortunately.
Callabinho Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Bostock is on the verge of joining Wednesday, could mean Marshall could well be on his way!

_Fatboyslow_ Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Not got LD's pace, but better crosser of the ball. even I can cross the ball better than Dyer bless him, and this is another part of the problem
marbelladave Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Just a bit of balance on the Gallagher issue...... First of all he does not play wide right, he plays narrow right at best. NFP encourages him to come inside when we have possession to make a midfield three, giving us an extra man, Peltiers provides the width. Naturally this leaves us light defensively on that flank, Gallagher does get back and cover but he does so centrally as often as on the right, NFP has been getting Mills used to covering Peltier, but as we have seen it is not ideal. Yet another problem caused by our weakness in central midfield.........

marbelladave Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Exactly this, just like he did with Oakley when he was playing on the right This does leave us in something of a dilema though...... Plenty (most?) posters are calling for us to get a 'proper' right winger, no problem with that, but assuming we are going to continue to play 4-4-2, it leaves us with just a 2 man central midfield and when we have played that in the past we have been regularly over run in that area. If we are going to play with 2 men up then our wide players have to 'tuck in' and help out, as Gallagher already does, so It is reasonable to assume that any wide player we get in will have to be able to play narrow. Is that what we really want?

Is that what we really want? Perfect summing up, an out & out winger on each side would leave us short in the middle. Gally comes-in to help out & Drinkwater did too in his limited match-time so far, the width on the right is provided by Peltier's overlap If we had someone who hugged the touchline like Dyer does then Peltier would have no space to exploit, but also a middle would be short on numbers with the potential to be over-ran

Babylon Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I would put money on Bamba not being pushed into midfield, one of our players is going and my money is on SSL still.

Why would Nigel take him off the transfer list then? Surely you would leave him on it because now clubs thinks he staying and they might not follow up their interest
Proud_Fox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Nobody is leaving unless they ask to. The only people i think will leave now is Bruno Berner, John Pantsil and Michael Johnson
