Jace Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 We can't afford Jelavic anymore apparently our owners have done a runner to Thailand
Vlad the Fox Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Don't be daft, this is FT remember. There will be a poll tomorrow :- Marshall or Snodgrass, who should **** off first.
Libertine Dream Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 We can't afford Jelavic anymore apparently our owners have done a runner to Thailand To be fair if they're not at the game on Saturday or Wednesday I might start to get worried. That will make it 5/6 games not attended in a row having said theyd try to make them all. Aswell as pearson mentioning a change in circumstance.

thybluefox Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 When did he say anything about a change in circumstance? I was wondering this too. Hopefully we can get this kid in today.

inckley fox Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 He said it after Soton, but with reference to a shortage of central midfielders, injury to Schlupp and possibly the impending departure of St. Ledger. Or at least that was my interpretation of it, as before and after he was talking about transfer targets. In other words, we're now looking for a different sort of player. Of course the Thais will be revising their ambitions. Hopefully that means lowering the average age and wage bill of the squad while allowing Pearson - and the existing set of players - a little longer to come together. Pearson's points average is the same as Sven's, but after four defeats in the previous six games before his appointment promotion was always going to be a big ask for him. The board knew that, and his appointment told us clearly enough that they'd already moderated their strategy. There have been enough big bids going in to suggest that they're still interested (Sharp, Stewart... plus we've just signed a guy for approximately £700K). The absences could be a New Year thing, they could be boredom. I expect they'll be more excited by our prospects now, however, than back when we were in the same position - albeit three points closer to the top six - after the Millwall game. I can understand people being a little worried though. I've occasionally wondered why so many players have turned us down, and I was concerned by one or two newspaper reports that suggested O'Neill had failed to receive assurances on both the time he'd be given AND the resources available. That said, I wouldn't pay any attention to the above remark by Pearson. In short, yes there's a chance there's a problem but were that to be so then it wouldn't be anything that wasn't already a problem two months ago.
James_lcfc Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 The lad's quality, be surprised if Stoke let him go to be honest. Have a Stoke supporting mate who claims to be ITK and he reckons Ben will definitely be signing a new deal. Pulis isn't known for putting much faith in academy prospects though which I'm hoping will work in our favour! Fingers crossed.

I have listened to various interviews by Pearson and at no point did I hear him state the owners were going to do this, just that he wants to bring the right kind of people in.

Do people read one line of an article and ignore the rest? How anyone could read it and take anything from it other than we've had to change our plans because of injuries and people wanting to leave, I really don't know.

It makes me wonder whether these people are like this with everything in life, misinterpreting even the smallest of things and sitting inside, in their pants with the curtains closed listening to love ballads. £1.85 million - 3 million bid for Billy Sharp, £2 million bid for Cameron Stewart, £1.5 million bid for Jimmy Kebe, £700,000 bid for Wes Morgan, £750,000 bid for Jamie Vardy, £1 million paid for Danny Drinkwater.
