Corky Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He didn't get Kompany sent off, the referee showed the card. Referees make their own minds up, we've seen players surround the ref and not get what they want before.
Guest MattP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He's a grade A cnut of the highest order. What goes around comes around for Mancini though, waving that imaginary card around last week.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 What!!! Rooney got him sent off? It was the ref, you know the one with the whistle. you must be naive if you think that the ref was influenced by the players, even naani didn't react. I'm not a fan of Rooney, and I do think it was a bad decision, but it was down to the ref, no-one else. the letter of the law outlaws two footed challenged like that, end of. unfortunately it would seem that all physical challenges will soon be outlawed, a non contact sport.

MrFox781 Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Rooney was the ref yesterday? Shit he must have seriously pissed off Ferguson after that night out.
whitwickfox Posted 9 January 2012 Author Posted 9 January 2012 seems to me stig that the only one who is a twat is you.... like referees are influenced...i seen referees and lines men influenced by crowds, but you probably never go to the games, so you wouldnt know.....f**king idiot
leicesterisme Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Oh fvck off. The referees mind was made up as soon as he blew for the free kick. Nothing to do with Rooney, just this nation trying to pick every tiny little thing he does and slate him for it.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 A world class player and a great ambassador for the game
purpleronnie Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 TBH its irrelevant whether he influenced the ref or not, the fact he reacted the way he did towards the ref is the problem I have. Despite being given great footballing skills he seems to lack much self awareness you would think after all the errors he's made in the past he would learn from them but he seems incapable despite having chance after chance....thats what really grates.

Raj Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Yet all England Supporters will be chanting his name in the Euros(if and when he gets a game AFTER his ban!) Note-nearly all clubs have 'card weilding' players. Didnt Mancini do abit of card wielding recently???

I agree that it is ultimately the refs decision but to me it didn't look like he was even going to give a free kick until Rooney got in his face

I think it's pretty clear that Rooney did influence the ref. Looked as if he wasn't even going to blow up for a free kick and then when Rooney did his "2 footed ref" thing there was a sort of 'so it was' moment and out came the red card. Usually I'm one of Wayne Rooney's staunchest defenders but he really pissed me off this weekend.
Corky Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 A world class player and a great ambassador for the game That's Peter Beardsley.
Legend_in_blue Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Unfortunately he always seems to get himself embroiled in events which don't concern him, have nothing to do with him and yet it becomes about him all the same. He clearly put in his opinion on the tackle, whether or not this influenced the decision made by a weak referee is impossible to say, but fact of the matter is this - his face was in it again when it never needed to be there in the first place. I don't like him. He criticises on the field of play when he doesn't like something he sees and yet he has found himself in far worse situations through no fault but his own. The fact that he was given MoTM by the ITV pundits shows a lack of common sense as well. Still, coming from a production team who can't manage commentary for 10 minutes of a game shows how inept they all are in any case.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Other than Aguero and Milner, he was clearly the best player on the pitch yesterday, and I wouldn't say either we definitely better than Rooney. Besides, man of the match was voted for by the public. There are plenty of reasons to dislike ITV's coverage but this isn't one of them.

Ignore the fact that he scored two goals which won his team the game? It should also be noted that Rooney's also seen Vidic and Cleverley put out of the game for months already this season, by bad tackles which were NOT punished by red cards. If Matt Mills had made the challenge and been red-carded, most people on here would be slating him rather than the ref.

I concur, ref appeared not to have even considered it to be a foul due to the delay in blowing whistle.Foy showed a weakness in his character and ability which should be questioned in his appraisal. As a neutral it completely spoilt the game, more importantly these decisions cost teams a fortune.
