I have woke up.. and still (if not even more) pissed about this comment, however i have just figured it out....

Nigel was referring to HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i think for the only time during saturday.. he was right

Posted

i think the delusions is from NP when he thinks that it is his old players that are brilliant and the new players are not performing, as he kind of mentioned. well if we look at it Kasper has kept us out of regulation position. pelts, konch and nugent, have all played well in most games. he has to stop blaming that this is not his team but start seeing what everyone else can see and that is his old boys are the ones who are letting down the team.

Posted

Clearly what he said was foolish, the only positive thing I take from it was that the reaction of the fans obviously got to him and I'm glad it did.

The most worrying thing as others have said is that we did not play as a team and gave up possession too easily. At present it's all to easy for the opposing managers they are clearly instructing their players to hassle ou midfield, this tactic effectively beats us as our forwards have to run back to try and defend or create their own chances and our defence is under constant pressure of a quick counter attack.

Nigel has to sort out the midfield but my fear is his loyalty to certain players makes them believe they are untouchable. Gallagher and king will never be aggressive holding midfielders but they can be good players as we know but we have to get someone in midfield to replace what wellness was so good at in previous seasons. For some reason he just doesn't seem to be able to perform that role anymore.

Sacking Nigel is clearly not the right option, I do still think he can turn it around long term but to have any sort of chance of doing anything this season he needs to get at least two quality midfielders in before the end of the transfer window.

My only concern is that we play Southampton, Cardiff and Middlesborough in three out of the next four games so don't expect it to get any better for a while.

Who knows they might surprise us and win one of these, oh shit I've got delusions again.

The point is that he can blame Sven all he wants it's easy to do that he's not here anymore so he's an easy target the point is that he's delusional if he thinks we are going to win a game with only 1 up front in the CHAMPIONSHIP! this league is known for goals goals goals! we have 2 strikers Nugent and Beckford and he only plays one. Oh yeah it was supposed to be 4-3-3 but it's the players fault, The players who he picked! Oh so we don't have enough players to pick from he said no Liam moore no Tom Kennedy no Taft? YOUNG HUNGRY PLAYERS! We have them so thats no excuse. It seems to me that he doesn't want to evolve the squad at all we had a good set up we were going forward under Sven now look! we are playing our League 1 team FFS. I thought he saw sense when he played A) a new formation at palace B) new players and he FOOKED off wellens i thought we'd finally turned a corner and then he comes to a HOME GAME! and puts 1 up front and WELLENS STARTS! WHATS GOING ON!

I wasn't really sure where to put this as there are so many Pearson threads, but his post-match comments yesterday really got on my tits.

I've explained elsewhere why I think what he said was absolutely out of order, but if we step back from those comments for one moment and look at the bare facts, it is clear that we are not good enough.

Some have blamed Sven. Well, for starters I said at the time that Sven's sacking was a colossal mistake from the owners and a depressingly knee-jerk reaction to one humiliating beating at home. Indeed we hadn't been playing well for a month or more. But we were getting harder to beat, and the players were slowly starting to gel. Sure, Sven made some bad, bad mistakes: the signings of Beckford, Ball, Mills (at that price), Johnson and Pantsil look more and more ridiculous by the day, but for the most part people were pleased when those players arrived. At the time Sven left they were still trying to gel, largely due to the fact that we signed too many (Sven's fault) but we were still in a reasonable league position.

Under Sven, I used to arrive at the ground expecting to see some good football. We may not get anywhere, and we had some bloody disappointing results at the start of the season, but we still played some good stuff, particularly in January/February last season. Often I'd leave disappointed, but at least I'd arrive with the hope I'd see something remotely entertaining.

Since Pearson has arrived, we've been dire. Utterly dire. In the home game against Palace we were immensely flattered by the 3-0 scoreline, as we were in the 2-1 win away. Other than that, the only game we've won is against Blackpool.

The games against Posh, Ipswich, Portsmouth and Barnsley represented 4 of the most insipid displays I've ever seen from a City side. The football on offer is even worse than that in the relegation season. And for anybody preparing to accuse me of hyperbole, 3 points from those 4 games isn't relegation form. It's bottom-of-the-table form.

I don't remember Pearson's first side being so dull. We seemed to create plenty of goalscoring opportunities even in the Championship (people bemoaned Fryatt's poor finishing, but he still ended up with 13 goals having missed 3 months, what does that tell you?) even if the play was a little agricultural.

Now there is simply no creativity in the team. I see about 7 or 8 functional players making 5 yard passes and dwelling on the ball, with 3 or 4 others failing to even contribute that. It's an absolutely damning indictment on Pearson that his players don't seem to have a creative instinct between them. Sure, he might say "these aren't my players", but 1) many of them are and 2) many of them have showed a creative instinct in the past. Gallagher, Danns and Wellens have in their time been very useful and imaginative players at this level. The lot of them now look frightened to try anything imaginative, preferring instead the long ball over the top or the timid pass square.

As noted above, Pearson continues to blame the failings of the squad on the fact that they aren't his players. Aside from the fact that many are his players, shouldn't a good coach be able to get the best out of a squad of players regardless of whether he signed them? Ultimately (Beckford aside) the players who have really under-performed (apart from Schmeichel and Konchesky they all have to some extent) are King, Wellens and Gallagher - staples of his play-off side, who Pearson has stubbornly played despite repeatedly inept displays from the 3.

No doubt NP would argue that he doesn't have any better options. Well, Nigel, you have come to a club which has some money. No doubt that's what tempted you back. Fvcking spend it then. Sven arrived in October last year and within a week he had signed Naughton and Davies on loan. Curtis was up-and-down during his time here, but Naughton was immense for the whole season. Decent signings, made quickly to address the deficiencies Sven saw in the squad. In January, Bamba came in as soon as the window opened at a snip for £200k, and Yakubu followed by this time last year.

Pearson knew the limitations of the players who were here before (which Sven didn't) and has still not added to the side. If Sven could see within a week we needed new players, Pearson, who knew half of the players as well as any manager in the world, ought to have been able to do the same. There is not a lack of quality out there. Many posters called for us to go after, and sign, Andros Townsend from Spurs. We were beaten to the punch by Leeds. Fox92 has talked about Chris Wood from West Brom, an excellent target man at this level. He's gone to Bristol City. What the fvck is going on? He's had 10 weeks to sort this squad out, and not only has he failed to do so, but he continues to blame our displays on the fact that they're not his players. If they're not your players, and you're not happy about it, show some fvcking urgency and get some better players in then.

I won't even get into the whole Fernandes issue as Babylon will shout down anyone who disagrees with him, but he should have been the first name on the teamsheet all season, and one way or another we've ballsed that up as well.

I can't help but feel that Pearson is trying to play a clever game with the owners, much as Harry Redknapp seemed to be doing when he put out a suicidally attacking Spurs side against Man City at the start of the season. It's almost like he's saying "we're really shit, you can't blame me, I need loads of money to sort this shambles out", and hoping they will give him the cash. The difference between the two is that Redknapp got Spurs to the quarter-finals of the Champions League the previous season, and had a lot of goodwill from the fans and chairman. It's an asset Pearson is fast running out of.

This fernandes love in does make me laugh. The lad was distinctly average for man city and distinctly average for Leicester. In that respect he fits in well with the rest of our current midfield 'maestros'.

He was easily our best midfielder when here.

4-5-1 at home! Disgraceful Negative football. Hinckley Utd would have beaten us yesterday. Not a chance of playoffs under the manager and the style of football at the moment! I have never been so dissapointed coming away from a Leicester game and see no change under Pearson. I'm not saying he should be sacked today but we will not be a top 6 team this season no matter who he signs.

Knowing Leicester this year we'll go and take 8 points from Saints, Cardiff, Brighton and Middlesbrough.

I find his comments insulting. Delusions of grandeur!!! epecting to win at home to barnsley and peterborough is not delusions of grandeur nigel. you've inherited a half decent team, so make them play if you think you are a manager. everybody could see where it was going wrong, so did he make any changes - no. piss poor. when a new manager comes in you expect some improvement, not a decline. slag off sven as much as you like, he would have attracted new players by now.

Attracting players isn't the only issue, getting rid of the ones we have is the problem, else they'll be hanging around in the background causing a stink bringing the new signings down to their level

Also, if our targets are to be sure to improve what's already here, then their clubs will need to replace them before they allow them to join us, the whole chain needs to start moving

It is quite obvious that Pearson is trying to save his job by saying the squad is poor and he knows what to do. So he is looking at next season, and given up on this, which is typical of the over rated moron.

His record so far, is a total disgrace, and way below that of Sven. Only blinkered planks and fools , can trust this blown up, self opinionated tosser. who has achieved sweet f==k all in his obscure career.

If we choose to keep him, we are screwed.

Sven also inherited a poor squad when he first took over, but he didn't moan about it in every interview after games, he went into the transfer market and addressed the issues we faced, something Pearson is yet to do.

Posted

Why would he come here?

I wish he would. The guy is quality and knows how to motivate people/ Give him the money, and he will produce the goods. Pearson ain't fit to lick his----err, let's say boots.

I don't think Warnock would cope here, with Wellens and the deadwood on the books they will probably start a vendetta against him coming here.

Really?

I thought they'd just finished 5th, yes the players weren't all world beaters individually, but as a team they were hard to beat & they actually beat most, that's something you can't buy.

Yeah, terrible squad

You're kidding

99% of the people on FT sharpen their vendetta knives at the mere mention of him

He is a good manager no doubt about it, players wouldn't want him here because they know their asses would be on the line but that is a good thing, best thing NP can do is get rid of the deadwood ASAP, otherwise he will be the next managerial casualty.

ayers

Pearson with all his facilities and time with the players should be getting more from individuals and significantly more from their combined strengths. It's not complicated we're simply not performing the basics to any acceptable standard, nothing to do with being over ambitious although I do think all this 'public' talk early on about winning the league and having money to spend has been counter productive in it's affect on the pitch and our ability to get in players with the right attitude.

ditto....

So good that they where sitting bottom of the league when Sven took over

Interested to hear how you easily sell out of form players on division-leading wages
