Darkon84 Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 9 managers in 4 years is the way to go then. Haha, ok point taken there.
Happy Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 QPR got f**king lucky getting Warnock in, then the whole idea was to discard him when they reached the prem to get a high profile manager and splash the cash that they have. I wouldn't put it past us that we are going down this route, obviously it might not be NP.
Captain... Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Except it was the club that sowed the seeds for their delusions by their constant talk of promotion, it was the Thais that sacked Sven for under performing, it's the Thais that have put promotion this season as the yardstick for success and this is assuming it's delusional to expect players to look like they actually know and train with each other, can manage a pass to a team mate, give a toss and to win the occasional game at home. These players are good enough to achieve more than they are doing we've seen it, if they are not better/stringer as a team than they are as individuals, if their attitude is wrong then it's the managers job to correct that not to have digs at the fans for expecting what the Thais have told them to expect. Yes it is the owner's fault they should have said that they were hoping for mid-table mediocrity when they bought us. I know we are not performing on the pitch, and I think that these delusions of grandeur are as true on the pitch as they are in the stands and NP is trying to change that but without much success. Is it any surprise that Tom Kennedy came in and did a great job seeing as he had been away from the poisonous atmosphere around the club all season. Allow NP the chance to do his job, and the fans should stick to doing theirs, support the team through thick and then, endure the bad times because we know the good times will taste so much sweeter. January is not over, we need to bring some players in and get rid of those that don't want to be here.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Well, Warnock is available now : ) If Warnock comes to Leicester i'm revoking my season ticket and going on a league 1 tour with forest I will fvcking die before I chant his name without the W word following it
Corky Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 They weren't bottom, they were 3rd bottom A dead dog could have got us from there to mid-table, given the squad had just finished in playoff positions A decapitated person could've got us higher. But even then fans would be calling for their head.
Raj Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 If Warnock comes to Leicester i'm revoking my season ticket and going on a league 1 tour with forest I will fvcking die before I chant his name without the W word following it Why? Would you have the same emotions if an ex Forest/Derby manager came here?

January is not over, we need to bring some players in and get rid of those that don't want to be here. Yet again on here one makes a valid point and the response assumes the alternative is to go to the other extreme, how about them saying nothing other owners seem to know how to maintain a low profile. I'm sure those delusions are on the pitch but again encouraged by the outpourings of the owners. Have I said Pearson shouldn't be allowed to do his job but it's disingenuous for him to put the blame for his lack of progress on to the fans, that's where I disagree with him. The players he has available are capable of more than they are producing irrespective of league positions the general play is way below the standard that we should expect, that is not delusions of grandeur as we've seen them do better. It's his job to make that happen he is the one failing to do that not the fans.
davieG Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 And that sums up nicely why Pearson said it. You aren't the only one thinking like that, it seems the people who are most angry are the ones who believed we should have been walking away with it. Is it any wonder when that's what the owners were claiming, didn't Sven say he knew what the owners wanted and that was promotion this season not next. Is it any wonder a large section of fans took them at their word. so many were in agreement for them to sack Sven because he didn't look like he was going to get us in the top two this season because they bought the Thais over optimistic, over ambitious bullshit.
Seven Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 I took my ten year old son and three of his mates who all play for a local team to the game on saturday. They love football and up untill the arrival of Pearson were passionate and did nothing but talk about the game all week. They were ready to go ten minutes before the end, not because we were losing but just like the last few home game they were bored shitless. The atmosphere has gone, the football is laboured and FFFing dull.We went to Hull and their fans were chanting we are not boring any more.Well we ffiingg are.Piss Off Pearson you boring arrogant, deluded anal twat .
ozleicester Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 When a target or goal is set for you... always remember, under promise, over deliver

I wouldn't have been quite so blunt .... but I have the same situation with my 12 year old and 8 year old sons ... we have season tickets, under Sven we'd know the likely team two days before hand and be buzzing about the game ... under NP I have to persuade them to come to the football by bribing them with something exciting to do after!!!!
Webbo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 When a target or goal is set for you... always remember, under promise, over deliver Doesn't sell many season tickets though, does it?
davieG Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Doesn't sell many season tickets though, does it? Not the first time around but it might when their due for renewal.

I don't think their profile is that high outside the club, we only know more about it because we follow this club closely, I'm sure the fans of other clubs in the championship know exactly what their owners expectations are. Mandaric never got slated for saying he aimed to get us out of the division in 4 years. If I remember correctly it never came from the owners that Sven had to get us promoted this season or he would be sacked, that was from Sven himself. We all loved the fact that we had owners that were ambitious and had the money to get us up. I think they have done everything they can to try and achieve that and to help the club progress. They want us to get promotion and have done everything they can to help us acheive it. There are a number of problems at the club, but I think the owners are the least of our worries. They have already promised funds for new players this January. The problem is not that the owner's said they wanted promotion this season, it is that the fans and the players seemed to take it as a guarantee, and that because we had spent lots of money we can just turn up and win. Also, having listened to the interview again, NP doesn't actually aim it at the fans he is saying around the club, I think it is something in the dressing room, as well as in the stands.
ozleicester Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Doesn't sell many season tickets though, does it? The over delivery sells a sh!tload though.

I distinctly remember Top's dad saying he wanted promotion this year or certainly intimated at it. I'm not doubting their ambitions or their input in financial terms my main bug is this slagging off fans and players who bought into the promotion this season, the fault for that lies with the Thais. I never bought into all this throwing money at the problem buying Mills for nigh on £5mill, all the outrageous transfer figures associated with Maynard but there are many impressionable fans out there who wanted to believe the hype you cannot then criticise them for being disappointed at our total lack of progress. If you promise a kid a knickerbocker glory and they end up with a penny lollipop then don't expect any thanks. You build a team and it takes time and patience I sincerely hope the Thais have learnt a lesson but I have my doubts.

I just think it is harsh to criticise the owners when they have said they want promotion and they have backed it financially, they gave Sven a year and we were going backwards at the time I thought they were right in that decision, especially as Sven was largely responsible for spending their money poorly. I only hope they give Nigel the same time and backing, and I think they will. The problem is this fan dissent could put pressure on the owners, what we need to get promotion is stability coupled with signs of progress, if we don't get promoted this season, it won't be a disaster, but if we don't get the pieces in place to make a serious challenge next year, then it will all be a waste of time and money.

My criticism of the owners is purely in response to Pearson's 'Delusions of Grandeur' comment which I firmly believe is the result of the Thais talk of promotion and loads of money (relatively to this league).
MrSpaM Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 This comment was aimed at the players, not at the fans. He was implying our squad just thinks it can turn up and we'll win without having to try.
Callabinho Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 I think the fact billy Sharp rejected us speaks volumes.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Delusions of grandeur! Are you joking.... With the wealth we had at our disposal and the existing squad of players we had (especially Hobbs), this season has been nothing short of an absolute fookin disaster. Sven signed players based on name, rather than making any attempt to assimilate them into some sort of team. He also signed some Prima donnas, rather than hungry, younger, up and coming players. Finally, he made Mills captain Anyone who feels content with our league position and the way in which this team are playing, given the fookin excellent chance we had is completely deluded. We have no right to success, and money does not buy it...but we absolutely should be doing much better than losing at home this season to Barnsley, Millwall, Brizzle and the like This season, thus far, has been nothing short of a disgrace and God knows how people can continue to defend Sven fookin Erikssen. That said, its about time Pearson sorts it out too.... Rubbish season
dogadug Posted 20 December 2014 Posted 20 December 2014 Why bump this?? You bothered going through 3 years worth of threads just for that?
