Always liked him at Rangers, his goal scoring record in the SPL speaks for itself...

Massive disappointment at 'Boro though, which makes me doubt whether he can hack it in this division.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kris_Boyd

"Boyd is typically defined as a goal poacher, whose key attribute is his strike rate. He has scored an average of two goals for every three games since his arrival at Rangers; many of these have come from the substitute bench, making his goals-to-games ratio even more impressive. He prefers to play in the penalty box, where he can play off the shoulder of defenders who are close to their goals. Alex McLeish considered him to rival Ally McCoist in goalscoring ability.

When he fails to score, however, his overall contribution to the team is often questioned.Manager Walter Smith occasionally chose not to play him owing to his lack of contribution to the overall team performance; With Smith's common 4-5-1 formation, Boyd was not seen to be an effective lone striker.Commentators have noted, however, that as his style of play relies on good service from the rest of the team Boyd may have been an effective player in earlier, more affluent Rangers teams."

IF we do go for him, we will need to improve the midfield!!!!! Service Service Service!!! is the key, if Beckford had some decent service i'm sure he would be scoring!

I approve. Sign him up Pearson, free agent and a good golascorer. Scored a lot for the trees last season, get him in.

I think Boyd would be a good option but I personally would hold on until January and put a bid in for juke box from cov scum? Surely he wouldn't cost more than 2m?

Why he is a free agent.

Did he track back though? Run the channels? Show a lot of passion? That's what counts remember chaps.

I can't see this happening. I just don't see NP taking a chance on a guy with a questionable attitude and work rate. Having said that, IMHO he might be worth a punt on a 12 month contract.

If there's one thing I've learned about NP it's that he'd take a player with modest talent and a huge work rate over a player with huge talent and a modest workrate. For me, KB is in the latter bracket (without the huge talent!).

We cannot turn up our noses on someone like Kris Boyd he is an ideal target man. Kris Boyd is much better than Howard.

If he's not the right man for us then we shouldn't sign him. Don't forget he flatly refused to play for Scotland under George Burley after he was left on the bench a couple of times. Factor in that he was overweight and fecking useless for Boro and it's not a great CV he has is it?

All I am saying he is not bad player his record in the championship is fairly decent as a replacement for Howard I would take him.
