Fair play to Swindon, decent side and seemed a good bunch of fans, hope they enjoyed their day.

Think they'd have pinched the win a month back, but a clinical striker and 2 very good centre halves were the difference. Amazing what a bit of confidence can do.

Mills surely has to be in the top 3 for assists in all comps now?

Not sure if that shows he's actually decent when it comes to distribution, or that the rest of our team is a load of my arse. Maybe a bit of both.

I'm not certain he's in the top three. But he's got a fair few now.

Just back - train delayed !!

Thought you were just that bit better than us today and deserved your win - but was pleased to see us give a side 2 divisions higher than us a decent game

Konchesky should have gone - but that's football and it probably wouldn't have affected the outcome too much - we just couldn't get going in front of goal today...

We have history with Beckford - going back to when he gave it the Billy Big Bollocks at our place when he played for Leeds - and we won 3-0 home and away :)

Anyway probably the last time I will post on your forum for a while until we get up closer to you - just wanted to say it's been a week of decent banter and you all seem like a good bunch of lads

Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you carry on improving and climb the league

Hopefully see you all in a couple of seasons :)

What was with the booing of Beckford?

Were they not for Howard coming on?

TBH can't say I heard that many boo's but think I heard clapping/cheering when Howard came on followed by a small amount booing.

Well...They've not really had anything to boo about for the last 3 games have they? Had to get it out their systems somehow didn't they?!

Evening all......

A very modest performance against a decent division 2 side, who could, with a bit more cutting edge, have made the tie pretty competitive.

City tried to play the pressing game that was so successful in the last two games but lacked effort and intent, dod not remotely matter on the day and another win and another clean sheet will help to keep our momentum going......

On the day I thought Wellens, Gallagher and Dyer were all very average, Schmeichel, Mills and Nugent were decent and St Ledger outstanding. Beckford did not seem to do a lot but scored twice....... :dunno:

Anyway, a job well done without ever getting out of second gear, it was the cup so that was just fine, a much bigger test coming on wednesday against 'Boro. A couple of changes needed, I think.

Almost forgot, Konchesky, what the fook was he doing? Red card anyday of the week, 'cept today apparantly.......... :dunno: :dunno:

I liked the look of Connell (sp) up front. If we'd not got the early goal it could've been a lot more difficult than it was.

There were a few times we were seeming to struggle with them on the break. Only a few last ditch tackles prevented things from getting worse.

A lot if credit to Swindon, but let's credit our for boys for putting on a professional performance where we could've easily slipped up.

Congrats on your win.... hope you don't get Stevenage or Crawley away in the next round, that won't be much fun !

My take on the game... we started a little nervous resulting in the goal. Once we settled got into our usual passing game, created quite a few opportunities, but without taking one that may have given a totally different result in the end as that may have sapped any confidence your team had with the early goal, especially as you were finding it difficult to cope with our movement.

Second half I expected more of the same from Swindon, but your second goal came at a crucial time, taking away any impetus Swindon had worked up in the previous 30 minutes. In all honesty I couldn't see us scoring in the final half an hour...the damage had already been done.

Enjoyed the day and being part of the largest away following at your ground so far this season. Hopefully we will be back again before too long. Oh and if you wonder this was not us raising our game, we play like this every week. In fact the second half performance was a little under par for what we have been used to seeing this season.

As for the " tackle" would like to see a proper view,, but there were 3 or 4 bad ones committed by your players..lucky you were at home and not playing at Old Trafford..

Thought Mills and St Ledger were very good. Danns also. Beckford not getting enough credit for two excellent fox in the box finishes that were harder than he made them look.

Wellens and Gallagher. What can I say? They have been wonderful servants and are not the worse players, but we have to be honest, if we want to win week in week out then they need to be replaced.

It's gonna get harder for the boys over the next 11 or so weeks.

Even the teams with lesser ability will start picking out and tightly marking a few of our playmakers.

Could cause us probs unless the lads stay focused and at least match them for fitness from the off.

Decent team Swindon. Banana skin avoided. Well done City.

Well done City, and good luck for the rest of the season.

I thought we did well to recover in the first half after conceding so early.

Caddis and Ritchie seem to skip through your midfield and defence with ease in the first half, and thought it was only matter of time before we would equalise.

As mentioned by another poster, the second goal was a killer, and even though we probably had even amount of efforts and possession after going two down, the belief from players and fans seemed to disappear.

I have not seen us being so woeful in front of goal all season, two of our efforts ended by the corner flag.

Not something you normally mention on a forum, but I will: Your stewards inside and outside of the ground were first rate and very friendly, makes for a pleasant day when you are not being treated like morons.

City supporters we spoke to were decent guys, you have a fantastic ground as well.

Hate losing, but there again we were never going to win the FA Cup, so back to the bread-and-butter of the league and hopeful promotion, and of course there is the second leg against Barnet in the JPT in a few days with a day at Wembley on the cards.

Love all this love from the Swindon fans. 1993 put aside, a more than decent team with more than decent supporters. Hope they get promoted.

Only the manager could do with a few tranquilizers.:)

Beaten by the better side, no complaints. Glad we played decent football in spells, feared it would be a mauling when the early goal went in.

My only gripe for the day was the pre-match boozing. 3 bar staff in a jam-packed pub (Counting House)... With LCFC fans stood behind Town fans getting served first on occassions?! A touch annoying, and it got a little tense at one point, and could have turned nasty.

Aside from that, tremendous day... All the comments re. St Ledger and Mills playing so well I thoroughly agree with, they were oustanding. Though it's a credit to Town to have the home side's central defenders being praised so much, given they are 2 divisions higher. I'd rather that than be sat here reading how Beckford and Nugent tore us to shreds!

Konchesky was a straight red, no brainer, but it wouldn't have changed the result I doubt,

Good luck in R5 and in the league,

Until next time...

I'd just like to point out that whilst Bamba and Mills have had 4 clean sheets in a row two of them are draws. Whilst their job is to defend they still need to play well with the rest of the team. The difference this time is that not only the Mills St Ledger partnership run of clean sheets still going but together they have scored a goal as well as the team scoring more goals as a whole.

Although I do think they have had it a little easy but I'd like to see how they get on against a team that will apply a little more pressure going forward!

Never enough staff in there, the reason we no longer go there.

Glad to actually see some Swindon fans on the forums. Your team played very well, think the result might have been different if we played at your ground.

Leicester didn't play that well, compared to the last two matches. Danns made some terrible passes, but fair dues to him, when he did he fought back to get it.

On a side note, glad to see some people put themselves on the members map...we need more.

Swindon fans what is your valuation for Matt Ritchie apparently we are interested in him.

We don't want to lose him and will fight tooth an nail to keep him ...... but if we do it will be upwards of £2 million! He is quite a player, probably the best player technically on view yesterday, although in attack didn't quite create the havoc he has already this season to many teams..

Thanks for the reply he looks a player certainly from yesterday's evidence and has looked the part for the last couple of seasons if we put in a bid for him say £1.5m I reckon we could get him.

Paolo won't be happy, besides unlikely to happen in this window. We need to keep our squad together for the promotion push

Doesnt it make a change to have a group of oppostion supporters actually sounding intelligent and not coming on this forum to be WUM's like previously we have had with the wurzels, dull shitty etc. Well done for yesterday STFC fans you are a credit to your club, best of luck for the rest of the season

Couldn't agree more with you there fella. They were the best away fans we have had at home all season, I even saw a few in the club shop before the game.

Swindon is one team I shall be keeping an eye on in the league now, good luck for the rest of the season and I have no doubt you will go back up.
