acooling08 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 So today I was watching my 250 Greatest LCFC Goals DVD and obviously Iwan Roberts featured a few times. I never saw him play for us as he was a bit before my time. So I wonder if anybody knows how he actually lost his front teeth?
samlcfc1 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Pierre van Hooijdonk elbowed him accidentally in a nightclub in nOttingham
adam1 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 google: http://www.livestrong.com/article/541401-do-you-need-a-sports-guard-for-soccer/ to summarise Iwan is a Welshman, he wears a Welshman's hat...
BrummieFOX Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 He just used to take them out when he played. I bloody loved Iwan!!
lcfc3774 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Iwan Roberts, the former Welsh international soccer player, lost teeth at the age of 18 when he collided with an opponent's elbow. Although he wore false teeth for social occasions, he was easily recognizable by the gap in his smile while playing. Roberts capitalized on his distinctive look by titling his autobiography "All I Want for Christmas ... Guy Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 "Iwan is a Welshman, la di dah....". I remember being there for his debut against Wolves in 1993/94 at Filbert Street - Bully had scored twice for Wolves I think, as they appeared to be coasting to victory and then up popped our then record signing for £300k from Huddersfield to score twice and even miss a good chance to complete his hat-trick! Still, he would go on to score that against the Sheep later on that season!
crisp packet Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Iwan is a welsh man he wheres a welshmans hat He lives next door to joachim and he lives in a council flat. Over the bar it went! would have been easier to score! Great player though! He does alot of work for the BBC Wales so see him on the box quite alot!

I think he left us as soon as O'Neill got us back up to the Premiership at the first time of asking. Was not really good enough for us in the Prem. during 1994/95 but even then I think he tried hard and was our leading goal scorer with 7 or something that forgettable season! I last heard him on the radio when he was commenting over the controversy in finding a successor to Gary Speed as Wales manager sometime late on last year.
Carter The Boss Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Cracking player! My first game was the famous Derby match, amazing hat trick and the birth of one of the best chants we have ever had!
Bettsj2 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Cracking player! My first game was the famous Derby match, amazing hat trick and the birth of one of the best chants we have ever had! It IS the best chant we've ever had. Why can we not have anything like that for any of our current players? WAGHORN, WAGHORN, WAGHORN SCHMEICHEL, SCHMEICHEL, SCHMEICHEL
blueharmie Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Can remember him scoring against Charlton last minute with a header to make it two one. One of my first games. Great target man who could head a ball.
Stand UP... Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Such a classic chant, remember singing this in the pens of filbert street full pelt and as previous comment said "very loud". Would love to know who actually came up with that chant, and yes a shame we dont have more original chants like that for our current city boys. Best memory of Iwan was wolves away, cant remember what season may be 93/94 but guessing and he scored two i think and we won 3-2 again i think...was blind drunk and train was one way so stranded in wolves until someone helped us out.

There used to be two fat blokes who called themselves the sumos they did !!! They made many a song. I Used to be at pen 2/3 from about 1 o clock on a sat by 2. The place was buzzing.!!!!

What i would do to have them days back, standing in the pens and going mental when we scored and as you say singing from 2pm!...how times change, very depressing when you compare now to then - atmosphere wise.
blueharmie Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Walking down into sk1 and 2 was special. Noise was fantastic. Was at Swindon in the new sk1 it was soul destroying. Least l1 singing k sing a few songs. Still decent up there.

It could happen again but fans aren't interested, I can't ever see that changing. Just found out I'll be off to the states for a couple of weeks, hopefully catch a few games. Going to some MLS games is like going back in time, unreserved seats, flags, banners, even fireworks are allowed in some stadiums, cheap tickets, beer in the stands, all fans standing no hassle, its about the only thing I miss about the US.

One had a bold head , one had black hair? They must be in there 60's now? Used to love ' u can kick a forest fan ' song also ! They made that up also not heard it for years!! Great days...
