marbelladave Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I've always defended Gallagher to some extent, but I can't think of any player last night who influenced the game less. When Gallagher is off his set plays then he really doesn't have much point. When he's on ...... Hence the frustration Gallagher is an odd player, he lines up on the right but invariably plays narrow, in attack he plays centrally leaving Peltier to make use of the space out right, when he is in form it works well enough. That does leave us weak defensively on that flank, the relutance of Mills to come out wide and the lack of a covering central midfielder is obvious to all. Gallagher does track back and close down pretty well but as with Andy King this is dismissed as neither player is seen to 'put his foot in'. Against Swindon he played with an injury as we were very short handed, I do not think he was 100% last night either so neither performance was that good. In reality I think he is just another player like King, Beckford maybe even Bamba who does not suit our somewhat ridgid and archaic 4-4-2. I agree he isn't a winger, but he isn't a striker either. We've seen him play numerous times up front for Leicester, but like always with him, there is no effort and he lacks pace and strength. I'd probably say his position is behind a striker/s, but I'd prefer him not to be in our starting line up at all. Sort of, he should be playing in the '3' in a 4-2-3-1 formation which we don't have the players to play and probably wouldn't even if we had.
Captain... Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I have always been gallaghers biggest critic but yesterday I thought he was trying a lot harder tracking back and even winning tackles sometimes. His treatment when substituted wasn't warranted last night as there were far worse performers last night. To be honest I see him do that in every game I watch, I think the criticism is harsh, expecting Gallagher to tackle like Walsh is like expecting Mills to smash one in from 35 yards. He does his job, but he is not perfect and we have been exposed down the right a number of times this season, but at some point you have to start to look at the right back, wose job it is defend and not Gallagher.

danfox76 Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I find him a really frustrating player...moments of quality followed by moments of utter crapness. Southampton game was a good point, before he went off he put in a couple top quality crosses, one was scored and nother Nuge should have scored but then kept giving the ball away and miscontrolling it thought it was ssl who crossed it and mills scored, the other goal was all nugent cutting in from the left and drilling it home.
bluesbrothers Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 All of you guys should stop moaning about Gallagher. No offence but the lad has got 7 goals and 2 assists this season, he is dedicated to the club and wears his badge on his heart. Apart from his corners today, his set pieces are premiership quality and we look most dangerous from things he can create from set pieces. Fair enough he is no Nani but don't criticise or blame, get behind all the lads, UP THE CITY! <3 True, i've never seen him dive or feign injury.
marbelladave Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 So you've noticed too. It's about balance....... If you expect your fullback to be really attacking you have to provide cover, Gallagher, as I said above, often moves inside and is not always in position to do that job, we do not have a competent defensive midfielder who might do the job, and Mills is reluctant to come wide. The result is that we are vulnerable down our right, not Peltiers fault really but it is a weakness that needs addressing. It can be done in a variety of ways possibly with Marshall in an orthodox wide role. Should work, but maybe Marshall will play on the left......

JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 You are joking!!! Talk me through that free kick in the first half where he hit it directly into the wall. Same position as Boro scored from second half. Premiership quality my arse, unless you are talking about Hinckley Sunday league Premiership?? Watch this if you think that even the best set piece takers don't hit the wall, or make mistakes you have never watched a football game properly in your life. Or are you gonna tell me that Christiano Ronaldo should be playing for the Hinckley Sunday Premier league as well?. Also the wall that gallaghers free kick hit was only 8 yards away from the ball, not the full ten, check it yourself if you don't believe me
wakeyfox01 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 dyer and mills were both worse than gallagher last night. Getting sick of people slagging off Mills because he makes a couple of bad passes. Last night he made a number of important blocks and tackles and defensively he played well. St Ledger really struggled against their centre forward and gave away a needless free kick leading to their second - their striker was never going to reach the ball and Mills was coming across to clear. However, St Ledger suddenly seems untouchable to some. If we stopped leaving Mills as the outball all the time and giving him it with no short ball options in front he has to play it long. It happens so often Pearson must have instructed them to do this. People cried out for a no nonsense defender in the summer who does not prat about on the ball, so we bring one in and now they suddenly demand a ball playing centre half
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 I'm not a lover of gallagher at all! Ian Stringer defended him to this person and said that how is he a bad player when he has had '7 goals and 2 assists'. As a winger how is 2 assists good? Bare in mind he takes corners and free kicks aswell
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Its funny that he has been here for nearly three years yet we dont know his best position. I think he has to be the only player in history not to have a proper position. And people say he should play bejind the front two. Well he did a couple of t imes before and he was shite.

jonlcfc1990 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 If he scores on Saturday will this thread disappear hmmm i wonder

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally is one great performance or one 'lad' tweet away from being called a Leicester Legend again.
strattylcfc Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 You are retarded that think gally is shit he is one of our best players by far try supporting him getting behind him we won the game because of him we still have a chance of playoffs because of him what more does he have to do score a hatrick every match bet half of you dont even go just agree with the gally and wellens haters man the fu*k up get behind the lads and deal with it how do you think he feels and wellens reading stupid stuff like this end of
Mack Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 I am very disappointed in some of our idiot fans today. They booed Gallagher as he came on as a sub then cheered when he scored. Needless to say Gallagher was not at all interested in celebrating with the fans, and I dont blame him.

Needless to say Gallagher was not at all interested in celebrating with the fans, and I dont blame him. I didn't hear the booing. But wondered why his celebrations were subdued. I thought he actually looked like had a bit of pep about him when he came on. His pass was instrumental to the goal scored. I think we'll see him gone over the summer, and it'll likely be a request or more than pushed.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 I thought I heard boos from the stream but couldn't be sure
acooling08 Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 Gallagher plays well in games like today, against defensively weak teams, and when the rest of the team are playing well. In the tough games where we are under the kosh he is next to useless. I wouldn't have him as a regular starter but would definitely have him in the squad.
Mack Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 There was quite a bit of booing. And when he was waiting to come on another half breed near me was having a go at him before he even got on the pitch.
Tom17LCFC Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 There was booing up around L/K1. I said to my old man that if he scores they'll all be the first to cheer. I've not rated him the past few months but can't understand why some people feel the need to boo.
