Out Foxed Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Jesus Christ, is this for real? Coming off the bench and getting stuck into the game is one thing. If you have ever played a serious 11 a side game you would know this. Playing a good variety of through balls, I counted at least 3 decent passes. He tracked back a number of times, I saw him in line with defence and supporting a few times He made himself available by moving into space, many players were struggling to do this yesterday. Scored a goal with a composed finish. Schlupp lost his composure twice in front of goal (as a definitive striker). Gallagher has been played as a midfielder for the majority of the season with less practice and chances as schlupp. I dont know what more he could have brought to the game, given the scenario and time he was on the field. agreed.
Fox92 Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Although he does get slated a lot I will always thought his prefered postion was striker? Yes, but when he does play in that position, he is still not good enough. I see him more of a second striker/attacking midfielder, but he isn't good enough to start.
Leicester_Numan Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Like Le Tissier, he's lazy and capable of moments of brilliance, unlike Le Tissier, he's also capable of complete cack. He has 1 good game in 4 but he is being played out of position so that's not really surprising. It just seems to me that he just doesn't quite fit into our team and he's not good enough or consistent enough to change the team and formation to suit him. The best thing for both parties is to sell him or even better, give him to Forest so they can have the problem of where to play him
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 True, but he can only play against the opponents that are there. ..which he has too often failed to do, especially in away games..
Captain... Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Still don't like him. Yes, but when he does play in that position, he is still not good enough. I see him more of a second striker/attacking midfielder, but he isn't good enough to start. The issue here is not whether he is liked or good enough, it is the fact that he was booed before stepping on the pitch, as non Gallagher fans do you agree with that? I find it disgusting, have a moan and a groan when he misplaces a pass, fine, even boo after a bad performance, ok I understand that, but to boo a player coming on the pitch is just ll kinds of wrong. I don't think it should ever happen except for non footballing matters, such as for something they said or did off the pitch.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 laughed when the ball went back down he kept looking up where is was

Gallagher has been a decent enough player for us, has had some good days, and some bad days. That's why he is a Championship player. People want to replace squad players now? Open the revolving door again,,,

I have never booed the team, or a player, when they come on the pitch. I admit I have booed the team, but only after a defeat/poor performance. I don't agree with people that boo players who are entering the field, yet I won't tell them not to do it either because they have paid ££ and it's their opinion? But overall I agree with what you're saying.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 ^^ this also I would imagine that gally is a very important player to have In the dressing room, because of the way he is!
Leicester_Numan Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 I agree that booing him before he sets foot on the pitch is bang out of order. If you dont rate him that's ok but at least wait till he f...s up before you berate him. I've never booed any of our players, the team or the manager and never will unless they do something that's a complete disgrace. It's all very well us keeping him because we need squad players but what about what's best for him. Don't you think he'd be better off at another club where he might be appreciated and get a regular starting place?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Booing him before he came on shouldn't happen though I am not surprised by it. I wouldn't boo a substitution like that as just totally absurd and not helpful whilst the game is still being played. Still don't like or rate him though I wouldn't boo him coming on the pitch.

Fox92 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 What good does booing a player onto the pitch do? It might be their opinion but it's totally needless and possibly counter-productive. I said, I've booed the team (not an individual player) at the end of a match(es) before, not at the start or during. I tend to do it out of immediate frustration. As for booing players when entering the field, or during play, I cannot answer the question but I suppose frustration is just the same.
cc_star Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 A quick show of disapproval at half time, or a sustained one at the final whistle is understandable... done it enough times myself in the past But picking on an individual who's played with an injury for a considerable amount of time until it got too bad is a ridiculous situation, even more so before they've come on the pitch & even during the game.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 I didnt see the match at the weekend, only the goals on The Championship but Gallagher playing through the middle seems to be the way forward for both Pearson and Gally... he has skill, a good shot on him and playing up top or just behind the front players restricts the need to stick your foot in which we all know he cant / wont do. Playing wide exposes him to the fans abuse and the situation will deteriorate until he leaves the club. I think he played in the hole or as part of a 2 at Plymouth a few seasons back and score about 20 in a season. I'd love him to be given a chance in the middle and if he fails then fair enough get rid

But the evidence of the last two seasons shows that all too often in away games where the going gets tough, he goes missing. Ben Marshall is the future. Gallagher is the past.

That's exactly why NP signed him Although my mates texting me who were at the game, Gally was one of the key reasons behind our second half improvement.

He was good when he come on against Donny as well, best used as an impact sub when the opposition are tired....
brockmyster Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Fair play to him as ive said before i dont rate him but its sounds as if he put a good shift in today so deserves some plaudits maybe
Vardinhio Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 I hate Gallagher all he does is score goals and set them up.
Corky Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 He made an impact today. Gallagher and King coming on made a difference to the way we played, a perfect cross for Nugent to nod home.
Leicester_Numan Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 If Gallagher played every game the way he's played in the last 2, there'd be no need for this thread. I'm neither for or against him, he hasn't convinced me either way. The question is, can he keep playing like that?
