Predict the future.

Implantable knowledge chips will become common. Instead of paying for an education, people will pay for "knowledge packs" to be inserted into their brain. There will be a thriving market for pirated knowledge packs, where people will risk downloading life threatening virus'. The black market will also contain lots of illegal knowledge packs about bomb making and shit.

This will tie on with the increasing robotisation of the human race, where cranes are no longer cranes but humans with massive metal arms controlled by the brain as if it were a human arm. People will be able to enter a 3d virtual reality video game while their arms and legs have been programmed and are making dinner.

You've really sat down and thought hard about this haven't you. lol

Mankind will take its self to the brink of destruction before a hostile Alien invasion unites the world in its defence of the Blue Planet, many will die, but Mankind will triumph, its bloodline be saved and the peoples of the world will become one in thought love and peace.

OR

We run out of fossil fuels and revert to the noble horse as the powerhouse of the nation, horse shit becomes the new black (well brownish black) gold.

We're actually quite good at curing a lot of cancers these days. The problem is, cancer is basically cells that are too good at living and need to be killed; it's quite difficult to find something that kills bad cells but doesn't kill good ones.

The future treatment of cancer will probably lie in genetics, and preventing cancer, rather than curing it. It's once cancer is well established that you run into difficulties with location of tumours and their size, their responsiveness to drugs and all the other factors which lead to death.

In terms of eradicating death, that's an interesting concept. I'm inclined to think technically one day it could be possible to arrest the natural decline towards death, but whether we'll ever be able to keep in check all the environmental factors, and eliminate all the chance and coincidence that might lead to death, is another matter.

They'll always be a rich elite and they're the ones that will have the opportunity to have an extended life especially if that richness has polished their egos.

I was chatting with a doctor the other day about Cancer, and they are saying they have made good progress in finding the genetic indicators that mean someone is more likely to get cancer. Basically there are certain code sequences that mean you are more likely to get a certain type of cancer or not, they always new there was a genetic link but now they are trying to find the actual code so that they can then identify those that are at risk of which type of cancer and then help monitor and advise on their lifestyle to prevent them getting cancer. It is not a guarantee either way, those with this code will get cancer whereas those without won't but it is leading to a better understanding and a greater chance at catching it early.

Nano machines will be used in surgery.

Organs will be cloned.

Transport pods will replace heavy road haulage, though this might lead to transport pod material hijacking lol

Thieves will get hold of thermal imaging equipment to check houses out and security companies will design a new paint to counter this.

A person's genes can often be identified before a foetus even born, and certainly when a child is very young. Obviously this opens several huge cans of worms, both before and after the poor thing is born, but I imagine this is where cancer management is heading. I think they're struggling to find surgical, chemical and radiological techniques which are more sophisticated than what exists already and the frontier has probably already shifted towards early detection and prevention. The sad fact is, once you're at a stage where you're symptomatic and heading to the GP, chances are it is too late.

Ithuriel - nanosurgery is already very close. Organ cloning is probably not a million miles away either. It's exciting.

Personally, I think a huge debate will have to be faced one day. The fact of the matter is, we're getting awfully good at preventing people dying. This for me presents two issues; the first is that, the world is already pretty damn crowded. I genuinely think the questions will one day be asked, are there too many of us, do we need to deny treatment to people to allow them to die? Is a world with 20 billion people, more than half of whom are over the age of 1000, an appealing one? The second is, will the quality of life past a certain age be high enough? Will we continue to provide treatment to people who are very, very poorly, keeping them in stasis without any of quality of life, as their body is kept physically alive but their mind deteriorates?

Wymsey will come back online and tell us about his year in hiding with his date and his sessions of tantric sex that lasted for days on end until she unfortunately died mid coitus for reasons yet unknown.

Telepathy.

Well a form of it anyway. Scientists have discovered a primitive method of hearing peoples thoughts using technology - these are the conscious words that we hear ourselves say without utterance. If these can be picked up and amplified then I can see in the future being able to look at a screen wearing a headset bluetooth esq and it type out your thoughts, draft letters etc... even record all your thoughts or dreams in a cloud so that you can keep them, however this could also be hacked and used to monitor people or gain information... Later generations of this may well involve communicating via conscious thought from person to person using some kind of device without their being need for spoken word.... that means telephone companies will be investing in this stuff pretty soon!

May sound ridiculous but who would have said 10 years ago that computer games would be in 3d and interactive in HD quality e.g. the Wi and that a high percentage of people from the age of 12 upward in the uk would have mobile devices ?

I think we will have cars that drive themselves. Just type in the sat nav and the car will take you there. You#ll be able to put the kids in the car let the car take them to school and then drive itself back again.

I think we all know why she might die mid-coitus...

There will be a FIFA game in which every pass you make goes the direction that is intended.

There will be an option to dive, but if player does dive, they get taken out the game. Karma.
