Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Bit of a side point, but has Gallagher ever missed a penalty for Leicester? I can't recall one. No he hasnt which he deserves only credit for as he really does vary where he puts them and has really smacked them at times. Keep dreading he will miss one soon as he has scored so many, so sooner or later you dread he will, though i think he is one of the best penalty takers i have ever seen. I think he has now scored 8 out of 8.
Guest parky0607 Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 The thing is, even if the keeper goes the right way, its very hard to save his shot because he gets such power on them. Power + Placement = Goal
sharpie Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 well done gally youve scored a pen, your a pro footballer train everyday and you can hammer in a pen. wow! great free kick though but like ive said before does it once every 7 games not good enough! no interview, why?? to good??
Guest parky0607 Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 well done gally youve scored a pen, your a pro footballer train everyday and you can hammer in a pen. wow! great free kick though but like ive said before does it once every 7 games not good enough! no interview, why?? to good?? well done boo boy, you've made yourself look a dick in another thread you coincidentally started, and your negativity still remains. Wow! Frank Lampard is a pro footballer at one of the worlds biggest clubs, but yet has missed more than one penalty this season alone. Why?? too easy?? Maybe he didn't want to be interviewed because he's sick and tired of these planks (which ironically call themselves supporters) getting on their backs after every game. Whether it is warranted or not, what is the overall aim of this 'support', is it to push them out of the club? Is it to annoy them so much that they don't have any passion for the fans anymore? Is it to make our club attractive to other players? Feel free, continue in your pessimistic quest, but I hope you enjoy missing out on 9 goals + per season. After all, this isn't a game where scoring goals gets you points is it?
sharpie Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 sorry for saying what i think, shall i just agree with everyone else? r u one of those fans who never says a bad word against a player no matter what? the reason i get wound up with certain players is because i want us to do well, i suppose u never said a bad word about junior lewis or lee marshall its just pathetic
Kitchandro Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 FFS four pages of bickering about a particular player again. We did win you know!
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 These are the regular criticisms that are levelled at Gallagher. Lightweight - not clear what that means on its own, but it always sounds a good word to use when having a dig. Wins no headers - many "won" headers simply give the ball to the opposition (I heard Nugent praised yesterday for "winning" a header that went straight to an opponent, but that's ok because he "won" the header). Has no pace - I wouldn't say no pace, but granted he probably isn't the fastest runner in the squad. We can't all be the fastest. Rarely tracks back - I disagree, I would say he does his job there, maybe in an understated way. His form may have dipped drastically in that he hasn't provided two goals in every game and his attempts at the killer pass haven't come off every time, but that's what happens at the level we're at - otherwise he would be playing for Man U. We need to accept that Gallagher is an essential part of the team. He may not be the image of a footballer that some fans romantically crave, throwing himself into every tackle and header, but his strengths add to the overall effectiveness of the squad. It hasn't been a "little" criticism though. It has been fairly intense at times - being booed off when substituted? He can't shoulder the entire blame for the team's underperformances, but he's the whipping boy at the moment - our fans always seem to need one. Maybe his reaction simply shows that he cares. By taking what I said about no pace, being lightweight, winning no headers and rarely tracking back literally you won't change my mind. Your argument is flawed. Danny Drinkwater didn't score two goals against Cov nor Cardiff but I'm not berating him. I'm not denying his set piece taking ability and it has dug us out of holes in the past. But how many times does his corner not beat the first man, his Hollywood ball not come off, he get muscled off the ball... Too many times. He's a luxury that we simply cannot afford. To top it all off he's now acting like a 'prime donne'. No thanks Paul.
Filberts Treat Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Just watched the highlights again. Blokes a nob. With a big ego. Never been any good
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I have always quite liked Gallagher and to be fair he has scored 10ish goals this season. However, I think his celebration just showed how up his own arse he is. Taunting his own fans with the whole hand to the ear thing is just stupid. The only thing massive about him is his ego and to be honesy its cringeworthy. He may aswell have done the shhhhh thing aswell. Tool.
MPH Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 love him or loathe him, take his 9 goals out of the equation and we would be in an even worse position than we are now - his 2 goals won us the game on saturday.

They slate him constantly then cheer and sing his name when we win the game because of him. I'm not surprised, footballers must get sick of it. And people wonder why footballers aren't 'loyal' or why they don't form attachments to clubs. It's because of people like you.
Libertine Dream Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Ive not got a problem with Gally's celebaration, as the treatment of him in the last month has been pathetic, the ironic cheers when substituted and the groans when he loses possession(only plauer who seems to suffer these type groans) have been pathetic. He's not having a great season but he still delivers to win us games and is a decent guy to have at the club. Don't remember people slating Dyer last year against Reading, in fact many people agreed with him, but as soon as Gallagher does it he becomes Satan again.
SeattleShane Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Gally cupped his ear towards the kop, like Dyer did against Reading last season. Obviously had it in his mind to prove the fans wrong. Good lad Whats good about taking the piss? Has more bad games than good.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Quite frankly I don't care how a player celebrates if they're scoring and helping contribute to a winning side. Although I suspect some fans feel it's their "right" to boo an individual player but think a player doesn't have a "right" to have a pop back if necessary.
Filberts Treat Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I've always said he's rubbish. Not jumped on any bandwagon. Just coz he scores the odd goal people believe he's good. He weakens the midfield massively. It's ok for attackers to drift out of games and score the odd goal like the Yak. But not in midfield. Puts too much pressure on the defence and the rest of the midfield. He's a liability when he plays poorly and that's all too often.
Filberts Treat Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 And when people call him a luxury player!!?? Haha. Fair enough if we were winning every game. We've not won back to back in the league this season.
Callabinho Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I didn't know they had and that's obviously a completely different and far graver matter to fans criticising his performance. Don't see why it'd make him refuse to speak to RL. Delete his Twitter perhaps, come out in public and criticise those doing it perhaps, but refuse to give a football interview? Who knows why he didn't want to, he gave an interview on foxes player! The fact is he and Wellens have done nothing wrong to warrant the abuse that they have been getting. A few bad games and everyone hates him! Do you think the Cardiff fans will be sending Whittingham hate male for his crap performance on Saturday?
MattyFromLE Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Does anybody not think that it could be to do with wanting more noise/atmosphere?
Mack Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I think most players can take a bit of stick from a crowd justified or not, but sending abusive messages to a player's wife is way over the line, and I'm not surprised he is pissed off.
Filberts Treat Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I'll be the first to admit regardless of his goals he played well on Saturday. Hope it continues(but it won't). And yes the abuse over twitter towards him or his wife is well out of order
Filberts Treat Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Have Gallagher and wellens got mardy bums coz stringer or Alan dared to criticise them over their performances?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 What can we deduce from this then? That the fans who think they can boo and not get any stick back are mardy wankers?

Puts too much pressure on the defence and the rest of the midfield. He's a liability when he plays poorly and that's all too often. Then blame Pearson for playing him in midfield, Gallagher is not a midfielder, nor is he a winger, he is an attacker, and as you say it is ok for attackers to drift out of games, but he is being played on the right of a midfield 4, he has adapted his game and despite the selective blindness of people on here, he does get back, he does win the ball back and does help out the defence, maybe not as much as Abe did playing on the right or when Drinkwater has played out there, or any of our other "specialist" right midfielders, but that is the sacrifice you make, you play an attacking right midfielder or a combative more defensive minded right mifielder and sacrifice some attacking ability. And when people call him a luxury player!!?? Haha. Fair enough if we were winning every game. We've not won back to back in the league this season. You don't really understand the word luxury do you, he is a luxury, not a necessity, if we were being cautious we would pick someone more defensive minded and lose out on his creativity and attacking ability, but he is picked because of his ability to do something match winning. When the rest of the team is playing well we can afford this luxury because the rest of the team can pick up the slack to allow for the odd moment of genius. Unfortunately when the team is not playing well he will look exposed and his weaknesses picked up on unless he pulls out a cracking goal.

If you actually bother to read my post, you will see I said I have always liked him and i respect the amount he has scored. I have never booed him at a game but instead I will speak my mind on here. To be honest, if he is underperforming and not putting the effort in that he should be, people have the right to let him know. Its they only way a player can come back fighting. I just think taunting your fans is stupid when you clearly want them to get behind you.
