Gallagher's penalty celebration.

To be honest we should never ever boo our own players when being subbed what sort of good is that going to do anyone ?

Who ever boos our own players when being subbed are a complete moron and shouldnt support the club and should stay at home.

Ok if we've had a bad run of games then by all means have a boo at the end of the game but what is the point of targeting our own players. IDIOTIC.

He did play well today, but lets not forget he's had some absolute shockers lately. Maybe a coincidence as weve signed a new winger?

As I've mentioned before his good game to bad game ratio is probaly something like 1:7,

Like the Palace home game he scored two great goals but after that played crap for loads of games.

I would love to watch a game from this perspective it must be really boring. "so what he scored two goals that won us the game." wow indeed so what 3 points at home so what? yeah giving "most" of the fans something to cheer about so what? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm not sure what perspective you watch the game from. He's lightweight, wins no headers, has no pace, and rarely tracks back and his form has dipped drastically. Granted he scored the two goals yesterday and of course I was pleased for him and the team but my issue is his reaction to the crowd. Overpaid champagne Charlie who can't take a little criticism.

Some people forget that footballers are humans sometimes. Paul and Richie have served our club brilliantly over the last few seasons and they are not going to be at their best every game! It's part and parcel of being a footballer, you will have bad days, it's how you apply yourself when you're not playing well that's important. Even if his passing is sometimes wayward you can't fault Richie for effort. As or Gally he is a match winner, which is exactly what he did, I'm pleased for the lad he is technically superb, yes sometimes his work rate is questionable but when he scores the boo boys love him!

African or European swallow?

lol +1

Looked like a team yesterday and created lots of chances for Nugent and Becks - even PK. Play like that every week and we shouldn't fear anybody, including Norwich.

Well played Gally.

Very petty not talking to RL, lets be honest Gally has been shit for weeks & its bloody frustrating because we know how could he can be!

Hopefully he kicks on from here and doesn't think yesterday was enough to silence his critics!

Interesting.........

I have not gone to many of the games since Barnsley, primarily because I have 'issues' with the side and the way that it plays and behaves.

I have described these feelings in other threads so suffice it to say that I believe there to be dissention in the dressing room that affects our attitude, our team spirit and our relations with the officials, this is particularly noticeable when things on the pitch are not going well.

By all accounts none of this was obvious yesterday, it appears that we bossed the game (against a decent side) and could have won more clearly, I was very pleased and naturally wondering if my views (as above) on the side were correct....... :dunno:

I then read that, despite a good win and decent individual performances, both Wellens and Gallagher 'declined' to speak to Stinger after the game....... :ermm:

Another example of the 'attitude' that I have been fretting about or something else entirely?

Anyone able to shed any light on the matter? Thanks.......

These are the regular criticisms that are levelled at Gallagher. Lightweight - not clear what that means on its own, but it always sounds a good word to use when having a dig. Wins no headers - many "won" headers simply give the ball to the opposition (I heard Nugent praised yesterday for "winning" a header that went straight to an opponent, but that's ok because he "won" the header). Has no pace - I wouldn't say no pace, but granted he probably isn't the fastest runner in the squad. We can't all be the fastest. Rarely tracks back - I disagree, I would say he does his job there, maybe in an understated way.

His form may have dipped drastically in that he hasn't provided two goals in every game and his attempts at the killer pass haven't come off every time, but that's what happens at the level we're at - otherwise he would be playing for Man U. We need to accept that Gallagher is an essential part of the team. He may not be the image of a footballer that some fans romantically crave, throwing himself into every tackle and header, but his strengths add to the overall effectiveness of the squad.

It hasn't been a "little" criticism though. It has been fairly intense at times - being booed off when substituted? He can't shoulder the entire blame for the team's underperformances, but he's the whipping boy at the moment - our fans always seem to need one. Maybe his reaction simply shows that he cares.

He should stop reading message boards and grow up a bit - he has regularly been poor, hogs all the corners and free kicks - of course he's going to score one every now and then if he takes all of them!! No love lost between him and the fans and it is not the fans fault................... he has ability but seems lazy to me (I am obviously too stupid to see all the magic work he supposedly does off the ball - what's the point if he's crap when he gets it?). Still, he scored a penalty yesterday (and I am sure no one else in the team could have done that, say Nugent or Beckford?) and had a good free kick for which we are grateful - good job his one good free kick out of a hundred was when we needed it!

He's been gash for a while. Scoring a pen and giving it large to a section of fans does nothing for me....

This.

He's still cack. Can't beat a man, rarely tracks back, can't tackle, can't head the ball.

The amount of people that praise all of his set pieces surprise me. Whilst his penalties and free-kicks are superb. We very rarely score from corners, and it's quite frustrating. Wasn't it something like 150 corners we went without scoring, before Berner popped one in against Swansea? He can deliver a great cross on occasion and in games where we can't find the net, he's sometimes the safety net we have. He's got to be in the top 3 free kick takers in this league (along with McGugan and Whittingham). But I, personally don't rate his corners. I'd rather have Danns or Wellens put them in. Having said that, his deliveries from corners are 10x better than Dyer's.

I think you're all mad.

From what I remember Gally has always celebrated with a "shhhh" finger to the lips, or a "you what" to the crowd. Quite similar to a massive number of footballers all over the world.

There may be all sorts of hidden messages to every celebration, who knows, who cares. He scored. But keep up the expert psychological analysis, chaps.

Also refused to speak to Stringer, along with Wellens.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me, if he can't take the criticism he's in the wrong field. The pair of them have been found wanting on several occasions this season. I don't agree with booing them but they need to just get on with it.

What's pathetic is some fans thinking they have a right to abuse his wife on twitter. If I were Gally i'd do the same.

I didn't know they had and that's obviously a completely different and far graver matter to fans criticising his performance.

Don't see why it'd make him refuse to speak to RL. Delete his Twitter perhaps, come out in public and criticise those doing it perhaps, but refuse to give a football interview?

Not gonna make me start liking him if I'm honest, although he did a good job yesterday. Think him in the side puts a lot of pressure on Peltier though. I'm using Gally and Wellens as a barometer to determine how likely we are to go up next season: if they are starting on the first day of next season, I'll be worried.

You don't have to like him, just support him when he is playing for Leicester.

We paid a fair amount of money for the guy and he is probably on 15-20grand a week. Surely he deserves critisism if he is not performing and praise if he plays well. If he just needs his ego massaged no matter what then he should look elsewhere to ply his trade.

The reason he and Wellens have slated is because not only were their performances garbage there seemed to have been a distinct lack of effort. They should man up a bit and accept this rather than throw their toys out of the pram. Refusing interviews is hardly going to help is it?

Bit of a side point, but has Gallagher ever missed a penalty for Leicester?

I can't recall one.

Don't think so, but he'll probably miss the next one now. (No doubt we'll somehow make the playoffs and get to final only to have a penatly shootout and....)
