Kitchandro Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Robben has got to be one of the only players in the world who could pick the ball up in that position with two players right in front of him and you think 'he's gonna curl it in with his left, easy'.
Leicesterpool Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Great game of football, still Pearce for England!
Guest shearfox Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Pleasing performance, alot of young players in the side and they perform really well against a top side. I thought a draw would have been a fair reflection but it's the performance that counts more in a friendly and that was one of the best I had seen in quite a long time.

Exactly, considering this was a very inexperienced international side against one of the worlds top 3, we did more than ok tonight. Just a shame our defensive concentration let us down.
Libertine Dream Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Deserved the draw but we showed a lack of experience and defended poorly for all 3 goals. Not saying we were fantastic but that was more like the England I want to see, seemed to have some passion. It takes a lot for a team with a lack of caps to come back against the World Cup Finalists, and so I can't complain. Not fussed if Pearce does the Euros we'll show some fight unlike when we had the useless Italian muppet in charge.
Bert Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Encouraging in parts. But lacklustre in many others. Was surprised to see tonight plenty of people seeming to have something against England. Didn't know it was the in thing to do. Slightly annoys me to be fair.

I have always quite liked them plus my friend is Dutch and so I have grown in to having a stronger affinity towards them. I did like the England performance tonight, though. Holland just took control in the second-half when it mattered. England were encouraging tonight. They looked better without Gerrard, Lampard, Rio etc etc.

Fair point. But I like Holland more than England and have done so for ages. May I ask why it annoys you so much? I still want England to succeed, don't get me wrong. It's annoyed me for years how they fail so badly at some tournaments. I do like the look of the new England i.e. without Terry, Gerrard, Lampard etc. This current squad looks like it could go on in time to achieve something. I agree with you that 2014/16 or even 2018 does look quite encouraging.

Libertine Dream Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Don't be, some people just need to feel different somehow. Its because supporting England is too 'mainstream'
Kitchandro Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Supporting England is very difficult when you have zero respect for most of the players. I don't feel compelled to like I am with Leicester so it's easy for me not to give a shit. Maybe if we play a line-up like tonight more often, I'll take a proper interest again. But when they get to major tournaments they need to shut the fvck up and do what the manager tells them, and they need to more than just go through the motions.
