Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Goalkeepers: Scott Carson (Bursaspor), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Robert Green (West Ham United). Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea),Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), Glen Johnson(Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling(Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur). Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Stewart Downing(Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Scott Parker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Theo Walcott (Arsenal). Forwards: Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Fraizer Campbell (Sunderland), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea),Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United). Frazier Campbell?
StanSP Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Well done for dropping Andy Carroll but went with Fraizer Campbell as the replacement?! And how is Stewart Downing STILL getting in the team?! Laughable.
Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Author Posted 23 February 2012 Well done for dropping Andy Carroll but went with Fraizer Campbell as the replacement?! And how is Stewart Downing STILL getting in the team?! Laughable. I was thinking the same. I'd rather see the Ox in the squad over Downing, plenty of wingers in better form than him!
Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Author Posted 23 February 2012 And Scott Carson!!?? Pearce Out. Haha, the Turkish League is one of the best in Europe obviously It really shows how little GK talent we have in this country. Maybe the new manager once installed should try and coax Ben Foster or Paul Robinson out of retirement.
Corky Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Put Stockdale in ahead of Carson. Or the Norwich keeper. Just not Carson.
Dames Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Its a myth that Walcott continues to get ahead of Chamberlain for Arsenal and England.
goose2010 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 team from that for me would be hart Baines - jones - cahill - Richards Barry Cleverley - Gerrard Rooney Welbeck Bent
Charl91 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Not bad, but a few weird ones. Why no carrick, who has been great this season, yet we have downing? Wtf? Ox should also get a run. Lescott should be on there too, though I think it's just because he's trying new defensive options
Bugg Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Well done for dropping Andy Carroll but went with Fraizer Campbell as the replacement?! And how is Stewart Downing STILL getting in the team?! Laughable. People have been complaining about us not picking players on form. But now an in-form player has been picked (Campbell) it's a poor decision?
Charl91 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 People have been complaining about us not picking players on form. But now an in-form player has been picked (Campbell) it's a poor decision? True, but why downing?
Fox92 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Like others have said, I would have preferred Chamberlain over Walcott and Downing. Hopefully Micah Richards will play, he is England's best right back in my opinion. Pearce has said he is trying a few different names though. Fair play to him.
StanSP Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 People have been complaining about us not picking players on form. But now an in-form player has been picked (Campbell) it's a poor decision? Okay, so why has Oxlade-Chamberlain not been picked either ?
Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Author Posted 23 February 2012 People have been complaining about us not picking players on form. But now an in-form player has been picked (Campbell) it's a poor decision? I never said it was a poor decision, just surprised to see him included. I'd much rather see Carrick in there for Barry as well. Still perplexed with Downing's inclusion! I'd personally have the Ox in, I'd rather have Lennon in than Downing to be honest
Bugg Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Okay, so why has Oxlade-Chamberlain not been picked either ? Maybe Pearce may have thought he wasn't ready to step up to International level yet. Although I would think that a friendly would be the best opportunity for him to prove himself. I don't agree with all of the team selection but I think it's a lot better than it would have been with Fabio.
Guest MattP Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 That might be the poorest selection of English players I've ever seen collectively.
RonnieTodger Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I'd like to see Gary Hooper given a run out. Can't truly see how good he is until he's playing against good opposition. He always seems to score against Rangers, but sadly that's the best opposition they have over there.
Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Author Posted 23 February 2012 No Rio or Frank.... Two of the positives from the named squad
EnderbyFox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 My Team would be Hart Cole Cahil Jones Richards Gerrard Parker Cleverley Young Rooney Sturridge
Simo86 Posted 23 February 2012 Author Posted 23 February 2012 My Team would be Hart Cole Cahil Jones Richards Gerrard Parker Cleverley Young Rooney Sturridge This, Adam Johnson maybe in for one of the wingers though
Mack Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Sneijder van der Vaart de Jong van Persie Robben etc etc Not a prayer.
General Smuts Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Goalkeepers:Scott Carson (Bursaspor), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Robert Green (West Ham United). Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea),Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), Glen Johnson(Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling(Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur). Forwards: Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Fraizer Campbell (Sunderland), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea),Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United). That's a bit of an odd squad really. A lot of people were bricking it that Pearce was gonna pick all the kids but he hasn't really. As people have said Carson is an odd inclusion, Ruddy or Stockdale would make more sense. Good to see Michah Richards back in the squad but 3 RB's is a bit Megson for my liking. Would have rather seen someone like Spearing or Rodwell instead of Barry and any other winger instead of Downing. Campbell is an odd inclusion and is obviously a Pearce favourite else his injury problems would have kept him far from the squad. Shame Agbonlahor has been overlooked again.
Darkon84 Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 With regards to all the comments about Oxlade-Chamberlain....Pearce has said that although he has been playing well for the U21s and has been playing well for Arsenal, he hasn't actually palyed that much for Arsenal, and including him in the senior side to have a 10minute cameo, wouldn't really help his footballing education. Quite sensible from Pearce in my opinion, it makes a change for someone in charge of England to do something like that. Good to see Richards back in the squad, but surely get rid of Glen Johnson and get Lescott back in. I'll admit, I'm not a huge Lescott fan, but he's not been doing too badly for Man City, lets be honest.
