Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 I fvcking hope you touched wood after posting that he has probably been touching his wood all night . . . . . . .
carlhltid Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 17 points clear of 3rd bottom (Cov), 16 points off second spot. mid table
burni Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 I think finishing the season strongly is important, it feels like im watching a different team now and remenents of pre nigel seem to be disipating with loaning of mills, leaving of fernandez, ball, abe etc. One of the big shadows over us is not winnning back to back league games for a year, and im sure when we beat it we will ironicaly win 3+ games in a row. Really hope a strong season finish comes with play offs and judging from what were seeing now a bit of luck on our side and we may just do it, it should be close.
lcfcbaby Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 We've been saving our consistency of back to back wins for now! I have faith!
One Arm Babba Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 All for not what everyone else does unless we start winning consistently. 3pts against Cov is a must.
dannythefox Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 They have improved but we need to see off Coventry with a good win 3-0 would be nice! And we just need to sit tight and hope the teams above us keep dropping points.
cairnsy Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 Im not joining the optimistic bus until we get back to back wins (and beat bristol city for good measure too)
Chairman of the Bored Posted 26 February 2012 Author Posted 26 February 2012 Two in a row, two in a row, beat the Sky Blue Scum and it's two in a row....
Guest Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 I think we need to win the next 8 in a row to have a chance of promotion.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 Coventry got a win at home to Barnsley yesterday. They've won their last two home games but lost their last 2 away games. I'm hoping that's a good omen although the last couple of games at the KP, they managed to pick up points despite being completely dominated. It would be a massive shame to miss out on back to back wins here. This is our best chance of doing so for years. If we really want the win and really take the game to Cov, I'm sure we can win comfortably. As for the overall picture, I've said before at least 6 points from Cov, Brizzle and Reading and we may still be talking.
Dan Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 This is just last year all over again, I can remember a year ago when we were talking about the 4 of the top 6 slipping up. Only for us to go and join the fvckers.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 There's always that team who has the late run up the table, I really think if we can get two wins back to back we can take it far further than that! Although I may still be drunk from last night.
yorkie1999 Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 And there's always a team in the top 6 that bottles it at this time of the season
Yojoe36 Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 he has probably been touching his wood all night . . . . . . .
flowwolf Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 Oh dear... The little chaps probably gonna be disappointed I'm afraid. Once might be possible? If the little chaps going to be disappointed he will make a true Leicester fan disappointed runs through our blood !
Kitchandro Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 Did that BBC predictor thingy and had us finishing 10th. I was as honest as possible but tbf we do go on a decent run. Winning 7, losing 3 and drawing 4, still finish 7 points off.
Ozwin Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 HEY OPTIMISTIC PEOPLE WE DONT TAKE KIIINDLY TO YOUR KIND ROUND HERE
Kitchandro Posted 27 February 2012 Posted 27 February 2012 HEY OPTIMISTIC PEOPLE WE DONT TAKE KIIINDLY TO YOUR KIND ROUND HERE I am optimistic, just not deluded
Guest Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Realistically if we win win our next two games we will still be 12th in the league (Burnley play 2 teams below them but it's possible that Leeds lose their next two games) then we are still hoping for 6 teams who have done better than us so far this season to do significantly worse. We need to win just about every game left this season to make it into the playoffs.

We need to win just about every game left this season to make it into the playoffs. Some one talking sense and then we need clubs to throw it away. If Hull win the game in hand they have thats 2 clubs 9 pts clear of us. Still think we can do the cuo though.
ajthefox Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 It's possible but not that likely. We'd realistically have to be looking at a minimum of 70 points pushing towards 75, an additional 25/30 from the remaining 42. The league is so unpredictable though, and a solid run of wins can really change it. Reading's recent run shows just how quickly you can climb if you get a few good results on the bounce. If you do the math, we're looking at 5/6 games split between draws and losses then winning the rest. A tough feat, but by no means unachievable.
Babylon Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Some Interesting Fixtures this weekend around us. If we were to win, and it's a massive IF considering we can't win two back to back. Then we will have closed on someone. Ideally a West Ham and Saints win with a Blackpool Hull draw would be perfect. Cardiff V West Ham Leeds United V Southampton Blackpool V Hull Then in midweek when we have Brizzle you have Hull V Leeds United Brighton V Cardiff Which we'd probably want two draws from. Two wins for us and those results could see us on 51 points and very much in contention with huge games against Reading and Birmingham to come after.
Guest Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Two wins for us and 51 points is not "very much in contention" even if every result you suggested came about. How many points closer to the playoffs would we be having played a seventh of the remaining games and having every result go right for us? we have to win our own games because we can't count on others not winning enough of theirs the problem is that SO many teams are above us and we need them all to do worse than us even though they've proved better so far.
Corky Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 All we can do is win our games. We can't affect others. Take one game at a time. Get ahead of ourselves and we could fall away. We can't afford any more slip-ups from now on. If we're at our best we've got a chance. It's not in our hands now, but we can make teams above us worry.
Babylon Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 How many points closer to the playoffs Closer than we are now. Two wins for us and 51 points is not "very much in contention" even if every result you suggested came about. So you think 3 points behind Cardiff (presuming those results happened) wouldn't leave us in contention. Especially considering We still have to play Reading, Birmingham, Blackpool, Hull, West Ham, Leeds, Burnley all of whom are above us. And the fact many of them will all be playing each other as well. The point being the next two games could put is in a good position considering who we have to play. It then makes those games huge 6 pointers. And not forgetting we have a game in hand on Burnley, Leeds, Brighton and Blackpool. I'm not saying it's likely, or that we're going to do it. But it's definitely possible with a bit of luck.
