TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Paul konchesky @konch3Gutted I'm gonna miss 3 games, no appeal but positive it's over in a week. come on the #boys
Saxondale Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Couldn't work out what happened at the time and, having watched it back on the telly, I still can't work it out. Ah well.
NeilyBoy Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Couldn't work out what happened at the time and, having watched it back on the telly, I still can't work it out. Ah well. Yeah it's not at all clear but I think I can make out his left studs going into the other guy's stomach. In which case fair play, red.
samlcfc1 Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Kennedy must be licking his lips, I think he'll do a sound job
MrSpaM Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Just wish we knew what it was for, all the replays i've seen of it seem to be completely inconclusive. I think unless it's 100% nailed on you'll win the appeal it's just not worth it though.
Babylon Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Yeah it's not at all clear but I think I can make out his left studs going into the other guy's stomach. In which case fair play, red. Exceptionally harsh to get sent off for a high foot in a 50/50 ball like that. Just another example of how rubbish the ref was in the seond half. It was also never a penno, if it was Morgan should have received his second yellow. To go with the long list of weird decisions against both teams, with clear coners and goal kicks going the wrong way.
Bayfox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I can see why the ref gave a red, however I do think it was a genuine attempt at playing the ball, surprised we haven't appealed, but I guess the fact the FA can increase the ban plays a factor now days. Have to say tho, the number of Reds we have had and the number of penalties awarded against us this season is something that needs solving over the summer.

At the end of the day we're all well aware that if you put your studs into a guy you're going off, regardless of intent. Ref didn't have much choice.
Mack Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 It was also never a penno I thought that until I watched the Football League show. It was a penalty, very clumsy challenge. Konchesky by the letter of the law also deserved to go, having said that the ref could have shown some football sense and just given him a yellow, but under the strict laws the ref was correct.
Salieri Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Big loss but chance for TK to step up. A whopping NINE games this month so at least Konch gets a bit of a rest.
Babylon Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I thought that until I watched the Football League show. If you watched it how did you not see the fact Morgan passed the ball back to the Keeper before making any contact? If you slide in to a challenge, win the ball, and the player then goes over you that's not a penno. No different if you are on your feet. His contact on the ball may not have been the cleanest, but he got to it first.

But it's not like our pen was any clearer-cut, I thought Wellens went down a lot easier than he should've done.
acooling08 Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Big loss. Kennedy's chance now. I doubt Pearson would want to disrupt the SSL-Morgan partnership but if he really needs to, he could put SSL to right back and play Bamba in the centre with Morgan. Also, how can anyone say that it was a penalty yesterday? Morgan clearly plays the ball back to Kasper. Anyone who thinks it was a penalty after seeing it on TV is watching the wrong sport.
Dan Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Just as we face Jimmy Kebe and Nathan Redmond, fvck sake. Good luck Kennedy, didn't disappoint before, to be fair.

Morgon got to it first and passed it back (obviously not a peno at this stage) but he then swung his other leg round and took the guy out.
NewburyFox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 It's a big loss, but from what I've seen from Kennedy, I'm sure he can step up.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I genuinely can't recollect I've seen a player sent off before for a high-boot? Unless its been like a karate chop... Usually high boots have resulted in yellows, not reds. Was having this conversation in the pub on Sat night and none of us could recollect a sending off for a 'high kick' like Konch seemed to do? Then again, we were pissed.
foxes2011 Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 will be a miss but tbh im looking forward to seing how kennedy can do. Gives us a chance to experiment maybe.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 very, very harsh, the fact that nimely rolled around like he had been shot didn't help, might be a bit of karma though, he was lucky not to go against swindon.

I think you was watching the wrong match! Morgan was lucky to stay on IMO. Deffo another yellow. We were lucky to get away with just a pen.
Happy Fox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Shame but Kennedy can produce the goods for the next 3 games.
surrifox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 It's a big loss, but from what I've seen from Kennedy, I'm sure he can step up. Kennedy had Clyne and Zaha operating down his side of the pitch at Palace and they hardly got a sniff- lets hope he can do the business for us in these next games - he's on the bench regularly now so he's on Nige's radar and impressing him (not that there are any alternatives!)
