Jagdinho Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I think you was watching the wrong match! Morgan was lucky to stay on IMO. Deffo another yellow. We were lucky to get away with just a pen. If you get the ball before the player how on earth is it a yellow?!
NewburyFox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Kennedy had Clyne and Zaha operating down his side of the pitch at Palace and they hardly got a sniff- lets hope he can do the business for us in these next games - he's on the bench regularly now so he's on Nige's radar and impressing him (not that there are any alternatives!) Makes you wonder why we ever signed Michael Ball as LB cover though when we had Kennedy in the squad
Captain... Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I genuinely can't recollect I've seen a player sent off before for a high-boot? Unless its been like a karate chop... Usually high boots have resulted in yellows, not reds. Was having this conversation in the pub on Sat night and none of us could recollect a sending off for a 'high kick' like Konch seemed to do? Then again, we were pissed. When you compare it to Nigel De Jong in the World Cup final and Suarez on his return to the Liverpool team, both of which were unpunished it is a nonsense, There was contact but it really didn't look at all deliberate, I thought he was going for the ball (this is based on the stream which showed a few replays of the incident) and didn't seem that dangerous. Having said that it was unnecessary, I do wonder if it was a mistake caused by Konchesky being tired. I don't think we could appeal because it was a foul and then it is down to refs interpretation for the punishment and studs to the chest can easily be justified as a red card.
Babylon Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 but he then swung his other leg round and took the guy out. I'm watching it now full screen and he just ran into him, Morgan can't just magically stop the moment he plays the ball. He used his right to play the ball, and his left naturally goes forward next. It just looked weird becuase of him being barged into.
Out Foxed Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 let's be honest, it's been coming for a few matches.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Kennedy is more than a good enough replacement.
Captain... Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 let's be honest, it's been coming for a few matches. Not really, apart from the Swindon game, or do you just mean that the refs hadn't sent one of our players off for a few games, I couple of stats about PK, fouls in the league so far: 27, 6 yellows, 1 red That obviously means nothing without context, but that is less than 1 foul a game, but he gets carded for a quarter of his fouls, this is also true of other Leicester players. Bamba 27 fouls 7 yellows Danns 27 fouls 7 yellows 1 red Matt Mills 24 Fouls 6 yellows 2 reds Then you look at Morgan who has only been with us a while, 31 fouls 4 yellows all season 2 of those yellows have been whilst playing for us. When you look at our team as a whole we are not a dirty team, you look at the team disciplinary record we are in the lower half of the team in terms of fouls committed yet we are top in red cards, top in number of penalties conceded and top 10 in number of yellow cards. Are we being treated harshly by refs? Either that or we just can't foul subtley. All stats taken from here http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/ClubDiscipline/0,,10794~20117,00.html and were correct at the time of printing.
Raw Dykes Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I think you was watching the wrong match! Morgan was lucky to stay on IMO. Deffo another yellow. We were lucky to get away with just a pen. Which match were you watching? SSL made a bad pass to Morgan, but Morgan helped the ball back to Schmeichel just before Nimely ran into Morgan and then rolled around on the floor for the nth time that afternoon. Nimely made a late challenge on Morgan and then played the victim. How can you say we were lucky at all? Kennedy had Clyne and Zaha operating down his side of the pitch at Palace and they hardly got a sniff- lets hope he can do the business for us in these next games - he's on the bench regularly now so he's on Nige's radar and impressing him (not that there are any alternatives!) I'm pretty sure Schlupp can play left back, if I remember correctly. I think Tunchev is another option if we're desperate. You're right, though - Kennedy was impressive last time he played in the 1st team and should definitely be 1st choice left back whenever Konchesky's unavailable.
Libertine Dream Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 No point appealing it as the FA don't use common sense, theyll just see studs up type thing and laugh at us.
accessory Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 very, very harsh, the fact that nimely rolled around like he had been shot didn't help, might be a bit of karma though, he was lucky not to go against swindon. This. Another player might have got away with a yellow card, but the ref didn't want to be crucified for being too lenient, like the one in the Swindon game.
FoxyMusic Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Kennedy is not even half the player of Konch, we may have a problem here.
Mack Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 If you watched it how did you not see the fact Morgan passed the ball back to the Keeper before making any contact? If you slide in to a challenge, win the ball, and the player then goes over you that's not a penno. No different if you are on your feet. His contact on the ball may not have been the cleanest, but he got to it first. He left his foot in.
Mack Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I've just double checked it to make sure I'm not going mad. Watch the replay on the BBC from the second angle, he passes the ball back with one foot then leaves the other foot in and takes the player down. It's a penalty.
Captain... Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 He left his foot in. What are you on about, he passed the ball, he got to the ball first was always going to get to the ball first, it wasn't even a 50/50, are you telling me defenders are not allowed to run towards the ball and pass it? As I said before he could have easily slid in and taken the ball cleanly and out for a corner, but that would have lost possession and been more dangerous to Nimley by going off his feet. It really was a penalty for nothing, absolutely nothing, and not the first time this season we have been penalised for nothing.

I can't watch the bbc videos at work but I will check, but I don't see how you can leave yout foot in when you are standing up and have your back to the player.
paddy Agyemang Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 2 decent left backs but konchesky is better so hurry up And get these 3 games over konch
burni Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 what if something happens to kennerdy? Brunoooooo, come back!
Happy Fox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 what if something happens to kennerdy? Brunoooooo, come back! We have Taft. Bruno's legs have gone and he aint coming back.
Corky Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Thought it would be three. With the amount of games this month he was going to miss a couple in all probability, though probably not consecutively, and Kennedy can step in.
Mack Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I can't watch the bbc videos at work but I will check, but I don't see how you can leave yout foot in when you are standing up and have your back to the player. He was side on mate, definitely tripped the bloke over.
The Guvnor Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 very, very harsh, the fact that nimely rolled around like he had been shot didn't help, might be a bit of karma though, he was lucky not to go against swindon. The same player that rolled over so many times after a previous innocuous challenge that he almost rolled into the crowd, fooooking cheat!
Haydos Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I'm watching it now full screen and he just ran into him, Morgan can't just magically stop the moment he plays the ball. He used his right to play the ball, and his left naturally goes forward next. It just looked weird becuase of him being barged into. Can you not see why it looks like a poor challenge though? I understand what you're saying but I can see why the ref gave it. It looks untidy and it doesn't much look like he got the ball either.
lcfcoadbyfox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 Definitely not a penalty for me, ball was clearly passed back with the Cov player running straight into Morgan. Konch was also very unlucky most players would usually get a yellow card at the most.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 At the time I thought their penalty was a terrible decision and even on the highlights initially I hadn't changed my mind but watching it again now a few times, Morgan plays the ball and then wraps his left arm around Nimely to try to stop him closing Kasper down. Definite penalty for me and would be furious if it wasn't given at the other end.
