Foxhateram Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Sorry, I'm just enjoying the emotional rollercoaster of LCFC
ozleicester Posted 8 March 2012 Posted 8 March 2012 pre-madonna's Is that anyone born, "Pre-Madonna"? If so, is it the 80's singer or the "original" Madonna? either way, it looks like Big Stevie will still have a place As to whether NP should go or stay, im not a fan, dont like his style or tactics or general attitude. BUT!... we have to give some one a real chance and that means at least 2 seasons to build and create a side of their own. One that plays his style... I am confident that if left alone, Sven would have got us up.... NP, if given a couple of transfer markets and some time is capable of getting us to the playoffs. So lets just give him the chance. That of course does not excuse him from criticism, when he makes mistakes... bad sub timings, continual hoofball or plays defensively to try and hold a lead instead of pushing for a solid win, all fans have the right to complain and moan. Edit. Re the "shit" players Sven bought, Kasper, Konch, SSL, Peltier, Danns, Beckford, Nugent, That list there are the ones who will end up around the top of our Player of the season voting.
munf1987 Posted 8 March 2012 Posted 8 March 2012 Should never have left in the first place. We would be in the prem already or be going up this season, with half the money which has been spent and would have the two wingers Hull have from Utd (brady and stewart i think).
suffolk fox Posted 8 March 2012 Posted 8 March 2012 I blame the owners. They sacked Sven when we were only two points off the play offs. We are now seven points and Birmingham have a game in hand. Sven should have been given more time as most on here want Pearson to be given more time. It is divided opinion if we are playing better football under Pearson. I do not like the long ball game we tend to play and when we go one up after dominating teams we then sit back pull our midfield back to defend and invariably concede! Still that's Pearsons style and it won't change. Win ugly is his style. However if we continue to lose to teams in the lower reaches of the Championship and if the Thais are serious about promotion he won't last long next season.
El_Sieffsi Posted 8 March 2012 Posted 8 March 2012 "All we are saaayiiing".. "Is give Pearson a chaaance".. Apologies to the Late John Lennon. I'd like to see Pearson here for at least next full season, with some players out and some in,promotion or not..either way we need to replace at least 4 players as I know there is better out there..shan't name names as this is about Pearson. Haven't used the word "shan't" in years!! Just 1 other thing..pleeease sort out throw-ins,sooo many times Konchesky/Peltier are stood there like a broken radar searching for anything resembling a LCFC shirt and failing..turn and make a run..SOMEBODY!!
The Doctor Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 So that's the post that sparked all the hubba-ballo? Hardly seems worth the wait.
Libertine Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 Shouldn't even be an issue. How the hell is this nothing post +11?! Weirdos.
ian the fox Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 Would be in the prem now ,if we hadnt appointed legend Paolo Sousa & sacked Peason , nice one Mandaric , you idiot ..........
Corky Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 How the hell is this nothing post +11?! Weirdos. I once gave a +1 to something I disagreed with, as I missed the Quote button. So maybe that's the case?
Libertine Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 I once gave a +1 to something I disagreed with, as I missed the Quote button. So maybe that's the case? More like you created 10 extra accounts to show me the man love you're too afraid to proclaim in public.
iamafox Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 Would be in the prem now ,if we hadnt appointed legend Paolo Sousa & sacked Peason , nice one Mandaric , you idiot .......... Goodness knows how Milan is still involved as a football chairman.
seenitall Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Weren't we in deep financial trouble before Milan came along? Didn't Milan bring Super Nige in? God you lot are fussy - he spends a fortune, gets you your dream manager, buys you some players and gives you your only silverware in 10 years and still you don't like him!!!
NeilyBoy Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Because Sven brought in a load of overpaid pre-madonna's. This is a (very) pedantic post coming up but; what exactly do you think "pre-madonna" means? I can tell you what you've literally written: "Sven brought in a load of overpaid men who were around before the singer Madonna" or "Sven brought in a load of overpaid men who were around before the virgin Mary". What you meant to say was: "Sven brought in a load of overpaid men who have elevated self-worths". You were looking for the operatic term "prima donna", or first lady, as in the fat woman in the lead role who gets to boss all the peons in the backstage staff around. The more you know.

Lets be realistic..who was actually complaining when Sven signed the players he did? Matt Mills, Neil Danns, Peltier, Konch, Kasper were signed to a fanfare of praise for Sven being able to attract 'this type of player'. Although we didnt exactly know what they were being paid, we surely could hazard a guess that they were gonna be earning pretty big money? But who really cared about this, at the time? No-one really seemed bothered also about whether they 'had big egos' or not... in fact, being supposedly confident and perhaps even arrogant players, was what many of us felt were exactly the type of players we needed. The problem is that they have done nowhere near as well as was predicted..by the media AND by the fans. Sven's problem IMO wasn't the players he signed or tried to, I simply don't think he got the balance right.
Steve Agnew Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Lets just have a look at Svens permanent sigings one by one: Bamba £250k - Top value in my opinion, we were offered £2million from Blackburn Vassell Free, Can't beat a freebie, and excellent performer Ricardo- Free. Big mistake and cost us lots of goals, even if not lots of money. Lee Peltier £750k - Good value, could sell him for the same Kasper Schmeichel £1.25 Million - excellent value, could get £5million for him Neil Danns Free - Can't beat a freebie Sean St. Ledger £1.25 million - Good value, Rep Ireland international - easily get the same back David Nugent Free - Can't beat a freebie, especially one on course for 20 goals! Matt Mills Reading £3.5 miillion - Price tag pressure has killed his performances, the big shocker of all transfers Paul Konchesky 250k - Good value for money, consistant performer John Pantsil Free - yet to prove himself, big wages, so some question marks Michael Ball Free - Mistake, but a very cheap one. Jermaine Beckford Everton £2.5 million - starting to show his value, yet to be fully convinced The ego's could be Beckford and Mills, but we have no solid evidence to show either. Other than that I see no prima donna in the signings. Of the 13 I see, 7 a great success, 2 arguably successful (beckford and Peltier), one yet to be proven, and only 3/13 are mistakes. Two being free and not costly, and the other being matt mills??? People forget that these signings have capital resale value, and they are not all mistakes. I think if we sold them all on, we would at least break even, probably make a profit, Lets not get carried away with ' clearing up the mess' rhetoric, or we will all begin to sound like a hollow members of the coalition government, churning out the party line.

Steve Agnew Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 A lot of the prices quoted in the media were over the actual prices, according to Andrew Neville. I heard that the reason they got the price substantially reduced for Konchesky was by playing games with that other African left back that we were going to sign (can't remeber his name). Liverpool dropped the price, because they thought they were going to lose the sale.
Libertine Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Even so, no chance it was that low. They paid 4m.
