Nalis Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Pongolle and Le Tallec, what throwbacks! Just googled both, Pongolle in MLS and Le Tallec in Ligue 1. Fair play as it looks like they both found their level as opposed to plummeting into footballing oblivion.
Guest MattP Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Southampton. Hahahahaa Sonny Pike, remember him on Big Breakfast He even managed to get on Fantasy Football as well with Baddiel and Skinner. The media and fans were just as keen to destroy our young talent back then as they are today, imagine calling someone the new Maradona at 14. Unreal. As for this kid, hope he signs for Stroms and makes them a fortune.
MC Prussian Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Sonny Pike legend. Southampton. Hahahahaa Sonny Pike, remember him on Big Breakfast Poor lad had a mental breakdown in 2000 and then went on to quit football altogether, studying instead. From his wikipedia page: Pike's talent was present from an early age and led to his signature for Dutch side Ajax at the age of only seven.[3] Pike was playing for the Leyton Orient youth team at the time.[4] He was described[by whom?] as a player who, "had a lot of skill, could pass it and was a nice player, but he lacked pace."[4] However, the pressure on Pike led to both his personal mental breakdown in 2000 and the collapse of his parents' marriage.[2][3] Pike's collapse has been used as a warning to other young athletes, such as Cherno Samba and Rhain Davis.[5] After leaving Ajax, Pike returned to England and played non-league football with teams including Stevenage Borough, Barnet, Enfield, Waltham Forest and Dryburgh Saints, all under his birth name of Luke Pike http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Pike
Soar Fox Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 He's no Cherno Samba lol I've just googled him as I remember him from my championship manager days. He's only ever scored 1 professional league goal.
Stadt Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Ødegaard has trained at a lot of clubs so don't read too much into the Liverpool thing. Ajax or Bayern would be the best moves imo.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 lol I've just googled him as I remember him from my championship manager days. He's only ever scored 1 professional league goal. 29?! Pull the other one, Cherno - must've had a hard paper round because he's the most elderly looking 29 year old I've ever seen.
David Guiza Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/borussia-dortmund-star-marco-reus-given-largest-driving-offence-fine-in-german-history-after-driving-without-a-licence-for-three-years-9933582.html Not strictly football news, but I see England isn't the only country where footballers don't bother following the law. Fairly sure Barry Bannan did something similar, driving a Bentley on a provisional licence.
Matt Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Juve 1 up after 4 minutes in the Italian Super Cup. Juventus 1 - 0 Napoli. It made our defending look world class!
C-man Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Dortmund sign Kevin Kampl from RB Salzburg. Good news on two fronts (he's class and it weakens RB - would hate for them to win EL) but still a sickener dealing with them at all.
ScouseFox Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 the tevez goal was great. been a great game tbf, loads of tackles, some good goals and a last minute extra time equaliser. pens, nice.
Uncle Phil Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Pogbas penalty haha. He's like a French Ballotelli but puts in a touch more effort sometimes.
ScouseFox Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 some ridic pens in this. top bin been smashed about 10 times.
LCFC1996 Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Class save and Napoli win, epic penalty shoot out, great game
Dan Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 Dortmund sign Kevin Kampl from RB Salzburg. Good news on two fronts (he's class and it weakens RB - would hate for them to win EL) but still a sickener dealing with them at all. How much you paid? I'm glad it weakens them too. Increases the chances of Villarreal getting through.
MC Prussian Posted 22 December 2014 Posted 22 December 2014 How much you paid? I'm glad it weakens them too. Increases the chances of Villarreal getting through. The transfer fee's rumoured to be in the region of 10m Euro (£7.8m). As for Villarreal's better chances, that all depends on whether Vietto is staying.
LCFC1996 Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Carpi have gone 9 points clear at the top of Serie B in Italy, to put what they've done since reforming in perspective imagine Bishop's Stortford being 9 points clear at the top of the Championship in 14 years time
