Saxondale Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 glad the mouse girl has gone, but any of those three going would have been good Nothing wrong with mouse girl.
Captain... Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 Stephen is typical of so many people I've worked with that get ahead by deflecting the blame talking over everyone and just being an absolute tool. Some of the shit he has come up with, lets hide the artist out the back. Utter tool, will almost definitely be very successful.

This series is starting to get good now, the last couple have been half decent and next weeks is do or die for Steven.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 I think tonight's was more of a decision from the producer than Lord Sugar. Ratings have dropped slightly so IMHO they're making Stephen the new Stuart Baggs to keep us interested. You have to have one absolute buffoon who infuriates everyone until the week before the final.
Durnerz Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 Stephen - Typical salesman, full of shit and very little substance to back it up other than pre-rehearsed chit-chat and self-deflection of any form of criticism coming his way. The kind of fella who sells you a dodgy mobile phone. Adam, although amusing, is a right tit, full of himself and waiting keenly for the moment when Sugar drops his drawers so he can plant a huge smacker on the boss's buttcheeks. Whoever wins will probably exchange the £250k for some magic beans.

At least 'The Brand' had some charisma, even if you didn't like him. Stephen is just somebody who you hate to hate.

Except it was filmed in October so this series ratings were unknown at that point. Unless you meant ratings have dropped over recent series
Tielemans63 Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 Except it was filmed in October so this series ratings were unknown at that point. Unless you meant ratings have dropped over recent series Sorry, I meant at the end of the last series. I was reading on an Internet forum* that's it peaked 3 years ago and has steadily dropped since then. * Cuz I'm sad like that.
Rincewind Posted 16 May 2012 Posted 16 May 2012 I've not watched it this series. It may be guesswork from the producers thoughj. The same format week after week. Tasks that some are tedious, contestants tedious mainly. So perhaps they are expecting viewing figures to go down if all the boring arse licking people get through and not the loud moyh bufoons, I may watch the semi and final. I like You are fired that is on after on BBC2. The one that was on tonight seemed like a nice girl. Was it the fact she was a happy go lucky northerner that put Sir Alan off. Put somebody next to him who is happy and he'd look a miserable old git.
AoWW Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 How the fook has Stephen got away with it again? Oh, ignore that. Right decision Lord Sugar.
Captain... Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Ha ha, he is such a slimy turd, so condescending and just unable to let anybody talk, but talks over them all the time, usually telling them to answer the question, or talk about themself. I really want to punch him in the face every time he is in the boardroom. I think Gabriel got dragged down after so many weeks being no Stephen's team.
Leicester_Numan Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Well, Mr Gobshite has finally got sacked. About time too
Captain... Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 He actually came across very well on you're fired. Probably realised how he came across in the boardroom.
Saxondale Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 And we all thought he'd got away with it. Can't wait for the annual 'interview with the bastards' episode. Must be coming up soon.
Saxondale Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 He actually came across very well on you're fired. Probably realised how he came across in the boardroom. Thought this too. My anger has subsided somewhat. He clearly knows he was just playing the game and seemed to graciously accept the fact that he deserved to get canned.
StanSP Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 How bad were Adam and Tom in today's episode?! So lacklustre and uninspiring. They're lucky Jade wrapped up the deals that she did. Glad Stephen has gone. Me and Bert (and probably thousands of others) called that it'd be a double-firing . Still reckon Nick might win.

I thought it would be a double firing, leading to the last 5 having the interviews next week but it's not. Normally there is one double firing a series, so I assumed the had planned for that.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I thought Stephen was a bit better on the after show but still, to me, came across as a bit of a bellend. Karren Brady couldn't really hide her contempt for the bloke.

Leicester_Numan Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I think his gadget blame deflector finally broke down. I can imagine him jumping out of bushes with the flasher mac they gave him. Go go gadget .... Yeuck!
breadandcheese Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I'm a fan of the show but it's probably time to replace Alan Sugar with someone else to revitalise the format. It's becoming a bit tired now and would be interesting to see a different businessman's approach. Also, I find it a shame that we don't know the contestant's business ideas, seeing as the prize is an investment in a company. I'm sure Alan Sugar does, which might explain some of his decisions. It certainly did in the last series when Tom was declared the winner, despite seeing him committing errors that would have seen him fired were he competing for a job at one of Sugar's companies.

I have thought something similar, the idea of it being a business plan/bringing a product to market could have revitalised it, but it is the same old tasks. I would like to see them each week actually trying to bring their ideas forward, whittling out the poorer ideas and working together as a team on the stronger ideas, and actually have tasks based on getting a product to market, so week one is brainstorming, week 2 design, week 3 create a prototype, week 4 market research, week 5 pitching to suppliers, week 6 creating a marketing campaign, week 7 street selling, week 8 product launch. I am sure that there are more steps to it, but they all come with an idea to start with, and in the end one of the ideas is launched by Sugar or whoever, each week ideas/products get elliminated, but the people stay unless they are deemed useless, in which case they are fired, or if they want to leave. If they want to stay they can be recruited by the other teams left in there. If nobody wants them then they get fired. First week, for example all the ideas are discussed, and ranked, I'm sure a TV exec could make an exciting format out of it, blind presentations with swivel chairs and big red buzzers. Then the bottom half are eliminated as unworkable, then those that remain choose one of the eliminated inventors/entrepreneurs to recruit. Just a thought.
Parafox Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 They share a last name, maybe they're related. Might be his grandma. Karen Brady is a very unpleasant person, not that i know her, she just seems that way
