FOX_TROT_07 Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Had a mate text me who was at cheltnham and said st ledger had a few to many to drink on Wednesday and got into a bit of trouble at Cheltenham races. Not sure what exacty just that security where called etc anyone know any more about this?
Houdini Logic Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 http://www.dailymail...-St-Ledger.html The Republic of Ireland defender was so unruly on the second day of the Festival that security had to be called to the grandstand box where he was being entertained by Irish bookmakers Boylesports. An extra security detail was posted on the fifth-floor hospitality facility on Thursday in case St Ledger and other rowdy footballers returned. The owner of the box hired by Boylesports Tool
Houdini Logic Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 And more... IRELAND soccer star Sean St Ledger splashed the cash for revellers after he hit the jackpot at Cheltenham. The star defender downed Jaegerbombs and bought rounds of drinks for punters at a Cheltenham pub where he partied into the early hours of today. At one stage, the young Leicester player pulled out a wad of cash and showed it off when asked if he had a winner at the races. "What do you think?" he laughed before generously peeling off some notes and buying drinks for everyone in sight. The 27-year-old defender will line out for Ireland at the Euro 2012 in three months but he has a more pressing engagement at the weekend against Chelsea. The FA Cup quarter-final with the Blues, however, didn't seem too pressing for the centre half. "Come on, let's have a drink. I'm playing Chelsea on Sunday but it's okay," he told the Herald. St Ledger, who is a valuable member of the Ireland team, hit the tiles with a vengeance as he celebrated his big win on Queen Mother Champion Chase day. Dressed in a dark suit and in gregarious form after a day spent enjoying hospitality with Boylesports, St Ledger partied at the Beehive in the centre of Cheltenham. At one stage, he threw his shot of Jaegermeister into a pint of beer and downed it quickly before moving on to buy more drinks. The star is gearing up for a clash against Chelsea and was clearly given the night off by team boss Nigel Pearson. The pair have had a fractious relationship in the past, after Pearson transfer-listed St Ledger following a St Stephen's Day bust up after the Ireland player was left out of the team. When asked if he had been given time off by no-nonsense Pearson, St Ledger laughed and said: "It's okay, it's okay." St Ledger has made a place in the Ireland team his own of late, lining up as Richard Dunne's defensive partner. He will travel with the Ireland team to Poland in the summer and may start against Croatia in our first match of Euro 2012. St Ledger had come up to the Prestbury racecourse from his southern base with a gang of pals as they enjoyed the hospitality area in the corporate boxes. He was among a number of soccer stars who had made their way to the track to chance their arm and have a flutter, including Shay Given who was seen chatting with Westwife Gillian Filan. Although born in Britain, St Ledger chose to play for Ireland as his grandfather is from Carlow. He made his Ireland debut in June 2009 in a qualifier for the 2010 FIFA World, Cup which resulted in a 1-1 draw to Bulgaria. http://www.herald.ie/news/sean-of-the-bread-3051893.html
Houdini Logic Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 I wonder how much of a 'lad' he felt standing hungover in front of Pearson at the training ground...
gloriousglenn Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 I would guess (don't ya love rumours?!) that the posh horsey brigade didn't like a bit of banter and high spirits, complained, and it all got blown out of proportion.
purpleronnie Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Its so rare you hear about an irishman drinking too much.

Mack Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Its so rare you hear about an irishman drinking too much. Except he is English and from Birmingham.
Jace Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Bit unprofessional isn't it getting smashed a few days before 1 of the biggest games for the club in years in my opinion. I know if it was me I would want a least a week of full fitness before a major match be interesting to see how Pearson react to this. Personally I would be seriously concidering Bamba alongside Morgan or Mills
Kitchandro Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 So what did he actually do to get security called?
purpleronnie Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Except he is English and from Birmingham. He's irish and damn proud of it too.
Captain... Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Why, just why SSL? I am pretty sure it is all a bit of a storm in a teacup, but why risk your place in the team for Chelsea by getting drunk in such a public way.

Personally I would be seriously concidering Bamba alongside Morgan or Mills TBF, if he didn't have training the next day I don't see the problem. It's not like you get pissed and your fitness levels go through the floorboards for the next week. You have a day of recovery, drink plenty of water, get some food down you, and by the day after you should be fully recovered. I don't expect Pearson sees it that way though!
OzFox Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Just warming up for St Patricks Day "I'm playing Chelsea on Sunday". Bet Mills will love to hear that
Jace Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 TBF, if he didn't have training the next day I don't see the problem. Yeah definitely Im just more surprised he would be allowed 2 days off midweek with an important game on Sunday, if it had been a night out on a Monday and had the Tuesday off then maybe but by the sounds of it he’s had Wednesday off and drunk all day and then would of needed the Thursday off too. Giving 2 days to prepare with most players being rested the day before the match anyway (Saturday) seems very relaxed to me but Im sure Pearson has a better idea than me!
Jace Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Just imagine the reaction if it was Beckford.... There would be a riot Bert
Babylon Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Just imagine the reaction if it was Beckford.... Was just about to say that but with Mills or Wellens at the end.
bluesbrothers Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Just imagine the reaction if it was Beckford.... Hell, just imagine the reaction if this was 2 months ago, before everybody started humping SSL's leg.
Mack Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 He's irish and damn proud of it too. Oh yes... His best mate is a Leprechaun!
SystonFox Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 Firstly these seem to be just tabloid rumours so whats with the uproar? secondly how many of you lot would react any differently if you'd had a big win and you were already loaded as it is? spread the love SSL, mines a jaggerbomb too!
Corky Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 What a LAD. Totally unprofessional. There, that's both arguments covered.
