Guest Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 I've recently discovered my Scottish ancestry was only one generation; his parents were Irish. However, a quick search on the surname and the family's lack of catholicism indicates that the family could be Scottish after all, and was taken over to Ulster as part of the Plantation of Ulster of the 1600s. I need to find some time to research this further.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 March 2012 Posted 16 March 2012 My dad is Irish and to honour him and my celtic ancestry I will be getting tanked.
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 one of the most cringing days of the year Celebrated all over the world by pretend Paddys......
21st Century Fox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Another festival that's been Americanised. At least this one you can kind of understand why (immigrant nation and all) but its overly done by 10th generation 'Irish'. Dyeing an entire river green??? Now where's my oversize Guiness hat and celtic band transfer tattoo.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 17 March 2012 Author Posted 17 March 2012 Celebrated all over the world by pretend Paddys...... The peoplethat pretend to be Irish or who spout crap that there ancestories were Irish annoys me, It's a great day to get out on the sauce tho
FoxyPV Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Celebrated all over the world by pretend Paddys Irish disapora AND plastic paddys.
sphericalfox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Well, I'm over in Ireland and I've come over to see family and see the town parade. Unfortunately the parade falls on Sunday, and precisely 14:05. Now I know what you're thinking. Do I celebrate tradition with family with my own, or sneak off and watch the match in the only pub in town, who actually is a Leicester fan....hmmm, I have a very difficult decision on my hands. Also falling on the day of mother's it might be looked or reflected upon by both my immediate and extended family that I'm a class A coont. My fellow foxes, I once again, call upon your mighty wisdom before you go out and pretend to be Irish on this fine Paddy day.

Your family will survive without you, for 90 minutes G'won, you know you want to.
sphericalfox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Watch the City. Your family will survive without you, for 90 minutes G'won, you know you want to. I know I want to, but it's the legacy I leave behind that's the problem. There's also the Ruggers today. Double dilemma. Do I get smash-caked, wake up with a hangover, be a miserable shite on Mudder's Day, and pish off to watch us lose to Chelski and be even more of a misery? Rock and a very hard place.

I wonder who they cheer for at cricket? > tebbitModeOff();
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Get a little fed up with all the hype surrounding St Patricks day when St Georges passes by more or less unnoticed.
sphericalfox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Get a little fed up with all the hype surrounding St Patricks day when St Georges passes by more or less unnoticed. Shut your face Mark. Be honoured that the the Irish let you play for them, misery arse!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 17 March 2012 Author Posted 17 March 2012 5 hours down the pub smashin Guiness followed by a good mates engagement part with free beer for 6 houtrs. Yet i'm feeling good but an exhausting day.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Shut your face Mark. Be honoured that the the Irish let you play for them, misery arse! your right I forgot for a minute I was Irish!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Not too sure why someone would want to celebrate someone else's patriot saint. Plastic paddys, guiness hats, sat in an 'irish bar' with a leicester accent. Fkin cringeworthy. To any genuine Irishmen on here, happy St Patricks Day. To the wannabe paddys you're a disgrace. It's all aboyt April 23rd
ScouseFox Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Loving people actually getting angry that someone would want an excuse for a piss up! Do you go round shouting "plastic fvcking Christians!!!" at everyone not in church on Christmas day?
Corky Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 Loving people actually getting angry that someone would want an excuse for a piss up! Do you go round shouting "plastic fvcking Christians!!!" at everyone not in church on Christmas day? Yes.

Do you go round shouting "plastic fvcking Christians!!!" at everyone not in church on Christmas day? No but you don't see Muslims celebrate Christmas, so why would someone non Irish celebrate St Patricks Day? I wouldn't mind if they did they same for St George's Day but they probably don't even know when it is!
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 March 2012 Posted 17 March 2012 I think its illegal to celebrate St George`s day, stu...
