Finnegan Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Can't really see a thread already, unless I'm blind. We seem to have a few threads moaning about players being off form but if anyone's really deserving of praise at the moment it's got to be Lee Neil Danns. I think he started the season inconsistently, got moved about from position to position and didn't ever really quite seem to settle anywhere. Palace fans warned us that, whilst a fan favourite and full of running, he could be frustrating and I think we saw that early on. But over the last couple of months the bloke's put in a monster shift and really has made himself the first name on the team sheet at the moment. Was absolutely heroic again today, literally everywhere round the park and always carrying us bursting forward. Take a bow son.
Jace Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Really turning into my favourite player this season ever since Derby away he's looked like that missing link in midfield, is a Pearson player too despite Sven signing him
Guest ttfn Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Agreed; first name on the team sheet at the moment. The last six weeks he's been brilliant. He's had a tendency to be wasteful in possession, but has made up for it with boundless energy. Today he used the ball carefully and constructively and was unlucky not to score at least once.\ He seems to have got praise from all corners as well - both the Guardian and BBC reports have talked highly of him.
RowlattsFox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Agreed, clumsy at times but works so hard and his determination wins him the ball. Always a goal threat as well, need to find a consistent partner next to him though, an enforcer type.
Corky Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Never stopped running and was strong in the challenge, often coming away with the ball. And his shot led to Beckford scoring. Excellent display and continues his improvement.
Jace Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Does anybody else remember someone not liking Danns on here earlier on in the season because of his twitter account? said something like he comes across as arrogant? On soccer am a few weeks ago I thought he come across a really decent bloke tbh no wonder he took the captain band after Wellens
Kitchandro Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Definitely can't fault him recently, MOTM today and not for the first time in the last couple of months.
StanSP Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 My man of the match today and has been for a lot of recent matches. Flourishing in the centre of midfield with Wellens as opposed to sometimes being played out on the wing when he first arrived here. Very nice of Beckford to salute Danns for his goal today, though. He deserves every praise he gets at the moment because he really is putting his all in to the matches. Long may it continue and hope he keeps scoring, too!
21st Century Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 He was our MOTM for me. At a few points in the game we seemed to have massive gaps in midfield that he pretty much kept constantly running across to keep it covered. He was constantly harassing their players and getting all over them and was vocally encouraging others to go for challenges and pick it up. He should be proud of his performance today.
Poakey Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 He's been great recently. He's a completely different player to the one that played for Sven. He was getting rave reviews from the reading fans on one of there boards after we played them the other week whilst people on here where slagging him of.
Saxondale Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I think he started the season inconsistently, got moved about from position to position and didn't ever really quite seem to settle anywhere. Palace fans warned us that, whilst a fan favourite and full of running, he could be frustrating and I think we saw that early on Here was the problem. Since he's had a good run in his correct position in centre mid, he's rewarding us by showing us what he's capable of. As well as his mega work rate and battling ethic, he has come into his own in recent games moving forward with the ball and has even developed a keen eye for goal. Well done Lee.
gazfox9 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Has put in some monster performances lately. Glad to see him take the armband when Wellens went off, as that was a captains performance today. Long may it continue.
LCFC_Bradders Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 He always fully appreciates the fans aswell, which is nice to see as not many do. Eg when Stringer interviewed him today and asked whos shirt he got, he said no ones, i gave mine to the fans, there the ones who deserve it. Putting a strong claim for Player of the Season together, and one of Svens best signings on a free! EVERYBODY DANNS NOW!!
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Carries on like this and wouldn't be surprised to see a lower half / newly promoted prem team come in for him in the summer. Great energy
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Worked his socks off today! Next season I can see him being named captain
Libertine Dream Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 He's becoming the player I though he would be when he first signed. He allows Wellens to do his stuff too as he is completely different unlike DD and King. Will be crucial if we are to go up next year.
HitchinFox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Had to sit amongst Chelsea today (wasn't fun, but not as horrid as I expected) and even they were commenting how Danns looks quality. That and how Marshall's was the best goal of the game. Danns definitely my pick for our MOTM. I agree with people here saying that he should (and is) the first name on the team list at the moment. And for our traveling lot - sheer quality. Proud to be Leicester on days like today. No matter what happens on-field - looking at our lot behind the goal has convinced me to make more of an effort next season.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Was epic today, loved when Beckford scored the goal he just pointed to Danns in acknowledgement of his run and shot that created the goal.
bmt Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Danns was fantastic today, particularly second half. Very impressing of late.
21st Century Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 That reminds me I did a pub quiz last Thursday night and one of the answers was Neil Danns. I was the only person who got it right... back of the net! (Baring in mind this was in a small city down South with a smattering of Saints supporters and Rugger fans)
Kitchandro Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I think people are going overboard saying he's potentially the player of the season and he will be crucial for us next season. He's useful and don't get me wrong he's been very good of late but have people forgotten his ineffectiveness for most of the season? It's like Beckford really, not sure either have proved themselves as big players for us yet despite improving.
