Simmo86 Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 I wouldn't - we can't get relegated now (just) and we are not going anywhere else so why not make the change now - it is in fact the right time TO BUILD FOR THE FUTURE!!!! Please go and take your brain for a lie down. Talk about overreaction, after the last 10 years do you not realise that chopping & changing manager + playing staff doesn't work!
Guest Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 The thing which is almost criminal is that the platform which Pearson had build first time was thrown away so cheaply by Mandaric when he allowed Pearson to leave. If Pearson had been allowed to build on that 5th place with a bit of financial muscle, then who knows where we would be now? Totally agree with you on this stourbridge
seenitall Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Mark my words - somethings gonna give in the next 6 months - better now so we don't have to have Nige's signings cluttering up the new (October I'd say) manager's selections

paulsherwood1 Posted 1 April 2012 Author Posted 1 April 2012 I think there are deep seated problems at the club caused by getting rid of a successful manager and his replacements being unable to live up to their predecessor. A nice little paradox is that Nigel Pearson is one of the people trying to live up to the memory of his first stint at the club. One of Pearson's strengths in his first stint was his insistence on data analysis and his fitness regime. And one of the reasons Sousa failed to miserably in my opinion is that Pearson's control freak approach to fitness was thrown out. We all know that Sousa's team appeared unfit, whereas under Pearson the first time we were almost guaranteed to score late goals. So along comes Sven who admitted to not knowing how to turn on a PC. Funny as this seemed at the time, it left me wondering how he coped with the data analysis and data about fitness collected by Pearson. It is probably fair to say it was left to slide. In his first season, Sven brought in big name players mainly on loan and we had an exciting last two thirds of the season. We ultimately missed our target however. Sven's second season was very disappointing. The sexy, fluid, attacking football had been replaced by a bland defensive game which did not seem able to break down Championship defences. Even so, Sven was sacked too early in my opinion. But I was pleased to see Nigel Pearson back. My bet is, Pearson has tried to re-install his data analysis and fitness regime at the club. While a group of players in League One were happy to accept this approach, I imagine higher profile players may be more reluctant to wear sensors to bed to ensure they do not have sex! So the club has a choice. Do they back their big name and big wage players or do they back their manager? For me there is only one answer. We have seen how Chelsea has become almost unmanageable for a succession of managers due to player power. I fear choosing the players over the manager here may have a similar result, leaving any replacement with a mountain to climb. And...if Pearson cannot fix our disciplinary problems, who can? Some good points there Stourbridge. However, everyone is focussing on the `prima dona` players. Our players are no different to most players, so this simply doesn`t add up. I think the real question is, " Is Nigel Pearson good enough to take us up?" Someone said earlier he is statistically the 2nd best manager we have had, well stats can tell you anything. He is also the only Leicester City manager ever to manage the club in the third tier, of course his stats are good! We can`t live in the past, this is about the now. NP`s team of 2 years ago is that, a team from 2 years ago. We are what we are now and that is a rudderless ship sailing in and out of games whilst the fans live off past glories.
kingfox Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 It's quite a hard question, because there are two positive arguments to each side of this debate. A. In my opinion Pearson should of never been appointed in the first place, and at this time with recent results he is doing probably a worse job than Sven did. It wouldn't surprise me if results carry on that he does get sacked, and a little bit inside me will say that is is fully deserved and the right decision, because we can maybe do better if we appoint somebody else. B. We have sacked too many managers, and we all know Pearson is a good manager. With his own foundations and plans going into next season, and with the signings and departures he could well turn us around and lead us into the play offs again. Sticking by managers can work, i.e Blackburn and Steve Kean are picking up performances. It's a hard call, head says it might be right for him to go and it was a bad idea coming back, my heart says stick let him play around with his plans and see where he takes us next season.
demon_dog Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 At the end of the day it's down to the owners to decide what they wish to do. Basically though it's down to one simple question, has NP delivered or likely to deliver what the owners wish. He is after all contracted to the end of the 2013 / 2014 season, can they be patient or do they feel that he is not the man for the job after all. None of us know what his relationship with the owners actually is. As fans we can all voice our opinions, at the end of the day though the decision is theirs and theirs alone.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 We can't sack Nigel, we just can't. I admire your loyalty, but just can't agree with. Like a good Captain, you are prepared to go down with your sinking ship. lol

Seriously fail to understand people who question Pearson's man-management skills, when it's clear that he's trying to clear up a huge lack of discipline that Sven's allowed to creep in. Sven brings in players and tempts them with generous contracts, Pearson brings in better, hungrier players and doesn't let ego's like Matt Mills walk around like they own the place. Mills from what I know has allowed his transfer to boost his ego with the amount it was, think he's above everyone, and people are actually questioning Pearson for trying to sort this saying that Pearson's the one with the ego. People fail to realise what a massive shambles Sven left us in, with the best budget of the entire division. How anyone can defend his earlier reign here is beyond me. Pearson you need patience with, he was never going to work some absolute miracle and yes, he's not been ideal, but getting rid of him when he's brought in players like Drinkwater and Marshall for next year, who's going to manage them? He's proven before with time he can bring us success, people fail to realise the season was pretty much dead bar a miracle extremely early on. Have to largely agree with these

Like a good Captain, you are prepared to go down with your sinking ship. lol I should have included a yet in there I suppose. Hes got until the end of next season for me, I want to be consistent with a manager for once. Hes got my backing. Hopefully we can get a good run going at the start of next season. I don't really mind though, I'll be here and at the matches supporting Leicester till the day I die, regardless of who is the manager, who is playing for us, how bad we are or weather or not I agree with the decisions at the club. Its MY Leicester City.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 We can't sack Nigel, we just can't. its up to the owners i suppose
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 I'm amazed at the amount of people who are calling for Pearson's head - in this thread and others. As far as I'm concerned, the biggest factor in a successful football club is stability. I'd say that amplifies for a club like ours who are seeking promotion to the Prem. When we will learn that you get nowhere when you chop and change - just look at us over the last few years. Getting rid of Pearson is the last thing we need.

Tripe as well - we had Pleat for years and were very stable - and crap
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Tripe as well - we had Pleat for years and were very stable - and crap I think the basic point stands though - as a general rule of thumb, more chance of success if you have stability. Citing one example doesn't change that for me.

Cecchini1976 Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 I agree sacking the manager is not a good idea and we do need stability. But feel that Pearson is not the man for the Job. Would really love him to prove me wrong. Have to say I am impressed with Marshall and Drinwater and think they will be quality next season. & to be fair we are only a couple of players off being an excellent team, just need to find the correct formula. Let's all hope Pearson can do this.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 As ever, disregarding facts that make the points made laughable, is allowed - I can't keep up with the goal post moving on here Of course it's allowed. I'm not having a go. I just disagree, like you disagree with me. Interesting interpretation of a fact there as well... facts have more validity where you can reference more than example

J.Lisemore Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 And here we go again, WE'RE NOT GOING TO GET PROMOTED IN 5 MINUTES. We Leicester fans should know better than to chop and change managers. Pearson has got it right once, given time...he'll do it again.
tyneside fox Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Sacking NP is not the answer just give him time to assemble his own squad because IMO the 2 players he bought in the Jan window are showing great potential especially Ben Marshall so lets see who we get in the summer and then judge him.

'tis what I think too... signing players who are on the up and want to play for the club & importantly each other as well as their pay cheques, as opposed to one's who are only here for the pay cheque
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Morning folks, just wanted to add my take after the weekend.... I like to calm down and reflect before coming on here on a Saturday night and kicking off! Changing manager is NOT an option, we MUST stick with Nigel. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we support him and just give the guy a deserved chance, i.e the summer to sort it out.... I appreciate things havent gone as well as we'd like but he's trying and to swap managers again would be crazy and an embarrassment to the football club/owners.... Look at Leeds, they've been poor since Warnock came in yet we all know he's a good manager at this level, he just needs time to sort Leeds out, same as us with Pearson. Granted Pearson has had longer but he's a good manager at this level and im absolutely FED UP with managers coming and going bringing different syles and different players.... ABSOLUTELY NO STABILITY what so ever!!! Look at Norwich/Southampton, both came up from League 1 and have gone from strength to strength with keeping their manager and not signing overpaid players!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I still blame Sven actually. He had a pot of gold to spend wisely. He didn't, instead wasting a fortune on the flops that have been Mills and Beckford. He had the chance to finally offload Gally, Wellens and Big Steve. He didn't, instead signing lots of midfielders and then continuing to play 'the old guard'. We had no width, no balance, no real plan B. It sounds like the players were running the changing room, rather than being 'managed'. Pearson has not improved things but it was Sven who had the chance to make a major major difference to this club. The biggest chance in years. And he fooked it up.

Depends what you think is good if failing in the playoffs is good then fair enough he aint as good as what the majority like to think in imo, a good manager has the ability to get results against the best teams and the shitty teams also if NP was so good why are we floundering in mid table? He has no record of promotion from this division has never managed in the prem, Get McCarthy in and I will guarantee he will do a far sight better.
